Oh yeah, 105 minutes of extras! That's great. I hope they've put some great concert footages on there. |

While the early era documentary is VERY WELL received, I'm going to be disappointed if they haven't taken the opportunity to present us with the unadulterated newly found 'live' performances, rehearsal footage and the 'faked' (?) studio rehearsal footage that appears in the documentaries. To have those songs complete without interuption is a dream I hope to become reality. Gonna be disappointed aren't I? :(( |
| Crazy_Nights92 19.10.2011 18:12 |
great news! more bonus material of early years is awesome! |
| Kevinrm15 19.10.2011 20:20 |
Wonder what's in the untitles section...? Any guesses? |
| MERQRY 19.10.2011 21:56 |
They'll release it in 1080p (Blu-ray) right?? |
| Harry_queenrecordings 20.10.2011 00:35 |
A Blu-Ray version would be great. The more bonus stuff, the better it is ;-) |
| rhapsody8 20.10.2011 00:58 |
Can't wait to watch. The Beginning part should be very interesting. I also would like to see some new footage from 89-91 era... |
| dysan 20.10.2011 02:47 |
I imagine the 24 minute untitled bit is just the extended documentary - hopefully re-editted to fit the full performances from TOTP? Maybe expanding the bits the glossed over - mainly the late 80's. Hopefully NOT a whole section about Q+PR and the new Extravaganza or whatever it's called. But yes, and hour on the early days - WOAH. i'm thinking focussing in on those early interviews in full, nothing in the way of more unseen pictures / footage. and the return to imperial will be a heartbreaker - I found that whole section so lovely. |
| jsc2994 20.10.2011 03:23 |
Just checked the UMG release plan and days of our lives will be released on BLURAY and DVD on the 21st of November |

For obvious copy/rip reasons they didn't show the full TOTP performances on the BBC doc. Now I think there is a fair chance these end up at the forthcoming DVD |

Will they do the job right this time....???? Let we pray!! Or will it be just another Windows Paint Pro creation like Queen Rock Montreal & Live AID and some others. SO fingers crossed |

(UNTITLED) (QUEEN - DAYS OF OUR LIVES) Do you think that is hidden under such an unusual name? Any guesses |
| Back2TheLight 20.10.2011 20:54 |
So I'm debating on whether I should get the DVD when it comes out, or wait another...oh, 15 years when the remastered and re re released version comes out? Sorry, couldn't help it! |
| Bartosz 21.10.2011 11:31 |
I heard there is Mannheim show from '86 as bonus ;-D It's joke of course ;-D but it could be... |
| silver_salmon 21.10.2011 11:56 |
DVD Duration: 164 minutes Blu Ray Duration: 221 minutes :S Why don't you put 221 on DVD?....2 DVDS????...Fuck! link |
| Vali 21.10.2011 12:19 |
Holly shit !!!! the Blu-ray contents look spectacular !! |
| cmsdrums 21.10.2011 12:45 |
Great content by the looks of it - just hoping the extras aren't all just two mins each. The PAL vs NTSC brigade may have an issue though! I'm not sure in this day and age why they can't make the same content on both DVD and Blu ray by just adding an extra disc to the DVD version? Then again, Blu ray players are so dirt cheap so why would people not have one now?! |
| Queenman!! 21.10.2011 13:31 |

link ======================== Wasn't it a single Am-ray DVD and a Blu-Ray DVD? Looks great. The coverart isn't that bad. Though I had expected the big 40 years Anniversary Queen trademark logo on the front cover. Extra's are great!! |
| jamster1111 21.10.2011 13:45 |
Wow this is great and I'm for sure getting the blu ray! The Queen on Tour: 1974-1975 part of the bonus looks really interesting |
| Queenman!! 21.10.2011 13:52 |
Another interessting thing about the BLU-ray version is that by the content of this DVD, 'The making of Innuendo album', etc, we can conclude that a GREATEST VIDEO HITS III DVD is definitely out of the picture. And Yes..... NTSC again. Fu.. that US record label. |
| rocknrolllover 21.10.2011 14:24 |
Queen On Tour 1974-5 any guesses |
| e-man 21.10.2011 17:51 |
the blu ray looks sensational don't want to get into the pal vs ntsc debate, cause content wise, this release is nothing short of superb |
| brians wig 21.10.2011 20:50 |
Fucking Wankers! NTSC AGAIN!!!! Even the BBC have a policy that no PAL sourced video recording will EVER be released on Bluray in Europe in 60i. It's gonna look shit with everything 'dragging' again.... They can't fucking do anything right can they? |
| inu-liger 22.10.2011 01:17 |
Instead of bitching here, why don't you lot go bitch to the people that made the video? Here's a certain e-mail address for starters: brians.soapbox@clara.co.uk |

