I don't yet have the 2011 remaster of the Made In Heaven album, but I do have an import of Deep Cuts 3, which contains a standalone edit of "It's A Beautiful Day (Reprise)." I also own the original Hollywood Records 1995 CD with the original mastering and the 1995 LP, which also contains a similar (but not the same) edit.
I don't know if it's present on the 2011 remaster of MIH, but the Deep Cuts 3 edit of IABD-R has a longer opening than the 1995 CD and LP. I put all three into Audacity just to take a look side by side, to see if the extended intro wasn't just extra silence or if there wasn't something else going on. I lined them up with each other and there is indeed an extra 18 or 19 seconds more ambient music at the beginning of the Deep Cuts 3 version.
Can anyone with the 2011 remaster of MIHtell me if this extended intro is present there, too? If so, it means they expanded that track on this release of the album, which I'd classify as a significant alteration. Not necessarily a bad one, but purists might want to take note.
Also, unlike how it's mastered on the 1995 CD, obviously they've included the second, final "Yeah" (track 12 on MIH) on the same track as the first part of the song (keep in mind, I view the entire 25+ minute 3 tracks as all one song anyway) on DC3. There's no closing ambiance after that "Yeah," just silence.
This differs from the LP version, which (aside from not having the extra 18-19 seconds at the beginning) fades out after a few seconds of the ambient bit, after the 2nd "Yeah."
The 2011 "MIH" album remaster version is the same length as the original master's length.
They've basically given us a nice treat on the DC3 CD with it being uncut and unsegued.
Deep Cuts 3 also has the drum lead-in on "Khashoggi's Ship," not present on The Miracle album. This drum part is also present on The eYe instrumental of KS as well. Personally, I think the drums make for a better stand-alone version
So, yeah, two unique versions on DC3.
I just compared the DC3 version of IABD-R to the Single Version of IABD from the CDQUEENS21 single ("Heaven For Everyone") and lo, the extended 18-19 second intro is present on the Single Version, as well.
Interestingly, the Single Version features another different element, however (in addition to being a combination of tracks 1 and 11 from the album). At the end of the second verse, Freddie sings:
"It's a beautiful day,
I feel good, I feel right,
I feel good, I feel right,
And no one!
And no one!
No one's gonna stop me now."
The repeat of "And no one!" exists solely in the Single Version. In every other version, he only sings it once. It even adds a few more seconds to that part of the track.
The backing track to the Single Version is what was used on The eYe Instrumental Mix, as that repeat (without the vocal) is present there, too.
(And yes, I know it's all looped and edited samples of demo vocal and piano.)
