So does this mean that Deacon is popping out of the woodwork? link
"It's the first time the surviving members of Queen have licensed songs and music publishing rights for a movie about the band. Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon formed Queen Films to be involved with the production, though it remains unclear whether Baron Cohen will perform the musical numbers himself."
I cant find anything about "Queen Films"
No idea about Deacon: I'm certain he's involved somewhat as he will be represented/depicted in any Queen bio film
I still hate the notion of Sacha b Cohen being cast as FM, its ludicrous;
At best; he was a 'comedic' actor who was hit/miss with ethnic stereotypical roles (again in the Dictator) which support mainstream violence and debasement of another society.
That and a quick stint as a "humorous exageration of a fashionista", which at times did show the ridiculousness of the so called fashion industry
He was also a bad actor in Hugo, and that was a dramatic/semi-comedic role.
Would seem like another case of the "hewish" monopoly on entertainment if its an american production...cause I don't see how he merits consideration as a serious actor... What happened to the suggestions of Johnny Depp or someone who at least HAD several serious roles (Donnie Brasco being the best)
I've kinda swayed in the past couple years being an "avid fan"...but these graspings for attention seem more and more diminutive... (Even IF Adam Lambert does have a singers range)
Wow. Where are the other 2 posts made for this topic?
This IS a forum to host opinions and feedback is it not?
Anyways, any SERIOUS inquiries should be made to Brian May on his soapboax.
Doubtless, John is involved in at least some "green-lighting" on his own representation/depiction.
Since when did qz start deleting posts?
Yeah, Cohen wouldn't be my first choice either....
I figured that Deacon wouldn't really make an appearance (Doesn't mean I cant be hopeful that he will though)
I'm amazed how much 'informal' knowledge folks have about the extent of John's involvement. I just remember reading Brian's words, a few years ago, "and all three of us are involved". As far as I'm concerned, apart from recording the fact (as above) no other comments were made neither by the moviemakers, Bri - Rog or John himself. Because it's a big project and one which relates to his own years with Queen, I wouldn't be surprised if John actually wanted to have his say this time. I might be wrong, of course:)

the only way JD is involved is cashing his cheques
Have you forgotten about the "casting couch" for the female supporting cast??
I remember an article somewhere that implied he was a great connosieur! ;)
(Hey, so am I as far as looking goes at least)
