Brian's most original? I think so. |
mooghead 21.09.2012 15:47 |
Post a link coz the last time I listened to it was about a million years ago..... |

That's why I have the Queen's Discography Day at least once a year. |

No, not even close. |

Double post, sorry. |

Perhaps in his top ten. It's a pretty incredible moment on the album. |

Russian Headlong 21.09.2012 17:50 |
the solo is the only good thing about the song. |
notimeforlosers 21.09.2012 18:03 |
Again, I said most original, not his best one. By original I mean different. But I like it lots, and I also think it's one of his best. |
DLCVinnuendo 21.09.2012 18:21 |
excellent solo and song!!!! |
tomchristie22 21.09.2012 19:17 |
The solo is the only reason I don't skip that song actually. |
MJDSQ 21.09.2012 20:54 |
Interesting. That solo has always being one of my favorites from Brian. I always loved it. I don't know why, but there is some kind of rhythm in the solo that leverage the song beautifully. |
waunakonor 21.09.2012 21:29 |
The Invisible Man seems to be his most original sounding. Maybe You Don't Fool Me is #2 in that category. He seemed to be doing a lot of really cool experimenting in Queen's last few albums; songs like Gimme the Prize and Don't Try So Hard have some really interesting sounds from Brian. I don't understand why people don't like YDFM so much, though. I like the whole song, not just the solo. It's a great tune. |

I love the IWBTLY guitar solo |
pittrek 22.09.2012 09:45 |
The song is brilliant. Just like the solo. Moogie - link - starts cca 2:20 |
Heavenite 22.09.2012 11:57 |
Just listened to it again. I must admit the style of song puts me off, but Brian's solo in it is extremely good. It IS original, but I agree with Waunakanor that one in The Invisible Man probably is a lot more original. That's not my favourite Queen song either, but we really have been spoilt for choice when it comes to Brian's solos. |
Leonardo Venegas 22.09.2012 14:39 |
I do believe it's one of his finest solos, and obviously it's one of my favourites. It's full of emotion and virtuosity!!! |
gatto 22.09.2012 22:00 |
Impresionante. Uno de los mejores solos de su carrera. |
tomchristie22 23.09.2012 01:19 |
I take back the solo being the only thing I like about it, I enjoy the song in general. It did bother me a bit that they used a duplicate of Freddie's voice with a 'chipmunk' effect on it for a backing vocal, when they could've just got Roger to sing that part. |

Are you sure that's not Roger? |

My fav solo from Brian for me! |
Mr.QueenFan 23.09.2012 17:41 |
The solo is brilliant. It's so perfectly constructed and played that it amazes me everytime i hear it. Every note is in the right place. |
tomchristie22 23.09.2012 21:09 |
waunakonor wrote:No, the first instance is in the 'You don't fool me' at about 0:43, and it can be heard on the same lines later in the song. I agree that the part at 3:52 is Roger. Oddly, the 'ba ba ba ba' section sounds good in terms of vocal harmony, which also appears to be two Freddie voices. It's just that line in particular which bothers me.tomchristie22 wrote: I take back the solo being the only thing I like about it, I enjoy the song in general. Oh, I think I get what you're saying. It's really subtle, though. It hardly makes a difference for me, anyway. |

Mr.QueenFan wrote: The solo is brilliant. It's so perfectly constructed and played that it amazes me everytime i hear it. Every note is in the right place. So well put. It just amazes me, the precision and perfection of much of this record, knowing they created it with the knowledge that it would be the last time they'd be making a Queen album. |

A good word for Brian is 'meticulous'. Even his lesser solos are thoughtful and well constructed. The one in this song is outstanding. I wish they hadn't given it such a shite music video though. I want to puke on the people who acted in it, the people who directed it, and anyone who enjoyed it. |
winterspelt 24.09.2012 01:34 |
AFAIK there's no official music video unless you are talking about the one in the "MIH The Films" video... |

all the fans in here know how much Brian had to put into that solo...it prob. took him a month :) seriously, there's some amazin' "needlin" on the track - hats off to D.R. for the serious work on this - the track and its zillions of remixes was a major hit in the clubs - yeah, 1996! |
mooghead 24.09.2012 14:58 |
Back Chat always jumps into my mind when I think of guitar solo's that are a lot better than the songs they are in |
Wiley 24.09.2012 15:21 |
To me, among Brian's solos, this is one of the most satifying to the ears. Like someone else mentioned, every note is in its right place. Similar cases for me are Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't stop me now and It's a Hard Life. Usually Brian fiddled a bit more when playing the songs live but I really don't see how he could have improved (even replicated) the YDFM solo live. He did a great job with Don't stop me now, though, that last descending run in the Live Killers version takes it to an even higher level. |
notimeforlosers 24.09.2012 16:05 |
Weren't the guitars on Back Chat recorded by John? |
tomchristie22 24.09.2012 17:58 |
I don't know which guitars were John and which were Brian, the solo is definitely Brian though. I'd imagine the clean riff throughout the song is John. |

It's too bad Brian did not play other guitars more often. While the solo, technically, may not be his best, the tone is incredible. A bit refreshing, actually. |

A bit refreshing, actually.Sometimes I'm so glad I cannot differentiate between what is "technically" good and what isn't. So relieving to be able to simply listen to the music, with ears open. That's all. |
