Just got this email through... Queen Concert Movie ‘Hungarian Rhapsody’ On The Big Screen For The First Time At A Cinema Near You From 20th September 2012 Queen Concert Movie ‘Hungarian Rhapsody’ On The Big Screen For The First Time At A Cinema Near You From 20th September 2012 Hungarian Rhapsody: Queen Live In Budapest ‘86 is a must–see event for Queen fans released in cinemas worldwide from 20 September 2012. The film is expected to play on screens in over 30 territories worldwide. In the UK it will be screened in all the major cities, around 100 cinemas nationwide. Cinema listings and ticket booking links will be available soon at link with new venues being added on a regular basis. Originally filmed in 1986, this momentous concert movie has been re-mastered in high definition and superb 5.1 surround sound for its first–ever cinema screening and opens with a special 25 minute documentary feature following legends of rock, Queen, from just after their historic show–stealing performance at Live Aid on 2 July 1985 through the following year leading up to the concert in Budapest. As part of the hugely successful 1986 Magic Tour that, poignantly, was the last to be played by Freddie Mercury, Queen were for the first time able to include Hungary on the tour schedule. With three years to go before the fall of the Berlin Wall, this was the largest concert ever staged at the Népstadion, Budapest, and the first Western Rock Concert staged in a stadium behind the then Iron Curtain. It was of such significance to the Hungarian authorities and film industry that a group of the country’s top film cameramen and technicians were brought together to film it for posterity. Staged for 80,000 ecstatic fans, the concert set includes favourite hits like Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, I Want To Break Free and We Are The Champions. The resulting concert movie has been digitally re-mastered for the big screen and is introduced by a documentary feature that gives the inside track on events leading up to the Budapest concert. Using archive footage from rehearsals, interviews with the band and on the road during the Magic Tour – some of which has never been seen before – this fascinating intro feature has been specially created for the cinema release. “We’re delighted that Queen fans across the world will finally have the chance to relive this amazing moment for the band. We knew a stadium concert in Budapest was ground–breaking, but hadn’t quite anticipated what a historic night it would turn out to be. The concert looks fantastic on the cinema screen in all its digitally re-mastered glory and the documentary does a great job of setting the scene – it really was an extraordinary time in the band’s history.” Brian May and Roger Taylor Hungarian Rhapsody: Queen Live In Budapest ‘86 – a fantastic opportunity to dress up, sing along and celebrate the magic of Queen at your local cinema. Cinema listings and ticket information coming soon at link **** Release date: 20 September 2012 Running time: 115 minutes Certificate: TBC Production Credits Directed by JÁNOS ZSOMBOLYAI Executive Producers JIM BEACH and LÁSZLÓ HEGEDÜS |

Omg The biggest crap in the world. Don't tell me they will release the same thing they released almost 30 years ago but only in hd. The only excuse i can find for this is "marketing movement" Unlike montreal i am quite sure they do have the full show. Both audio and video. What i think, and i really hope i am right, is that after they release it on cinemas they will include "extra footage on the bd/dvd release" liks "extended version of the concert" to be sure they have nice sell numbers. If that's not the case, in the future instead of having a 70's era concert we may have a new release of the budapest "full concert". Hope that does not happen |

I'm hoping they will find all the Budapest negative reels some day. But,I'm even more hoping they'll release Hammy'79 one day soon. Remember: It has also been said that the multi track for Hammy'79 was lost. Now, recently I've heard rumours that this multi track has been found. I'm now hoping for a Hammy'79 release one day soon:-) In my estimation the multi track Hammy'79 is even more important than the uncut video of Budapest '86... A double Hammy DVD would be the ultimate Christmas present for me:-) (certainly if they also release cd versions:-) |

As the negative edit was found in top form, that probably means we will see a perfect transfer from the very original film shot , even without the ugly yellow credits because it might not be on the negative, only the positive transfer. I am sure with the transfer quality everyone will be happpy, either it was done by the hungarian film laboratory or in london by someone else, i have no clue - but in both cases I assume it is a 4K HD transfer, so with the picture and the sound everyone will be happy. The "lost" footage is lost because nobody cared for it when it was still there. Thats all i can say. |

first, if they took the trouble of remastering it, they will be thinking of adding something new. Like they did with wembley, the original release was incomplete, then in 2004 they added the songs missing and released a very nice product, then, it's very different from the montreal release, since they had all the rights on the footage they taped, also by the hints Miklos gave its very probalble that they will release it complete for the home release. In case this does not happen at least they can release the full audio show. Only time will tell, Just wait and see |

