Queen London, UK Rainbow Theatre March 31, 1974 Soundboard Master (multi-track) > ? > reel-to-reel > WAV (GoldWave speed correction) > FLAC level 8 1) Procession 2) Father To Son 3) Ogre Battle 4) Keep Yourself Alive 5) Liar 6) interview This is a huge upgrade of the already-excellent Rainbow Theatre tracks. Many thanks to 'Ghostofasmile' for the initial share. I simply edited the non-Queen and official material out and corrected the speed. link Convert to lossy only for your own (ab)use. |
The Real Wizard 08.11.2011 13:02 |
Somebody please upload this to Dime. This is one of those rare Queen recordings that needs to be enjoyed beyond the Queen community. One may argue that this could be the single best Queen live recording there is. Not only is it one of the very best-sounding, but it is early, raw Queen. Whoever does it will have to make their own FLAC fingerprints. I have tried to do it, but I can't figure it out. |

Thanks a lot ! BTW, ffp files can be created e.g. via Traders Little Helper, which is free |

MERCI BEAUCOUP LIKE ALWAYS |
The Real Wizard 08.11.2011 14:38 |
If anyone downloaded from the initial link, please grab it again. I realized after the fact that the tape ran a bit slow, so I corrected the speed. |

The first us radio show tape was already awesome so i'm looking forward to this one. |
Marknow 08.11.2011 16:25 |
Very good, thanks. |
dave76 08.11.2011 16:39 |
And again an amazing sound. Pure enjoyment. Better than all the 40th anniversary products combine released this year lol. |

Wow, I think I can actually hear the sweat on John's fingers. Amazing share, thank you so much. |

Thank you very much ! I didn't alter the original because of my lack of knowledge from computers.I am scared to destroy the original music ....And even don;t know how to do this... Thanks for the edit ! Redownloading my own share...hahaha what about that ;-) |
pittrek 09.11.2011 07:54 |
If I will have the time and nobody will be faster I will create and share a merge of all available sources |

ghostwithasmile, thanks again for sharing. Do you have a transfer of the RATW show #22 that also features the Rainbow concert? I only ask as perhaps there are more songs on there. ..............and thanks also The Real Wizard for this edit. |

It is not common for a radio station to sell the reels... mostly they were retaped or stored in the archives... You could ask the radio station though... The only I thing I know : this was indeed the 7 track broadcast which later that year was bootlegged in vinyl like sheetkeeckers LP later 1975.... But this vinyl does NOT come from the reel tapes but from the radio airwaves... So whoever has the Reels.... should upload it here.... haha But again slim chanche these things left the station... |

Have to take a look at that , some radio shows which only features album tracks...And BBC sessions, but since John already shared these... Don;t expect any new show...upgrade perhaps... At least there more shows with rainbow and golden green... Havent touched these in very long time... let alone listned to them... |

Hey Real Wizzard , I already exceeded the 500 downloads... What's the number running on this side ? Wonder how long it will take when this one hits the japanese bootleg market...Hope they will use the speed corrected version... and don;t destroy the original sound... |
The Real Wizard 09.11.2011 11:36 |
pittrek wrote: If I will have the time and nobody will be faster I will create and share a merge of all available sources =============== OK, I suppose I'll let you have this one :p On a very positive note, I think the LP source is no longer needed, since the beginnings of Procession and Liar are here. |

It doesn't bother me if they do. At least we'll have the original. What sucks is when a label like Tarantura compresses and distorts the hell out of their recordings, and we can't access the original. |

This is from Martin his website : Comment: Great (but incomplete) show in almost excellent stereo quality. I also have the non-LP version (in MP3, length 37:06). >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Can you give anymore info about this one ? What is the story ? Was this the 22nd broadcast show ? Also reel 2 reel ? |
The Real Wizard 10.11.2011 09:57 |
It's a cassette from about 1980, which I got a few years back. It has been available to download here for years. Various links here - link It's a great upgrade of the LP version, but not quite as good as your copy. I highly doubt it's from radio. |

Sorry man, haven't checked back here til now. I sent a rough re-EQ of it to Bob but perhaps I should have sent to you and ghostwithasmile too. Could you PM me your email so I can transfer it then we can all decide if it's appropriate to do a proper restoration on it? |

Fatastic thread. just out of interest - what are the details of the other gigs listed on the sheet, especially Sweet and Cockney Rebel? |
The Real Wizard 15.11.2011 09:53 |
They just play studio tracks from the other bands. You can hear the raw transfer of the reel here: link |

Today it was 39 years ago when about 3,000 - 3,500 people witnessed what is arguably the best ever Queen show recorded in history ! I prefer this one , compared to the novemer shows. Queen were on fire, hungry for succes. Knowing the press and the bbc were watching! There is so much chemestry between the 4 bandmembers ! |