I think many people agree with me that it is if not the first but very worthy release, since signing contract with Universal Music. I hope, our dears don't stop on this, and we can wait one more worthy gift to the end of this year. I certainly understand that we have not seen the material which to be released soon, but I think need send letters to Simon Lupton and Rhys Thomas and say "THANKS TO YOU" ,because they did great work. Who will support me? |

Who will support me? Hmm... the dvd-extras are interesting but the Blue-Ray extras are areally somehting! The worst part is, that I don't own a Blue-Ray -player and couldn't really care less to buy one either. This is the first time that I see a product having so much difference in content if you would buy it in a different format. Damn, my only option is to buy the dvd and then wait until someone rips the bonus content from the Blu-Ray and the download that? ... |

inu-liger wrote: Instead of bitching here, why don't you lot go bitch to the people that made the video?
Here's a certain e-mail address for starters: brians.soapbox@clara.co.uk ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I did that when Wembley came out and Brian was sent a technical email about NTSC and watching said format on PAL TV sets and the problems it caused. I got back a fobbed off reply. They're clearly not interested :( |
| popy 22.10.2011 07:23 |
Since i have the BBC HD rips, i'm not going to spend any money to have just an extra 30min on DVD. I'll wait for the rips to appear online. They could easily have a double-DVD release with the same extras as the Blu-Ray. I pretty much think this is an Universal demand, since this is done also on movie releases. That's also why i buy less and less DVD movies. Does anyone really think if Queen was still on EMI this would happen? I doubt it would happen. Queen fans deserve to be treated the same way, either they have a Blu-Ray player, or a DVD player. Fans with a Blu-Ray player are not better fans than fans with a DVD player. Leave the DVD/Blu-Ray extras war out of Queen, Universal. |
| 4 x Vision 22.10.2011 07:23 |
who cares about pal v ntsc, this looks incredible. can't wait to buy blu ray disc, I've high hopes for this |
| rhapsody8 22.10.2011 08:01 |
It would be great if they release same Blu Ray content as a double disc DVD... |
| rocknrolllover 22.10.2011 08:16 |
Are you Decide finally, that important to you, filling, share pixels .format, cover, or what we get soon?We must rejoice in the fact that we have. At least we get, soon that something fundamentally new. We must pay tribute to the guys who remade this work, the piece collected material was restored and now will released. And it isn't so important or this PAL or NTSC, blu ray or DVD, they could thoughtlessly releasewhat we've seen on TV, but instead they added something fundamentally new. |

Enough of the DVD and Bluray fight.... Let's speculate on the additional promo videos! |
| rocknrolllover 22.10.2011 14:58 |
Every of the bonuses raises questions about their meaning for every titles. Which concerts will be included in this chapter titled "Queen On Tour 1974-5"? Any guesses "Leaving John Reid 1978" - Am I right that in this chapter will be set out by the true causes leaving of John Reid from band ? instead of write your groans and curses in the form of discussion on forum better let's talk of the content of the future release |
| rocknrolllover 23.10.2011 15:27 |
How do you think in chapter Queen on tour 1974-1975 which there is on blu ray version of documentary it's possible to see Rainbow 1974? |
| dysan 23.10.2011 16:27 |
It's very unlikely that whole songs will be included in the 'on tour' bits - I guess extended bits of stuff we already have. It's all welcome though. Would be fantastic to get this doc and the Magic Years edited together as one huge chunk. I still think that has a lot of worth and would benefit from a reissue. Not even to extend it, just 'as is' - a great document of how Queen saw themselves after the Magic Tour. |
| inu-liger 23.10.2011 17:11 |
I'm interested in seeing what the "B-Sides" bit is about, whether they're gonna talk about the actual non-album b-sides, or (more boringly) how they'd decide what ended up on a b-side |
| rocknrolllover 24.10.2011 00:26 |

| Dane 24.10.2011 02:46 |
The Live 1974/75 section will probably be Rainbow and Hammy.
Hamemrsmith has already been recently polished for the BBC (eventhough shot on video in stead of film) and knowing Rainbow was pro-shot and shown in theaters back in '74 leads me to believe they have HD'd this one as well. Good news is that these concerts have now undergone the HD treatment and can potentially be released as a seperate live bluray/dvd box. |
| Togg 24.10.2011 02:47 |
Looks to me like the best release yet, the bonus stuff for once is really good, can't wait |
| pittrek 24.10.2011 05:17 |
Funny but I have a feeling that the 1974 stuff will be Rainbow - 2 songs from the March concert and the 1975 stuff will be the full Japanese documentary about Queen in Japan (it was fully shown on the exhibition) |
| rocknrolllover 24.10.2011 05:21 |
pittrek wrote: Funny but I have a feeling that the 1974 stuff will be Rainbow - 2 songs from the March concert and the 1975 stuff will be the full Japanese documentary about Queen in Japan (it was fully shown on the exhibition) I'd like to Rainbow in version VHS because about complete Rainbow only dreams and Hammersmith odeon 1975 |
| Hangman_96 24.10.2011 05:54 |
Well, my thoughts about 'Queen on tour 1974-75' - perhaps they'll release such stuff as Rainbow 74, Tokyo 75 and Hammersmith Odeon 75. I don't think these concerts are gonna be complete, but they're gonna put some good bits, I hope! Maybe even previously unseen bits. |

