Hey...
So a couple days ago I was at a school-related event and talking to a friend of mine, and he wants to see what kind of music I have on my ipod. A little weird, but I show it to him. I think he liked it overall, and was a bit impressed by my somewhat massive Queen library. So, I ask to see what kind of stuff he has on his ipod. I skim through it, and he seems to have some good stuff. Plenty of Pink Floyd, Metallica and Black Sabbath, among others. Other aspects of his taste I wasn't so fond of, however. Too much Nickelback for me, and no Led Zeppelin However, what particularly blew me away was his Queen library.
Of Queen, he has six albums. Four compilation albums: Greatest Hits I, II and III, Classic Queen, and two normal albums: A Kind of Magic and Cosmos Rocks.
Okay, so I had two questions for him. One: why do you have Greatest Hits II and Classic Queen when they're largely the same thing? Two: huh?

That or he assumed it was different from what he had... when i first got into Queen i did something like that too lol. (But don't blame me, i wasn't used to the internet at the time, and the music shops in my town didn't stock anything else!)
i'd be more interested in why so many compilations?
this underlines the fact that the non-queen public see them as a singles-only band?
secondly, why are the only two "proper albums" AKOM and the cosmos rocks? of all the alsbums to have...fucking jeez
opera, races, II, I, notw, jazz, sha, anything BUT those two
That's basically what I was wondering, but couldn't put my confusion into words very well. The compilations do suggest he sees Queen as a singles band, but the normal studio albums suggest he knows a little more than average folks. However, it's what some see as their worst normal studio album and that one thing Brian and Roger did years after Freddie died and John left. It's just...weird.
I'll have to show him some stuff from Opera or something like that soon.

Yeah, I kind of did that too, and then I deleted all my duplicates when I started downloading real albums until eventually I didn't have anything from the Greatest Hits albums left. I don't think any of his duplicates were taken off, though...

Well... i still have greatest hits in my car and on my ipod... sometimes i'm just in the mood for a blasting of happiness and i listen to GH1
And yes, i do appreciate and enjoy the albums more, but sometimes i just need it :/
