Last night I caught the Biography Channel documentary on the life and rise of Jimi Hendrix. I was amazed to learn he had been in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. An injury during a training jump ended his service. After that he resumed perfecting his guitar skills as he recovered - and the rest is history. Pretty neat fact!
Also I was impressed at how he took time to write his father and family of his experiences, travels, hopes and dreams. Many portions of his letters were shared.
If you haven't seen it - check it out next time.
