Not an artist, but Barry George, the stalker who was convicted of Shooting BBC newsreader and journalist Jill Dando used to pretend he was related to Freddie Mercury and Gary Glitter, they always use Queen clips in documentaries about him.
Classic Albums ... whatever that's called... on Metallica's Black Album, James mentions Brian as his inspiration for the layered guitars on 'Nothing Else Matters' (the idea then snowballed into Michael Kamen being asked to score an orchestra, and the rest is history). Also on Pistols' Bollocks, their producer (I think) mentions how they were sharing the studio with Queen and how Johnny Rotten once met him (yes, I know there's a famous story about Sid Vicious but this is *a different anecdote*).
The Metallica documentary 1992 has a bit about the Freddie Mercury Tribute in 1992. Quite funny when Spinal Tap challenged Metallica backstage about the black album :-)
