Apologies if this topic has already been covered (couldn't find it on the search) but I thought I would let you know about a fantastic book I have just read 'Queen in Cornwall' by Rupert White. It covers the rise of Queen from their roots in Smile and mainly follows Rogers early life in Truro Cornwall. It gives great details about Rogers early bands and in depth info about his time and gigs with The Reaction. A really interesting read about all Rogers early girlfriends, gigs, homelife, friends and the music scene in Cornwall in the early to late sixties. Many great newspaper clips and posters from The Reaction to Queens first gigs in Cornwall. It also describes the make and break of Smile and the birth of Queen (or as Brian wanted to call them 'How To Build a Boat' ...honest!!!. Lots of new info (for me anyway) and some great quotes from people who new Smile/Queen in their early days. Some people thought Freddie was not a great singer and actually blamed him for some poor perforamnces early on. Many such tales and well worth a read.
