Comments and corrections welcome ! Starts with SHA and does not include covers (Big Spender, Jailhouse Rock etc) Two quick comments : ADATR and NOTW tours brought most ANATO tracks to the stage, and from Jazz onwards room had to be made for new material only, except for the crazy Early Queen resurrections of the Works 84 setlist ! The magic tour without somebody to love, princes of the universe, and, maybe, keep yourself alive, was very unfortunate, and my favorite setlist is the TW tour |

Excellent work, Fone Bone. Never seen it plotted out like this before. I think it's more accurate to use the word "devolution" for the years 1978-82. I can only imagine how disappointing it was for a lot of people to see Queen in 80 and 82 in the US. It was basically the same show as the last time, with old songs dropped and new songs added - no digging into the back catalogue. On the other hand, seeing the band in 1984 must have been fantastic in that regard. Nov/Dec 77 and April 1982 were probably the most interesting periods for the band on stage. If only there were more tapes of the former. If they plucked out Doing All Right for a single show at the Garden, who knows what else happened on that tour. Just a slight amendment: Brighton Rock was heard for most of the Opera tour. Son And Daughter was only there for a few nights, then reduced to just the last verse after Brian's solo. |

Don't forget Hot Space tour also added Body Language (unfortunately!) |
dysan 23.08.2012 15:25 |
I like Body Language live :o) |
Hangman_96 23.08.2012 17:02 |
Body Language did work fine as a live number. |

Very, very well done. I'd say the best tour (song-wise) was the Works Tour. Too bad there aren't any high-quality soundboard recordings of these early '84 gigs. |
tomchristie22 24.08.2012 01:31 |
Great to have it summed up like this - thanks for the effort! It must've been a pleasant surprise when they started introducing seemingly forgotten ANATO tracks like '39 and DOTL in '77. |

Now corrected and easier to read! Thanks for the nice comments, especially Bob, that means a lot considering the countless enriching hours I spent on your website! BOT What strikes me is once again the fact that the ANATO tour had a short and quite weird selection of ANATO tracks (Sweet Lady but no DOTL ?)whereas during the NOTW tour 8 out 12 songs off the record were performed! Also, Jazz means the end of a lot of things : all the vaudeville Freddie tracks dropped, staples from the early days too (Stone Cold Crazy, Liar) and no more digging in the back catalogue. That trend would go on until The Works. Indeed the medley must have been quite a shock for the older fans in 84, especially after the Hot Space Tour ! In the end NOTW and The Works stand as the best tours setlist-wise, although ANATO and Crazy Tour are probably superior in termes of performance |

The Works tour could have been in terms of setlist inclusion. But IMHO The Works tour in terms of sound, it was one of Queen's weakest eras with those atrocious electronic drums sounds. AOBTD was just horrible. Moreover, Hot Space songs live sounded great generally. Also, it's funny to realise how late ANATO songs were included in the live shows. If we see the famous Hammersmith concert, we just get Bo Rhap from ANATO (if I'm not wrong). In that tour, just 3 or 4 songs were played from the new album. So few songs, considering it was a number 1 album in UK, with a huge massive number 1 single. |

Ha ha ! They really weren't technically strong musicians (they rehearsed like fiends), and it probably took time to garner the confidence to play enough songs from their groundbreaking record live. In the end NOTW and The Works stand as the best tours setlist-wise, although ANATO and Crazy Tour are probably superior in termes of performanceSounds about right to me. But I'm sure no matter what they played, any Queen show would have been fantastic to witness. One of very few negative stories I've heard is Slane Castle in 86 where the band wasn't very loud, so if you were far away it wasn't much of an experience. Other than that, they could've played the phone book and knocked your socks off. |

Yeah, a shame the Works tour was the nadir of electronics and Freddie sounding gruff. I'd take those Japanese shows for ADATR as their best, but I must say I'm very pleased with Live Killers. |

Asuming Hangman was in the set on and off from the early days, maybe add it being dropped in 1977 |

My seventh Queen concert (six tours)....visually stimulating as always, but the oddest choice for a concert opener. Nice work on the list and its presentation. Some tweaking could be done here and there, as the setlists would change when they'd cross the pond. |
