We are still talking about new freddie recordings (for Queen). The only 'new' things we can listen to is multitracks of some songs.
They have lots of recordings in de most extended way.
Sometimes little songs, sometime jam sessions or rare live performances. The only thing we want is something new and Queen knows that. What is the reason why they keep it all unreleased. Probably it will cost much more then the effort they put into it. I hope universal will convince them to release more stuff and combine this with the 5.1 DTS release of more albums. So the first 5 albums (1 has actually been released in 5.1) and then make a box of it.
The live stuff will be released on separate dvd's and I think that is no problem.
What are your thoughts regarding Queen boxes at this moment? I think we have to think positive. When we are all negative, the progress will be slower for sure.
The only people who will get to hear anything unreleased in a Queen Anthology boxset will be my grandchildren and the rest of their generation (and my daughter is 2 by the way).
Those of us who were around and helped paid the bands mortgages back in the day when Freddie was alive will all be dead and fucked over as a result.
We were all positive for the first 5 years after official confirmation, then the next 5 dragged by. And now those of us left who remember are just crying into our old fan club magazines.
"Those of us who were around and helped paid the bands mortgages back in the day when Freddie was alive will all be dead and fucked over as a result."
Much as I would love more 'proper' Queen product released, this statement is disgraceful.
Queen do not owe us anything. Remember that.
To me, they are not interested in that kind of releases... I mean, they havent released their last few videos (as far as I know) and considering the amount of money Universal will do with rereleases, I dont expect anything new in the next 5 years... Unless someone decided to rerecord Bohemian Rhapsody/Somebody to Love (or perhaps the whole ANATO/ADATR albums) the way "Freddie wanted but couldnt achieve" and replaced the multilayered operatic parts with real opera and Gospel singers...

2017....that's when i think there'll be something worthwhile...just in time for christmas
part of a Fred's Dead (25 years) commemorative package
Freddie hated to be called Fred.
Freddie died in 1991.
Just saying.
sorry. think i put that badly
firstly Fred's Dead is a slightly better play on words than Freddie's Deadie
secondly the 2017 was more a dig at QPL - in that any 25th anniversary stuff will NOT be on time... i was continuing the theme of lateness expressed by other posters
ps - i KNOW when he died, i KNOW where i was when i heard it..cos i didn't hear about it til the monday morning at 5:30 am - driving down from the midlands to london for work
So are these forums good for anything besides talking about what Queen are or aren't doing? Or what they should or should not be doing? Or about how Brian giving a shit about animals is somehow taking too much time from Queen?
Yes I've done the odd criticism too, but this is getting a little old. Just like a post above, these guys do not owe us anything! I'm happy to have their music to listen to at the end of the day. Oh and for those of you who will tell me I should fuck off, maybe you should. This is the greatest band that's ever existed and they can't please everybody. Hell, I'm STILL scratching my head over 'Delilah', but I do know that what they release is up to them. Wanna know why? Because it is their band and not your's.
i agree with your post ^^^ (almost) completely...they can't please everyone, and it's their music to with as they please
but as for greatest band? - they may be my favourite, but as a longtime (38 yrs) queen fan i accept they will never be the greatest ever. that honour belongs to the beatles
It's funny how someone mentions 2017 as a dig to Queen Productions and we might not even get it by then.
Reminds me several years ago when someone reported talking to Jim Beach outsinde of some event and he said the Queen Anthology would be released in 2009.
It should have been about 2005 or before because 2009 sounded WAAAAY in the future... some people in the forum were skeptical and said there was now way Queen Productions would take that long to do the Queen box.
How things change. Now 2017 doesn't seem that bad, haha :)
Screw all that unreleased stuff. What I'd like to see is a nice Greatest Hits package, if possible with some collaboration with new and exciting singers added. Who needs an old poofter from the 70's when you can have Jessie J or Freddie's favourite singer Adam?

Sounds great! However, I will only buy it if it has a poor cover design, if it promises new pictures and doesn't deliver, and if there are some typos in the booklet.
We should all contact the Rock Band people and get more multitracks leaked. They are a million times more interesting and worthwhile than some studio out takes and abandoned songs (abandoned for very good reasons..)
while i would agree with your point almost 100%, there is always the chance of a "free as a bird" or "real love" in amongst all the unfinished sh*t, and i for one, welcome the chance to hear them
but the multis are always welcome too
