Ghostwithasmile is BACK! 07.11.2011 15:15 |
Hi ,
I wanted to get to bed early and give my wife a little pook in the back...But I read Bob has his birthday today so I decided to make a share specially to commerate his birthday. Happy b'day Bob. Attached is a REEL 2 REEL transfer from a 1975 radio show from the USA. PLease notice that at this time Queen hadn;t any succes in the US.... So that makes this one special. And... this is from a orignial reel to reel tape, pictures you will find attached in the download. It features : QUEEN II tour concert recordings Special about NUTZ (supportact from Queen in the UK 1974) Interview with the band members (even after GSTQ) 2 big falc files (from each reeltape 1 flac track) Picture of the original post box and addressees... I have about 11 more of these reel to reel tapes... Even from 1973 and 1974 .... Reel to reel tapes contain better sound quality as the later vinyl radio shows presses like the ones from radio 1, and westwood 1....The rainbow nov. 74 comes from a tape like this as well...Well I hope you can enjoy this one. I wanted to make a other share.... but cannot find the time to put thing together...So be patient... http://www.multiupload.com/U7H86JYAEH |

Thank you for sharing, these are rather special. |
GinjaNinja 07.11.2011 17:13 |
To me the recordings sound like the March Rainbow show, but in far superior quality to any existing source. The quality of these tapes really is amazing! |
dave76 07.11.2011 17:43 |
Wow. What an awesome quality 36 years on. Enjoying the live bits right now. |
dave76 07.11.2011 17:48 |
without a doubt one of the best shares on Queenzone this year. I hope you will share the other tapes with us. Does anyone know the venues/dates from which these live bits are on this awesome tape? |
The Fairy King 07.11.2011 18:12 |
Awesome! Thx! |
MERQRY 07.11.2011 18:18 |
FANTASTIC! it seems to be rainbow 74 (march, queen II tour) in a 99.9 % Thank you! the quality is superb! What gear/machine do you use to make the tranferency from reel to wav??? |
tjleone 07.11.2011 19:19 |
AWESOME!!!!!!! Thank you very much!!!! |
Leonardo Venegas 07.11.2011 19:27 |

Damn right. I'll be happy to die at the age of 850 if we can get something like this once a month. This is fascinating. Indeed, it is the 1974.03.31 Rainbow Theatre show that has been bootlegged since 1975. But this is, by far, the best-sounding copy to date. It may be a slightly different mix, but either way it is far superior to the pre-LP version which, somehow, amazingly, sounds like a blanket is on top of the speakers in comparison now. Too bad it's only 4 of the 7 tracks, but it's an incredibly welcome addition to the collection. Thanks, Ghost ! |
Ghostwithasmile is BACK! 08.11.2011 01:39 |
Listening to this recording I have to say I really missed John thelast tours.... Take a close listnen to his great riffs on the 1 st flac track at 09.32 min. till 10.06 min... so great especially the part at 09.45 - 09.49 GREAT john! A superior bass player he was.... |
The Real Wizard 08.11.2011 01:40 |
Yup, agreed. But note that he also misses his cue at 10:17 :-) |

The Real Wizard wrote: Yup, agreed. But note that he also misses his cue at 10:17 :-) Well nobody is perfect I gues... Notice the BASF tape pictures.... "COPY" it's marked by X.... so this isn't even the master.... ? So the radio station has a master.... OR recordings made by the studio should be the master ? I don;t get it... Nice interview bits as well... Recorded during the US tour of 75 I think ? |
A Word In Your Ear 08.11.2011 02:17 |
Thankyou so very much for this!!!!!! |
The Real Wizard 08.11.2011 02:37 |
>Nice interview bits as well... Recorded during the US tour of 75 I think ? Nope, it must have been later, because they talk about the Japanese concerts. |

Thank you for this. I wonder how the US station got its hands on the March Rainbow gig? Maybe through Queen's management. Hmmmmmmm.... Cheers |

ghostwithasmile wrote: On yur website you write about a dropped US arena tour at this time...so they werein the US I gues? Or theinterviewer flew outt o the UK ? The radio host says "we talked to the band last week" ... ======================== At one point Brian says "in this country and in America," which could mean Canada, the UK or Europe. Roger states, "Your country, America" but that doesn't necessarily mean that's where the interview took place. It likely does, but anything is possible. They could even be pieces of multiple interviews. There's a member of some other band there during Freddie's spot. So who knows.. |

CruellaDeVille wrote: Thank you for this. I wonder how the US station got its hands on the March Rainbow gig? Maybe through Queen's management. Hmmmmmmm.... ====================== Perhaps Queen were considering releasing this as a live album at the time, and didn't think much of giving a few polished tracks to be broadcast on the radio. The 7-song version of the show is clearly formatted as an album... overdubs and all. So it may be that simple. |
pittrek 08.11.2011 12:59 |
Just listening to it - GREAT ! Sounds really powerful and clear, thanks a lot for this share ! |

SHOW #132 2/13/77 Queen An Exclusive Interview & MusicWhat about show #22, Perhaps more of Rainbow 74? Yes indeed, but the chanche that all the reel tapes left the radio station is impossible. Most of the tapes were re-used or stored for frther broadcasts... Mostly these tapes were repressed on vinyl like the westwood ones... it's a copy of the master reel so 1 gen higher , the quality of vinyl is inferior to reels... I think... |

Man, this is so generous of you. Many thanks indeed. If I can, in return, give you any tips or help on how to edit stuff without losing any quality, just let me know. I'd be more than happy to help. |