The press release makes no mention of the audio being remixed, and only refers to 'remastered 5.1 sound', which is bizarre when you need a 5.1 mix in the first place to remaster, but there wasn't! I'm betting that the sound will not be remixed from the original tapes like Montreal, but we'll just get a fake 5.1 mix expanded from the stereo mix, which is what they did with Wembley (bad). Still, as others have pointed out the press release (as with nearly all queen press releases) has some other factual inaccuracies such as stating that it's the first ever cinema screening, which it isn't, so we'll see. |

Could not agree more, way too much Freddie on the art work these days. They could easily include the Guitar guy, and that nice lad who played Bass, or the good looking one. :-) Seriously though, It's all down to marketing. The average pleb buying music these days has the attention span of a goldfish. You put four guys on the cover, and from 3 feet away on the shelf it looks like everything else, it just blends in. Bang Freddie on it and it stands out, the pleb recognises and buys said thing. Freddie = $$$$£££££$$£$££$ |

Hangman_96 05.08.2012 14:59 |
Could've been worse... Given the latest circumstances, they could have even placed Lambert on there, so stop moaning. |

lol, what tha heck is wrong with you people? |

Queen was my favourite singer ever. He could have used a better backing band though, the one he had was incompetent, especially the guitarist. |

Having Freddie only in the DVD covers for the live shows means that his fellow band members regard him fondly as the greatest frontman in the world. |

This is the release i was waiting for! For me, Budapest is the best gig ever recorded by QP, so i'll buy for sure. I'll be a little disappointed if the rumors are true and they don't release the full gig. But in first place, Queen made something incredible playing in Budapest, and in second, they filmed it, in 35 mm no less! Something very rare for the time. Too bad QP don't search for the unused film in the 90', but still, Queen win 2-1. And for the artwork, is ok. They want the face of the band in front, that doesn't mean nothing. |

Of everything, I'm looking forward to the audio and video being at the right speed at last |
pittrek 06.08.2012 11:22 |
What makes you feel they will fix the speed ? The Tokyo 75 footage which was released last year was converted from PAL to NTSC, but still it plays too fast |
Wiley 06.08.2012 14:54 |
I don't believe that pic is the DVD art but the poster for the concert's run in movie theaters. Has a BluRay or DVD release been confirmed? |

I live in (probably false) hope Pittrek! |

Budapest will be a worldwide release, and may end up being the highest quality Queen concert ever seen. If they're doing it in 5.1, I highly doubt they'd go out of their way to speed up the audio from their multi-tracks. But we shall see.. |

Yes Pittrek I do see the pattern and that Freddie is front and center, exactly where a "frontman" should be. I don't feel it takes away from the others and apparently they don't either. |
tomchristie22 08.08.2012 01:59 |
While this is true, Freddie was never supposed to be the 'frontman' - they've actually made a very big point of that over time, particularly Freddie himself. He was the lead vocalist and pianist, not the frontman. |

semantics |s?'mantiks| the branch of linguistics and logic concerned with meaning. There are a number of branches and subbranches of semantics, including formal semantics, which studies the logical aspects of meaning, such as sense, reference, implication, and logical form, lexical semantics, which studies word meanings and word relations, and conceptual semantics, which studies the cognitive structure of meaning. • the meaning of a word, phrase, sentence, or text: such quibbling over semantics may seem petty stuff. *wink-wink*!!! haha!! |

Take me to your frontman, earthlings! |
Missreclusive 08.08.2012 10:03 |
LOL@ Holly, I go back to ..what tha heck is wrong with you people?!! I nearly know I've seen an interview where Freddie admitted being the "frontman" for Queen and of course he said they were all equal partners in Queen. I can not believe anyone would say he wasn't the frontman. |
