I've just come back from Syria. I know Freddie's family comes from India, but I have come to the conclusion that Freddie looks distinctly Syrian. Especially in his younger years (60's - 70's). Anyone else agree? |

I always thought he looked Mexican. |

As far as I remember Freddie's origins are Persian (Iranian) and he was born in Zanzibar (Tanzania). Iran is close to Syria, so perhaps they could have genetic links. Freddie's family went to India because of an assignment of the UK Government (to his father, I believe). Please correct me if I'm wrong. Cheers, Ogre- PS: Oh, and he looks Indian to me. :) |

Ahhhhh! This forum wouldn't be worth a second glance if it weren't for comments like these. |

That explains it. In regards to Freddie's looks, the Syrian people (males and astonishingly even some females) seem to have the same smooth, light olive complexion, many of the same facial features. For the males similar body types etc...some of the same mannerisms, charismatic qualities and even voice quality. It was surreal. Probably every third or fourth young male I saw on the streets had distinct "Freddie" physical characteristics. I can't count the number of young males I saw that, I could have sworn I had just seen the ghost of Freddie straight from the year 1978. Pretty cool actually.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.No. Both of his parents were born pre-Independence in Colonial India, their nationality was British-Indian. Though, they were not really indians, but Parsees from persian descent, from a centenarian parsee community settled down in Bombay. Bomi was from a town called Bulsar, that's how they got the family name. Bomi went to Zanzibar before he married Jer, looking for a job. It was only when he got a job in the High Court that he got back to Bombay to marry Jer and to take her with him to Zanzibar for good. Freddie does not look Indian to me. His roots are persian, and I think he looked that way in his youth, but became more and more western looking through the years. |

Freddie's physical features are very common in middle east, especially in Iran and Iraq. Wide jaw, elongated narrow scull, thin nose, dark hair and eyes. During the late 80's when he had a short beard, ex: (I want it all) he looked very middle eastern. His Persian roots are very distinct in his appearance. |
john bodega 05.12.2012 04:08 |
The real giveaway was the way he kept leaving white vans parked outside government buildings. "The fertiliser is for my darling Jim!", he'd insist. |

Nobody (in their right minds) cares, there is no relevance to this, and aside from that, it is utter bullshit. You can go to any country in the world and find someone who resembles someone else. So no, Freddie did not look Syrian any more than he looked Egyptian, Indian, Mexican, British, Swedish or Russian. Geez, I get tired of QZ sometimes... |
Senna 09.12.2012 05:09 |
Yes I remember seeing someone looking exactly like Freddie in China once. |
jones904 10.12.2012 21:59 |
i think he looked indian sometimes and more syrian others ofcourse later on he looked very english it is amazing how his face looked so different he never had any skin bleaching or face lifts etc but in the song where he sings "each time i grow old" that is wierdly apt because part way through the mid 70's he did look older and then in close up from the same time he looked very young then later after he just got his hair cut and grew the musdash he suddenly looked much much younger i notice the same with jeremy kapone it is baffling. Freddie always put makeup on either side of his nose to narrow it if you look close on the pictures you can see it it is white. |

What kind of crap is this? People of certain ethnic groups do have certain physical characteristics that distinguish them from other ethnic groups. That's not racial profiling it's a fact. You can't deny that someone with blond hair and pink skin (like me) looks distinctly different from someone with dark hair and olive skintone (like Freddie). I've had enough of politically correct bullcrap to last me a lifetime. I wasn't making the comparison to be a racist or condescending. I happen to love and appreciate the differences in physical appearances of people. I think the Syrian people are aesthetically beautiful people. It's people like you who are the racists it sounds to me. Sounds like you only wish everyone looked alike. |

"Sounds like you only wish everyone looked alike" Don't be absurd! That would make prosecution a lot more difficult. Whoops. I mean persecution. |

In my short time reading the posts on Queenzone I have found that certain members (usually with 1000's of posts to their name) only tend to make snide jibes at people expressing their opinion or inciting debate. I think you need to assess you understanding of the definition of the word 'forum'. |
brENsKi 01.01.2013 11:07 |
i'd bet he hasn't commented about the political environment in Syria at all - two reasons... 1. his tag "Stoner" says it all really 2. had he any worthwhile observations regarding the political situation in Syria, why did HE not make it in the personal section? i stand by my original comment one final thing - people "with 1000s of posts" cannot make such cruel/harsh/barbed replies if people like Stoner and yourself don't make such imbecilic comments in the first place |
bobbyo 01.01.2013 13:34 |
I bet he didn't comment on Syrian politics because this is a Queen forum. One that I'll leave sad acts like yourself to enjoy. |
bobbyo 01.01.2013 13:38 |
Also, he presumably didn't note any other thoughts on Syria in the personal section as he probably has human beings with which to talk about non-Queen related topics. |

On some level you know that don't you? When you're in this mode you're like a guy suddenly barreling across a room at a party knocking over drinks and pretzel bowls and people on anything less stable than a 2 1/2 heel to punch some guy you don't know in the face as he walks in the door. It's weird. Quite a few people have pointed that out in recent months. Have you noticed that? |

I think the word you're looking for is, "prick". |

Speaking of Bomi...did he ever grant interviews to any media source? Was he a strict father...a congenial man? I've read very little about the man. I know one of the "veterens" of the forum will probably make a snide comment about my inquiry but is there anyone that has any descriptive information of just *what* his personality was like? |
Stoner 28.04.2013 23:25 |
It would be interesting to know. I don't think he had quite the personality as Freddie's mother. Maybe he was shy.
