Has anyone looked around Queen's facebook page, and at some of the pictures on it, and noticed the thousands of comments that flood each and every picture?
And, if so, have you felt the urge to strangle most of the people who feel the nerve to comment on said pictures?
It's insane. There are so many people on there who I would hesitate to call anything greater than VERY casual fans of the Queen. Misspellings of Freddie's name is rampant, people who only appear to know their hits, and say Bo Rhap is their favorite song (I don't want to offend anyone whose favorite song is Bo Rhap, but generally, when people actually take the time to get to know Queen, the song quickly stops being their favorite, if it ever was in the first place). I sometimes look to the comments thinking that maybe there would be a reasonably interesting discussion about the picture, but nope, it's almost completely, "amazing!" "wonderful!" "the best!" "i love bohemien rapsody!" "Freddy Mercury is the greatest!" etc. etc.
I shouldn't get so mad. Of course there are going to be casual fans of the Facebook page; it's very easy for a person who THINKS they know about Queen to hit the "Like" button on Facebook. I just wish those types of people weren't so rampant.
I get similar feelings when I'm out in the real world. (What!? I've never heard of such a place!) People who claim to be Queen fans only knowing a few songs and that their lead singer was homosexual (untrue).
Thoughts?
(PS, I'm glad there are some places on the Internet where we don't have that problem, because no casual fan would ever bother registering on a board like this. I'd much rather deal with trolls, who probably still know more about Queen than your average bear, than deal with super casual fans.)
