Another amazing bass track and once again lots of details buried in the mix.
Sounds to me like Johns using a plectrum in this song, judging by the speed of those previously hidden runs.
I'm terrible at tabbing from ear, is it possible for anyone to accurately tab this song or at least tell me what he's doing at 35 seconds before the second verse and that very fast run at 1.03.
Cheers!

Thank you for doing this for us!!!!!!
Some help with the bass though please...
I'd say that this bass was a mixture of takes.(as was loads of Brian solo's noticeably IWIA solo.....Fred does it for vocals too.....very common occurance.)
If you listen to the 1:03 part he is playing low G (3rd fret E string) in quavers and then the 'sort of' chromatic run up(G-D) is also audible. Unless he has octopus arms it would be impossible.....)

It's simpler than that, really. There's a main bass track, played with what sounds like fingers to my ears, that I'd imagine was one whole take for the whole song. But there are about 4 or 5 overdubs throughout, mostly flourishes at the end of verses/sections of the song, that are played with a pick, and mostly added over the main bass part, so that we hear two basses at once.
The part at 00:35 sounds like it could just about have been played 'live' by the one bass, but I don't think it was. The part at 01:03 is definitely the main 'rhythm' bass with the overdubbed chromatic run layered over it.
