I am quite wary of their marketing techniques now. In the promotion for The Great Pretender DVD, they said: "Among the treasures to be anticipated, “The Great Pretender” includes for the first time ever Freddie and Rod Stewart singing their demo for “Take Another Piece of My Heart”, and then, what happened ? This "treasure" was only for one second in the dvd. |
soxtalon 19.12.2012 08:14 |
Not exactly the same thing. He wasn't very hyperbolic at all. All he said was that in the coming weeks they were working on a Live At The Rainbow DVD...package thing. That's it. No hyperbole. No marketing techniques...Just mentioned off the cuff as a way content in the book would be updated. This is a good thing. It means Brian confirms what Greg was talking about as a Rainbow Project is in the works. And the fact that they want to integrate it with the e-book means they have more reason to get it out there. This is a good thing. The problem with marketing techniques goes both ways. People here one small drop of information and extrapolate it out to what they want it to be and then when it doesn't match that blame QP for misleading. |

The more I hear these mentions about the Rainbow concert on DVD, the more I believe we shall see this concert on DVD. The first long-awaited step to releasing 70's concerts. And I don't care of it's going to be a compilation - most importantly, just give me that. |

Do you think? I'd have to disagree but it has been a few years since I watched it. Freddie is in pretty bad voice at the rainbow, I know that from watching it at the SIS exhibition where the audio was a dry soundboard mix. He is frequently way off key throughout. I expect it to be overdubbed to hell. |

Or do you mean fly vocal parts in for other shows? Frankly, I wouldn't care if it was seamless. I'd rather have a finished project with the highest sound quality rather than a sub-standard performance kept intact. I'll admit I'm not really that interested in this project as the bits I've seen and heard didn't impress me. Freddie doesn't sound that great and that's my main lure to Queen music. |

From Rhys Thomas: "There are two nights of the Rainbow 74 shows, November gigs (when Killer Queen was the hit of the moment). The sound is not good on one of the nights but you could cut the two shows together and make a brilliant single Rainbow show. Most shows in those days they filmed two nights and cut between the two." |

Don't know if this has already been posted on here, it's from the new QFC magazine article by Greg Brooks. "As I write we are working on a new presentation of the 1974 Rainbow concerts - possibly a new edit of the November shows, distilling both into one and looking at the audio from the March concert and seeing what we can do with that as well as the limited video from that night too. We are searching like mad for more footage from that night, since every fan I know has only ever seen footage from two songs from the March 31 gig. We have some great ideas from this project and we're working carefully on the detail. I think it's fair to say that this project is aimed more at the fans than the general public...a long awaited Queen 1970's 'the band with long hair' show (AT LAST I hear you cry!). This is a really exciting prospect and something the Q Team has wanted to get its teeth into for decades!" |
cmsdrums 29.12.2012 11:24 |
Yes, as stated by Greg, the band have been dying to release a 70s concert for decades - it's presumably just been the lack of demand from the fans that has held such a project back..... |
