It's been mentioned recently that a new Freddie documentary is in production. Rhys Thomas has confirmed that he is making this and has in fact finished it, and it's called 'Freddie Mercury - The Great Pretender'. I presume that after his work with the Queen doc, they were impressed enough to sign him up for a Freddie one, in order to have more 'in house' control of this as opposed to DoRo's 'The Untold Story' which didn't even interview Roger! |

I'm lookin forward to this! about the lack of Roger in The Untold Story; I've always wondered about that.. I can't imagine they DIDN'T ask him... |
Holly2003 02.06.2012 06:03 |
So far he's done a better job that any of the crap documentaries DoRo made. |
Freddie rey 02.06.2012 06:32 |
It seems that this documentary will be on the next Freddie's releases that it says on Freddie For A Day site. It make sense |

Would be great to have it released on Freddie's 66th birthday. |

I hope it will include more interview of Barbara Valentin. In "The Untold Story" there were just few seconds... And I think it's great title of the documentary. |
cmsdrums 02.06.2012 06:55 |
I really hope they concentrate more on his musical output as opposed to who he socialised with, went to school with etc.... Whilst that's good stuff, it's already been covered. I wonder if there's any behind the scenes footage of Freddie in the studio working on Mr Bad Guy or Barcelona, or some extra stuff like the Bob Harris footage of Freddie in the studio with Queen which we haven't seen yet. Rhys Thomas has said that he flew out to speak to Mack, so it seems promising that those closest to Freddie in his music making will be probed in new interviews. |

I just hope it won't be accompanied by a new Greatest Hits of Freddie's "hits". |
GT 02.06.2012 13:25 |
And the new documentary will contain much new and unseen footage. |
rocknrolllover 02.06.2012 13:31 |
Would I like to know the date of release |
I hope it will include more interview of Barbara Valentin
You'll do well...she died over 10 years ago. |
cmsdrums 03.06.2012 05:30 |
Mack, Dave Richards, Mike Moran, Dave Clarke, Bri Rog and John - these are all the sort of folks I'd like to see interviewed extensively. Barbara Valentin? Not really gonna give us a huge insight into Freddie's work is it?..... |
Hangman_96 03.06.2012 08:02 |
I doubt John will be interviewed ever again. |

Yeah, that's really witty... :-D |

Good info!... Looking forward to this. Hopefully it'll be inclusive of John. The guys a legend himself...get up off the couch, John!!! |
tomchristie22 04.06.2012 06:27 |
Well, I doubt John will be involved, for all we know it might still be too painful for him to talk about Freddie. And this looks pretty interesting, I look forward to it. The Untold Story was pretty disappointing (and cringe worthy at times). |

I'd really like to see a documentary about Freddie's battle with AIDS. There's a fascinating untold story there that I'd like to hear. It's over 20 years since he died now and the people he knew are getting old (if they haven't passed away already themselves), soon it will be too late. Freddie's bravery in his last days was something else and now people are surviving this disease, it will be a reminder of a time when AIDS was an automatic death sentence. |

I'd much prefer to see documentaries about his fantastic musical ability rather than about his painful illness and death. |

Due out in september on t.v. and Blu ray according to rhys thomas website. should be good. It's 86 mins long and will focus on mr. bad guy, the great pretender and the barcelona album. Unseen footage galore as well. |

To be fair, Blu ray players hardly cost anything these days - £30 will get you one in the uk, and most new pcs and laptops play them too |
Fastidious and Precise 22.06.2012 07:21 |
well, there's no mention of a dvd so we shall have to wait and see. can't see why the would'nt issue a dvd version though as they did with the days of our lives release. |

Well I don't know but the fact that Brian and Roger are getting older isn't really something I like to think about, or glorify through documentaries for that matter |
