link At the bottom of the page, the RTL news (Netherlands) reporter claims he has a unique recording of the first Queen show in The Netherlands, The Hague 8 december 1974. He put a small fragment of Freddies welcoming speech and Killer Queen on this page. Is this a known recording? |
bokkepoot 24.11.2011 10:06 |
This is really amazing !! Never heard of a recording of this concert !! Anybody else ? |
GT 24.11.2011 10:15 |
There has been a rumour of this show being recorded for a long time now and apparently some footage too. One of many uncirculated and rumoured bootlegs to exist. But neither has seen the light of day unfortunately. And no, it's not in the Queen archives. |

What an amazing post! So, after all it does exist... and it has enjoyable sound, so really amazing! |
The Real Wizard 24.11.2011 12:14 |
Great to know it exists ! Can anyone manage to capture this audio so we can save it? Sometimes you can find a direct link in the source code, but not in this case... it's really embedded in there. |
MercurialFreddie 24.11.2011 12:19 |
I hope in the end the recording will make it to the bootleg scene. It REALLY needs some work to be put into it. (noise reduction etc.). What is more, it is nice to hear Freddie hitting all the right notes on the KQ as it show in the 75' they didn't have to overdub that much. |
Harry_queenrecordings 24.11.2011 12:23 |
I was just able to save the sample, it's mp3 format. Now uploading it. |
Harry_queenrecordings 24.11.2011 12:29 |
Here it is: link |
The Real Wizard 24.11.2011 12:50 |
You're the man, Harry ... thanks ! Agreed with Queenman. Only one person should be initiating the communication if we're going to try and get the complete recording. And of course this tape isn't in the Queen archives. It's an uncirculated audience recording. |
Rick 24.11.2011 13:29 |
Wow, amazing find! It seems either Brian or Freddie says 'Dankjewel' in the very beginning, which is 'Thank you' in Dutch. I could have misheard it, of course. |
The Real Wizard 24.11.2011 13:32 |
No, it's Brian saying "thanks a lot" :-) |
Rick 24.11.2011 13:35 |
Thanks. I knew I was wrong :-) |
jamster1111 24.11.2011 14:09 |
Is there any way someone could reupload the mp3 file? The mediafire file isn't working. Thanks and great quality recording! Surprised SirGH only gave it a B on his site as I easily think it deserves an A-. |
Harry_queenrecordings 24.11.2011 14:43 |
Here is it again, now through Mediafire: link |
The Real Wizard 24.11.2011 14:44 |
It's EQ'd nicely, but it's a bit distorted. I never want to over-rate, but on second thought B+ is fair. |

Hi All, Sorry to disturb your (and my dreams)..........but Rick the reporter has just that snippet, only that fragment, he got it from Radio Luxembourg, in 1974 Queen did a small European Tour, they did Holland for the first time and of course Luxembourg. The concert Queen gave in Luxembourg was broadcast, this I know for sure, as a teaser Radio Luxembourg had Killer Queen almost 24/7 throwing thru the ether..........something hot an amazing is gonna happen on your Radio........bloody well right they were................. But there seems to be a date discrepancy. As far as we know, Queen only played in Luxembourg in 1973, and it has been famously told that the show was intended to be broadcast, but somehow the gear failed and nothing was recorded ! Of course that could be wrong in some way, but there is no documentation of a Queen show in Luxembourg in 1974. A very interesting revelation here if your memory is correct ! Do you have a ticket stub or some kind of proof that there was a 1974 show? Furthermore, is there any way to get in touch with the folks at Radio Luxembourg to see if they can let a copy of either recording out? |

Harry_queenrecordings 25.11.2011 01:09 |
It's still strange as the tracklisting of the LP doesn't match with the sample which starts with Killer Queen right after the Freddie welcome speech, right? |
GT 25.11.2011 02:03 |
They would never of performed Doing All Right in the middle of the rock and roll medley. This obviously is not an original LP as blue vinyl and other colours were not around in 1974. And Bob is right, no date in Luxembourg was played in 1974, only in 1973. |

