Hello. I made a remix from the stems of Play the Game without the synthesizers. I think it works very well, I was afraid it might sound hollow or not quite right but I think it works out well. Let me know in the comments what you think. I've got several more mini-remixes if people show interest. I've been a long time lurker in the forums but because the site was not accepting new users I couldn't join until recently. Enjoy the mix. |

I like what you did.. good job! |
brENsKi 02.04.2012 11:39 |
"what he did" ??????????????? it appears to me that "what he did" was:- 1. downloaded the multitrack stems 2. loaded them into audacity 3. muted or deleted the "synth" and "extras" ogg files 4. mixeddown the remainder 5. saved as mp3 file if you did something else, then i can't hear it...and i apologise in advance for misjudging your efforts if this (1-5 above) are more or less what you did, then please stop this now |
smeagolheart 02.04.2012 19:25 |
@brENskie: I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it. @stuyvesant: I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's a small change but I think the composition sounds better. I think a lot of us when we first heard this song (and album) wished Queen hadn't made such a synth heavy album. I think this song sounds much better, more like Classic Queen this way. |
stuyvesant 03.04.2012 08:23 |
@smeagolheart yes indeed I agree with you I remember when The Game was released and Queen never used the 'No Synths' Tag on their Previous Work ..Yes I do prefer Classic Queen as well @ Brenski why you so Harsh? Its a Queen Fan Mix Forum Embrace these clever people |

stuyvesant wrote: @ Brenski why you so Harsh? Its a Queen Fan Mix Forum Embrace these clever peopleit's really not clever. believe me all of the multitrack stems of 20 queen songs have been available for months now. what has been done here can be done in less time than most computers actually boot up to windows from cold. 1. load audacity 2. drag ogg/mogg files into window 3. cut beginning end silence 4. identify tracks you wish to delete, and um, er, oh...delete them? 5. click file-save as 6. upload to mediafire please don't insult me for criticizing something that brings nothing really new to the table. do you not think that everybody who ever downloaded the stems has tried "muting" certain elements in audacity, adobe audition, n-track, soundforge or reaper? this is extremely simple stuff, and certainly not the big deal you imply it is |
smeagolheart 03.04.2012 21:06 |
Feel to create and upload something better and put it out there for criticism. For me and others, this song just sounds good this way. I can listen to this again and again and prefer this over the original. |

smeagolheart wrote: Feel to create and upload something better and put it out there for criticism..see my reply to you in "somebody to love" thread. this kind of "mine is better than yours" bollox only gives away your immaturity and age. if you put your stuff up there, then you should expect people to like and dislike it, and you shouldn't shoot people down for giving valid reasons why your "remix" is poor smeagolheart wrote:For me and others, this song just sounds good this way. I can listen to this again and again and prefer this over the original.you will be in an insignificant minority. believe me. ok you don't. then start a youtube channel, put your files up there and watch the comments come in. i think the only reason you put your stuff on here is you thought the younger less savvy fans on QZ would lap this stuff up. that is not endorsement of quality if you want to get a feel for quality re-mixing/mashing listen to some of these: C_Matt's "The Show Must Go On ('Fairytale' Mix)" LONG AWAY - Herr von Keil's 1983 Zodiacal Dust Cloud Remix C_Matt's "One Vision ('Blurred Shock' Mix)" Don't Stop Me Now (2011 Fickle Mix) - Talenthouse contest Don't Stop Me Now (PiotreQ Live Remix) [Talenthouse contest] It's A Beautiful Vision (Fickle Mix) The show must go on (FM-Tribute video mix) danielvZ ..i'm sure if you're being honest you wouldn't put yours in the same sentence when talking about remixing. listen to what these people did, it's genuinely something new, interesting and has required a talented ear and no small amount of skill. |
Lord Fickle 04.04.2012 18:31 |
Thanks for the recommendation! I'd also recommend PiotreQ's Bohemian Rhapsody Orchestral Mix, which is one of the best I've ever heard on here. |
smeagolheart 07.04.2012 10:54 |
I never said mine was better than yours, because you don't have any remixes at all. My point is that it is easy to criticize, difficult to create and unlike you I created something. You know what they say about opinions right? There is room for more than one remix out there if you don't like something just move on with your life instead of trying to stomp it. I do like some of the mixes you list. The Zodiac mix is great and I love Lord Fickle's mixes. If you actually made any mixes I might like some of yours or I might not, I wouldn't spend days of energy bitching in your threads because I'm not a troll like you son. |
Lord Fickle 07.04.2012 11:13 |
I'm sure Brenski can fight his own battles, but I don't think it's entirely fair to call him a troll. He posted an honest, but blunt, appraisal on a mix, and he's entitled to his opinion. If mixes are posted in here, then the mixer has to be prepared to accept all comments, good and bad. I don't see the need for anyone to be abusive to other people in here. It's not the "Serious" forum, after all. ;) |

