Honestly, I'm pretty happy with all the bonus features. I just have a few questions and comments: 1. When they show some of Don't Stop Me Now from Hammersmith '79 during the DSMN section, why is the quality so poor? I've seen that they have that show in better quality but the version they showed only looked slightly better than ours. 2. Did anyone notice that during the actual documentary they extended the BoRhap Rock Section Hyde Park footage? Now it includes nearly the whole Rock Section and doesn't cut off. 3. What was the point of showing the BBC version of Killer Queen that we're familiar of during the Killer Queen video when they showed the lost footage most of the time. Wouldn't it have made more sense to just have the whole thing be the lost footage? 4. The new footage of Rainbow '74 is very interesting. Do we now know for sure that the power went off during the second night? 5. What happened to all that high quality footage we saw of Japan '75 at the SIS Exhibition? Why were the songs they showed in the bonus features such poor quality... not to mention it ran way too fast? |

In fact Qp did the same trick with Wembley 1986. I always had the feeling when I saw a documentary after the official Wembley release in 2002/2003 they used a old grainy version of the concert for these docs. Strange indeed. 2) Yeah interesting. Freddie doesns't seems to go out of key so much as on the Boot QTV version. Maybe some audio repair/repatch was done. 3) I don't know. They completely forgot the Belgium 1974 studio recording aswell. We have that one in excellent quality 4) Yep GT made that point earlier in a tread. I was quite embarassing to see what happened. We will probably see that footage again in a official bonus disc 2 Rainbow release 5) Don't know. Ask GB or GT. |

Wouldn't it have made more sense to just have the whole thing be the lost footage? I believe the version of 'Killer Queen' from Top Of The Pops which was recently found in Dick Emery's collection was incomplete. I heard the recording began about 2/3s of the way in unfortunately. Is it just the first bit with the familiar footage, if so, that's probably the reason. |

I got a copy off eBay andI'm enjoying it sooooooo much. Ha ha ha epic answer!! About the Hamm 79 footage... it's rare but on the bonus videos with absolutest greatest (or even itunes) it has Excellent quality but for some reason on the doc the Hamm footage is only a tad better than the common vhs... The rainbow footage has Excellent quality but not so excellent in the doc. itself... i mean when i watched the documentary on the bbc internet channel i thought the quality of the bits from rainbow isn't soo good but now on the Blu ray the bits from Seven seas of Rhye, Liar and even stone cold crazy has much more quality that the bit showed on the documentary... It's strange but don't forget... is QUEEN...and everything can happen... GT said the show is on 1" or 2" tapes it isn't so good as 35 mm but is a good format anyway... |

obviously they dont give too much about finding the best quality versions of concert footage or interviews in their own archive - also still it seems they dont have access to master reels of DoRo footage , instead they are using bits from final products like Magic Years etc.. filled with drop-outs and grainy stuff. Tons of examples.. the John Deacon interview has constant video noise and objects, in most cases the old Magic Years VHS version looks better than the footage used here.. on the other hand, look at the CLTCL outtakes footage, shot on video 32 or so years ago, and still in perfect condition , no noise or dropouts... wonder why the rest like Kampuchea, Rainbow or some interviews are looking much worse - |

I've seen that they have that show in better quality but the version they showed only looked slightly better than ours. Not only that. The South American footage looks like they used something they downloaded from Queenzone :-) 2. Did anyone notice that during the actual documentary they extended the BoRhap Rock Section Hyde Park footage? Now it includes nearly the whole Rock Section and doesn't cut off. Thanks for mentioning it, I didn't notice it before. 3. What was the point of showing the BBC version of Killer Queen that we're familiar of during the Killer Queen video when they showed the lost footage most of the time. Wouldn't it have made more sense to just have the whole thing be the lost footage? That made me quite displeased too. The same goes for Seven Seas Of Rhye - why couldn't they simply release 4 COMPLETE performances instead of this damned "mashup" ? 4. The new footage of Rainbow '74 is very interesting. Do we now know for sure that the power went off during the second night? It's not only interesting, it's great. The backstage footage is much longer and features original audio. All previous documentaries used simply a transfer of the official VHS, including the appearance of the Queen crest after Freddie's head-shake. Could it be they found the master tapes after many years ? The video quality is better than on the VHS, but after a closer look it looks like they only darkened the video to "mask" all the video noise. The audio from the second night is NOT OVERDUBBED ! And Stone Cold Crazy features a brand new stereo mix. I hope it means we will get a proper "2 nights at Rainbow" DVD release soon. 5. What happened to all that high quality footage we saw of Japan '75 at the SIS Exhibition? Why were the songs they showed in the bonus features such poor quality... not to mention it ran way too fast? They have remastered the video and it looks and sounds perfect (from what I can tell from the clips) . According to some older news, the whole (?) video should be released on the Japanese Special Edition release of this documentary. So I don't understand what do you mean with "such poor quality" :-) They run too fast because of the PAL speedup, it's not "way too fast", just cca 4% :-) But it is a real mystery why didn't they slow down the video to the original speed, since the only format in which this was released is NTSC |

However it's a mystery for me why they combined black & white 4:3 FILM source with a colour 16:9 VIDEO transfer of the same source. The Deacon interview looks like an nth generation copy of a VHS copy of the original film :-) |

But I see no reason for the degraded quality of Rainbow, Kampuchea, Sao Paulo, etc, I do have better copy of Sao Paulo (and probably everyone else here has this one) than the one used on this video! Negligence, intentional degrade or whatever .. so typical of QPL. |