Harry_queenbootlegs wrote: It's still strange as the tracklisting of the LP doesn't match with the sample which starts with Killer Queen right after the Freddie welcome speech, right? === There's a clear cut after the speech and before KQ starts. In The Lap of the Gods, obviously, was the first song of the medley and is, obviously, missing. |

I was also under the impression that the bootleg Rhapsody in Blue is a bootleg of the Rainbow concert(s). But maybe I under the wrong impression here. I made a huge mistake, and this as a Queen fan since 1974. Queen did in fact not play Luxembourg in 1974. They played at the Le Blow Up on 14th October. But I did hear a Queen concert on Radio Luxembourg, and I am pretty sure that is wasn't a concert form their Queen II tour. But now so many years later I can't get my head around if I heard the concert in 1974 or even 1975. Regarding the Rhapsody in Blue bootleg, the tracklist isn't a typical tracklist for the 1974 erea, or is it.......... The following set-list does not represent the complete concert [listo] [li]Procession [li]Now I'm Here [li]Ogre Battle [li]Father To Son [li]White Queen (as it began) [li]Flick Of The Wrist [li]In The Lap Of The Gods [li]Killer Queen [li]The March Of The Black Queen [li]Bring Back That Leroy Brown [li]Son And Daughter [li]Keep Yourself Alive [li]Seven Seas Of Rhye [li]Stone Cold Crazy [/listo] Around the Queen II Tour this is how the set-list could look like......... The vinyl features : - Side A See what a fool Ogre battle Hangman Jailhouse rock Big Spender Modern times rnr Flick of the wrist Side B Now I;m Here White Queen Killer Queen March of the balck wqueen Bring back that leroy brown Keep yourself alive Father to son Liar In the lap of the gods revisited |
pittrek 28.11.2011 04:51 |
So now I'm REALLY confused - which concert is it ? |
Holly2003 28.11.2011 12:28 |
Re: coloured vinyl, I have no clue if the Queen bootleg is originally from the 1973/4 but I have an ELO coloured vinyl LP called On the Third Day from 1973 so coloured vinyl probably was around back then -- although I suppose it could be a later re-issue. |
The Real Wizard 28.11.2011 12:33 |
All of these bootlegs are from the 1990s. If Ghost's track listing is correct, then it's a false alarm. Definitely not The Hague. The editing of side B is a direct rip of the official Rainbow VHS. Side A looks like a compilation of various 73-75 stuff. Probably Golders Green, Hammersmith, or something of that ilk. |

Well I did got my information from a bootleg discography... it says that side B is rianbow , but side still has tobe sorted out. But the quality would be in Queenlive standards about C- I have to play one of those records to find out.... >> The book "Voor Queen en Vaderland" features this setlist : procession Now I'm Here Ogre Battle Father To Son (!) White Queen Flick of the Wrist In the lpa of the gods Killer queen The march of the black q... Bring back that LB Son & daughter Keep yourself alive Seven seas of rhye Stone ocld crazy Liar In the lap of the gods ...rev Big Spender Jailhouse rock God save the queen >> The setlist mentioned on the belgium website of the Rhapsody in blue vinyl wouldn;t fit on a single LP ... Most bootleg vinyls are post 1991 , the pre 1991 are the "classics" like kimono my placelive, invite you to a night at the budokan, save me , flash alive, zoom , live in kobe... there aren't that many bootlegs on vinyl from before fred his passing. Yo can easily recognise one of those because they have better artwork...and labels at most of the time... and they aren't availble in 10 different sleeves....The money bootleg machine started after Fred died... No need to worry, I already mailed the author of the book , where he's got the setlist from.... |
The Real Wizard 29.11.2011 11:06 |
Thanks for doing the detective work ! Hopefully we can get some answers. But the setlist is the standard setlist for the tour, even with Father To Son. |
