Just felt like I had to counterattack the "Adam Lambert is Terrible" thread. |

The shows with Adam Lambert were enjoyable. He brought some flamboyance to the live show, which is part of what Queen had, but was missing from the Paul Rodgers shows. He was able to use more of his vocal range than Freddie ever did live, no I'm not saying he was better just that it was nice to hear some of the notes Freddie hit on the recordings being sung live. The atmosphere was better than the Q+PR shows and had more of a Queen show feeling. The lighting was better than the Paul Rodgers shows, it looked like a Queen show. Adam was himself on stage and they had a natural chemistry between them on stage and looked like they were enjoying what they were doing. Something missing since Freddie. The people who didn't like the shows for the most part were the ones who sat at home. If you didn't experience the atmosphere at the Apollo you're not in the best place to comment. If you were around in the early 70's you may remember that the people who hadn't seen the band were the ones saying they were rubbish and couldn't play. History repeating it's self here I think. Don't go looking for a Freddie clone/replacement. Adam Lambert put his own stamp on the songs, added more than Paul Rodgers did to the band, and something different to Freddie. |

Forcing this on us may work, it may not. My take? Great, great voice (hardly as advertised by Brian), fair to good singer, not sold that he can cut it for Queen. Fair or am I bitter that Freddie's dead? |

I disagree with both threads. |
pittrek 19.07.2012 00:59 |
Yes, they are a fantastic band. Just a couple of problems - the lead singer of this rock band can't sing rock songs - this rock band can't play rock songs anymore (they're playing way too slow) - 99% of their setlist consists boring hits played even slower than on the album |

pittrek 19.07.2012 03:19 |
I don't know. I've heard only the Ukraine gig and half of the Wroclaw gig so if they got better after these gigs, that's great |
queenUSA 19.07.2012 06:32 |
I was at the 14th gig and they sure sounded like rock songs to me. Fantastic is one adjective, however the British press used the word "electrifying." |
dysan 19.07.2012 10:21 |
The 14th was amazing. Like I say, lots of cock ups, but it was exciting. Lovely hearing the cheers go up when John was on the screen! |

Was there on the 14th also. Although, I was there more to see Brian and Roger - who played good, it's true to say AL did a decent job too. |

I was watching the Killer Queen documentary tonight and this great revelation turned up at 3:28 that explains the whole Adam Lambert thing. ;-) Roger (talking about Freddie): He sounded a bit like a sheep when we first met him. Baaaaa... link |
Missreclusive 19.07.2012 23:21 |
Well yeah, however, there is such a thing as overkill! Um, thx for shooting this to the top of the list, argh. Can you tell I don't care for AL? LOL Goat, sheep, squirrel, banshee, cat stuck in tree? I tell you I really can't see any connection between Freddie and AL in any way except well..yes, that one for which Freddie paid for dearly. AND, I think Freddie had a lot of class. Shall I go on? No, sit down and shut up, ok, will do. |

So bitter. :) |
brENsKi 20.07.2012 04:42 |
re^^^^ you need to make the distinction between "bitter" and simply "not liking something" the whole thing is simple: roger and brian have a complete right to do with the queen name whatever they like, and fans have a complete right to pass their own opinions on it...doesn't make them bitter... i would say that from the descriptions used, that the post above your own is definitely a "not liking" |
Missreclusive 20.07.2012 17:35 |
Thanks b, and true, a definite "not liking". I completely agree that R and B will do what they will and I don't have to agree with it nor like it. It saddens me though to see the legacy sound dramatically changed. DO sumthin new and different! To swla, not a bitter bone in this body. You can not expect to be a diehard AL fan here and have all in agreement with you, and in fact, I think most of the true Queen fans will not see AL as a breath of fresh air. There are those enjoying seeing B and R performing and havin fun. Great! I agree with that but am not that into them without John and Freddie and why? I haven't heard anything I really really like out of them since Queen was Queen. I keep hoping for it. QE brought the sound I love back and for those 2 hours I was in bliss. All of this just lets me know John and Freddies influence on Queen the sound, the songs, the show back in the day. Huge. |

Throwing random Lambert videos on Queenzone isn't going to change anybody's mind what they think about him. |

He's actually pretty good. With his OWN songs |

Also, note, the face sorta looks like AL, if you gave her dark short spikey hair! Yet, a pleasant cover of the song AND, I don't have to watch AL's over-theatric self. All I say about the version you posted AdamM, is the black and white was interesting. No one can beat Freddie, and I suppose that isn't even an argument here.someonewholikesadam wrote: Check out this video on YouTube: linkHe fiddles constantly with the ear monitors at his own shows too! I'd choose this one. linkI love the Katherine Jenkins version! It sounds vaguely Celtic which is a bonus because I got into Queen through Highlander (movie and TV show) and I love Celtic music. :D I didn't mean Adam's version of WWTLF is the best version next to Freddie's, just that (IMO) it's his best performance of a Queen song. (I think I figured out the secret of fixing the quoting of posts -- make sure the closing QUOTE tag is on a different line that the rest of the quote and it doesn't mess up!) |

I guess some of the posters above weren't getting enough attention anymore at the terrible thread and headed here. How nice. |
