I was thinking about legendary albums that supposedly define their genre - you know the typical ones; London Calling defines punk, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back defines hip-hop, Jagged Little Pill defines alternative (note: Jagged could be one of top five albums ever recorded, it's that awesome. Seriously)... do you think A Night At The Opera defines rock? Ironically, there's not much typical rock on there, but in true Queen sensibility, that's what actually makes it one of the truest rock albums of all. So, what do you think?
Nope. Who's next defines rock. Four Symbols defines rock. Electric ladyland defines rock. Even Van Halen's first album or Back in Black maybe. Queen never defined anything but themselves and there in lies their genius...