"Play the Game" multitracks loaded Bri: "tell you what, let's just mute the synths on this track" Rog: "yeah, ok" Bri: "wow, let's do ths with the whole album, sounds cool" Rog: "and the c*nts will buy it whatever we put out" ...now if they did that, then YOU'D be the fucking first to moan....to summarise, you have not REMIXED anything, you have MUTED a track. |

brENsKi wrote:Well really B, it's not your place to be the quality control now is it? It's up to each individual to decide what they want to keep and listen to. You've admitted that you've only kept around 20 fan mixes that you like. I have a collection of maybe 70 or more. They're not all great and awesome but they all present an alternative to the released versions and sometimes it's nice to hear. So who are you to decide?smeagolheart wrote: brenski wrote: you might actually produce soemthing worthwhile Thanks for encouragement, someday you may too. To hear certain mixes, even with "just" elements removed was sufficiently mind-blowing. If someone comes along and doesn't have the stems or Karaoke or 'the Eye' it's quite revelatory. Not everyone wants to go to the trouble of downloading the stems and loading them up in an editor. Now, as far as your scenario, that is precisely what Queen actually did for the re-issues! "You're My Best Friend" backing track... "I'm in Love with My Car" guitar and vocal mix... "Bicycle Race" instrumental... et al. Maybe it didn't blow your skirt up but if you haven't heard the songs that way it's pretty interesting. So let the guy do what he wants. Don't DL it and listen to it if you don't want to. Who cares? For somebody who really doesn't like fan remixes you spend a lot of time trying to moderate the board. Go outside. Happy Easter. |
brENsKi 08.04.2012 12:42 |
you're being unfair - either that or you choose to twist my words to suit your rather weak argument i never said i was the quality control (check again - tell me where i said it) they did it with say one track or so per album - not a whole cd of extras done like it. - again you twist the facts. what has been done here - anyone with an editor can do - i have done it also - but it's not worthy of calling a remix. if people were honest then some of us wouldnt have to waste our time downloading something we wouldn't be interested in. it claims to be a remix without synths...it's just the original version minus one audio track. i am not trying to moderate anything - i am passing my opinion on what he has done - as opposed to what he claims to have done. he calls them remixes - they really aren't and who the f*** are you to tell me that i can't pass whatever opinion i like on the quality or otherwise of someone's "remixes"? moderator? moderate thyself |

Don't you have anything constructive to do with your life brenskie? Take a shower, walk the dog or something... Does this all really mean so much to you that you have to reply to everything even when this really has nothing to do with you personally? You made your point you don't like this Queen song and have very high standards for editing so much so that you are afraid to put anything out that is not perfect and so will probably never put anything out. Nothing wrong with that. I'm calling my songs "edits" to make you happy, because you are right I didn't turn this into a disco track or something totally different. And that's not what I wanted to do here. I'm sorry if you had different expectations. I recommend Kacio, when she does a remix it is usually really different from the original. This isn't Brenskie's thread, feel free to make your own and hang out there it might be interesting to converse with people positively like about which ones you like or don't. |
brENsKi 09.04.2012 03:46 |
i could say the same about you...you're the one who feels the need to keep defending your non-remixes. ps - i don't have a dog pps - i take two showers a day ppps - please spell my name rightly in future, or i may make some "remixes" of your name btw - am now disengaging myself from this thread because i DO comment on what i think are good and bad remixes - and i say why i think it. pity is one of this sites most respected mixers said the same thing about your "mix" - but still you disregard the validity of the point made, because you'd rather accept the fawning praise of sychophants who love anything queen, and probably get a thrill out of opening a bag of M&Ms and seeing loads of extra blue ones |

Ok cya. Make your own threads and remixes the more the merrier says I. |
