http://getreadytorock.me.uk/blog/2012/10/interview-with-rhys-thomas/ In this interview Rhys Thomas confirmed that they are doing it in two years time. That's great of course. "There is a still bit more to come. A couple more things, there is a whole documentary that Bob Harris filmed with Queen on tour in the US in the 1970's. It was never finished. We have all of the rushes, some of it appeared in ‘Days Of Our Lives’. We will finish it in the next couple of years and it will probably come with a major concert as well. One of the US concerts plus the documentary all in high definition and it will look brilliant." The last bit just tells what Brian in his obsessive mind has already descided: only the hi-def stuff will be released. I realy couldn't care less if Hyde Park and Earls Court 77 would only be "ok" or "dvd" quality, but judging from the Days of Our Lives documentary, they really can make Hyde Park look good enough fro release. Maybe they should make a box out of these shows (Earls Court 1977, Hyde Park 1976, Hammersmith 1975 and Rainbow 1974) But at least they deserve to be released some day. |

Then, they are talking about Houston, right? Is the only gig they filmed in USA, and it looks like it was in 16 mm or meybe 35 mm. Great! Better than expected. |

Someone really needs to talk to the bug in Brian's arse and convince it that 70's stuff needs to be released, no matter what the quality. Hell, if they find it in better quality a few months down the line, they can just sell it again. |

I'm sure they will add a CGI mustache to 1977 Freddie. |

A couple of more interesting parts of the interview : I would imagine there is a planned release of these rare tracks? They want to release them and the Michael Jackson songs are coming out next year anyway. I was going to ask you about John Deacon - did you try and contact him? I tried a letter and everything but he doesn’t respond. I think he completely cuts off and doesn’t want to have any part of it anymore. His opinion was that after the ‘No-one But You’ single he saw no point in carrying on |

We've known it for years, but still pretty crap to see it in black and white again that John doesn't even respond to civil requests. All he needs to do is give a quick 'thanks but no thanks' but he won't even do that. What a shame. |
mooghead 10.10.2012 12:10 |
Houston? We have no problem ;-) |
The Real Wizard 10.10.2012 12:48 |
^ Well played sir. |

@mooghead: I see what you did there ;). Hopefully Jim Beach doesn't read this or that could end up being the release's title! |

Great interview and great news. John Deacon not even responding to requests anymore is a bit sad for me as a fan. I hope everything is going alright for John in his life. Such a talent! I'm just glad that Brian and Roger still do it, and will support them as long as they wish to do it. For me it's a privilege to live in the same time as them and to be able to be part of their journey as Queen. |

Of course, Houston '77 with a documentary and lots of rehearsal/soundcheck footage would be essential Queen. For us - die-hards - they can make it even more interesting when they throw LA 22/12/1977 in a deluxe edition... That way they can wow both the general music fan who will get to explore Queen live in 1977 AND the die-hards who can hear something totally new. It's obvious that watching the band adds something - FM was just mind-blowing as an entertainer - but still I think they should also release just audio-stuff as a bonus (certainly from that era where focus was still a lot more on the music). |

Haha! If they release Houston they'll probably release it in PAL... LOL! |

Rhys did talk about an Early Years DVD box set with the inclusion of Rainbow, Hammersmith 75 and maybe Hyde Park being the next release. Hope it comes true as well! |

Hope it comes true as well! There are all likely ideas that Rhys piches to Brian and Roger, who then reject them in favour of a new greatest hits package, or a re-re-re-release of Wembley or Montreal. |

I am sure that Rainbow and Hammersmith will be out very soon. The work on Hammersmith is already done, not to mention that in 2010 they made a new interview of the band with Bob Harris talking about the concert. Rainbow still needs attention with mixing and stuff. |

The Hammersmith shows should be all together! The 1975 one, the 1979 one, and the 2012 one!!! PLEASE!!! |
Mr. Bulsara 11.10.2012 18:06 |
We only have the 70's concert in ok def when Brian or Roger are dead. Sad but unfortunetly is true |

It's 2014, and it looks like no Bob Harris doc.... |
cmsdrums 12.08.2014 03:21 |
That doc (in extensive 2+ hours form and not butchered), along with something such as the Houston gig, would make a fantastic release. |
pittrek 12.08.2014 06:56 |
Why 2 hours? Just one of the Brian interviews should be 3 hours long! |

I think we have to ask this question to Rhys Thomas. It seems like he is the real source for news about Bob Harris doc... |

I also asked whether he had any input to the Rainbow release; he has replied to say he was not involved with that, but frustratingly not commented regarding other possible future projects! I've gone back for a second bite! |
MackMantilla 12.08.2014 16:41 |
I think this documentary will finally be released in some years. Maybe for it's 40 anniversary? |
Sebastian 12.08.2014 18:05 |
Or maybe for its 50th... first, we'll have Wembley's 30th anniversary re-re-re-re-re-re-re-release. |
Doga 12.08.2014 19:16 |
This year we couldn't complain about releases. Not only the november shows of Rainbow will be released but also the march show! That is an ace move by Queen Productions. I really hope the Rainbow package sells well. About the topic on discuss, you read Rhys, it will be released in Bluray, but give it some time, after Rainbow i think we'll get Houston+Doc probably in late 2015 or 2016. |
