in fact who cares what any poll says?
who's actually winning these polls?
i'll tell you who - 13 yr old kids arguing in playgrounds that "my favourite singer is better than yours"...all pretty pointless, enjoy the music, but little worth in the debate/discussions of these polls as opinion is subjective
and whipping up the interest by inciting people to vote makes the poll even less worthy of any kind of "official recognition"
Voted for Freddie. I know its just a silly NME poll but still I just want to try and help him win things lol. If I can contribute to Freddie gaining ever increasing popularity and new Queen fans long into the 21st century ill be happy.
whyever?
i can't understand why "contributing to freddie gaining new fans" could "make you happy"
surely as queen are/were a band - the only thing that should make you happy about them would be you enjoying the music...why care who else enjoys it?
unless you see it as a mission to convert the planet to queen? - what a boring place it'd become - the cosmos definitely wouldnt rock
The shit thing about those polls are - Wiki includes their results on the wiki Freddie Mercury page. As an example it was included that Rolling Stone editors voted Freddie Mercury 18th greatest singer(which we all know is bollocks). And NME and Rolling Stone mag have forever done their best to crap on Queen. Maybe it shouldn't matter, and doesn't matter to other people here, but I for one find it a tad insulting to the memory or legacy of Fred.
Well I have to say, in terms of the greatest icon, as much as I love Freddie and as much as he's my favorite singer of all time, I have to go with Elvis.

you know what would really work with these pointlessly vacuous polls?
someone identifies the least likely winner, then a flashmob mentality takes over and word spreads and we all vote for the most obviously least popular one in the list
this'd completely and transparently discredit the c*nts