If they are planning to bring Rainbow 1974 in, I truly hope they will undress that show from all the vocal overdubs and bullsh*t. Queen were on really good form on that tour and it will be fine without all the overdubs that were done to enhance the quality of that live recording, which was to be released as a movie... |

Freddie Legless: legless is phrase usually meaning "stinking drunk". So, likely it will be some footage of Freddie being absolutely pissed, hopefully being hilarious. |

What do you think is happening? Does somebody outside Queen Productions ordered something like "let's release something new" or finally Queen Productions changed his mind and they started to release something rare? is it just because of the fact that the 40th Anniversary and new fresh brains in QPL don't appeared? Any guesess! |

My initial opinion that it is only because 40th Anniversary and after this something new, we are unlikely to see. I know that I have to be an optimist and so on and hope for the best. I myself will happy if I will be wrong and my the worst assumptions will not coming true |

"Then go ahead in Queen Productions and show them how to do their job. Everyone can talk but do he can't " This doesn't make any sense. He's only complaining about the shitty trailer quality. It is actually very, very easy to upload a video to Youtube in quality higher than 240p. The number refers to the vertical height of the video in pixels. All you have to do is upload a video in a given resolution that has a vertical height of 240, 360, 480, 720, or 1080 (if one is feeling generous) and it should be viewable on Youtube at those resolutions. I'm sure no one has any issues with the work done on the documentary itself. It tops anything else so far. But it is a bit knuckleheaded to put a trailer up in 240p. That's 2006 quality, and kind of makes the thing look a bit amateurish. "The bigger the better, in everything". |

Well, it appears now that Japan is getting an extended version of this release. There is a 'special edition' 2 disc DVD, which I am assuming is the same as the worldwide Blu Ray release (as opposed to the 1 disc DVD available generally as previously announced), but also a 'Director's Cut' version which features approx 40 minutes of exta material (see QOL for details of what) exclusively for the Japanese market. Not sure if this Director's Cut is only on DVD, or on Blu Ray too - as usual the QOL press release is very sparce on any really useful info, but I have gleaned the above from HMV Japan and CD Japan, who both have pre-order links already. |
| cmsdrums 01.11.2011 05:48 |
The DVD for sale in the UK/RoW is a one disc affair, whereas the Japanese one comes as a two disc 'Special Edition' or three disc 'Director's Cut' - see here: link My assumption is that the second disc on the Japanese 2 disc DVD will have ONLY this 40 minutes of bonus footage but still EXCLUDE the extra additional material that is on the UK Blu Ray, but the 3 disc 'Directors Cut' will have both lots of extra stuff across two extra discs. I assume that the Japanese Blu Ray will have everything. It's possible that we could end up with the following; UK/RoW DVD - 1 disc UK/RoW Blu Ray - 1 disc with extra bonus footage Japan DVD - 2 discs; same as UK DVD but with extra disc just for the 40 mins (Budokan etc) (ie EXCLUDING the UK Blu Ray extras) Japan DVD - 3 discs; same as UK Blu Ray and also with extra disc of 40 mins (Budokan etc) Japan Blu Ray - 1 disc - same as UK Blu Ray/Japan 3 disc DVD version Until I see a full spec I won't be ordering the UK Blu Ray if the Japanese one has 40 mins more rare content. If the 3 disc Japan DVD has the extra content from the UK Blu Ray, it begs the question as to why the UK DVD can't have this too? Does any of that makes sense?!!? |
| brians wig 01.11.2011 16:19 |
One of the reasons why Japanese CDs have extra tracks that the rest of then world don't have is, I gather, an attempt to persuade the Japanese to buy their 'own' more expensive product, rather than order from abroad. I wonder if the same reason applies to this Queen release? Like it's been said though, it's still taking the piss somewhat. |

16th November 2011Press Release: Days Of Our Lives DVD/Blu-Ray Release THE DEFINITIVE DOCUMENTARY ON THE WORLD’S GREATEST ROCK BAND IS COMING TO DVD AND BLU-RAYReleased 28th November – Universal Music"This fantastic and moving two-parter tells the story of the finest live band in the history of rock. There's archive footage of past performances, interviews with the members and, best of all, plenty of insider anecdotes; the choicest being Elton John's reaction to Bohemian Rhapsody: "Are you off your head? You'll never get that played." The Guardian. In 1971, four college students got together to form a rock band.Since then, that certain band called Queen have released 26 albums and sold over 300 million records worldwide. The popularity of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon is stronger than ever 40 years on. This past weekend in front of an estimated TV audience of 1.2 billion they were honoured with the Global Icon Award at the 2011 MTV EMA.But for Queen the journey was no bed of roses. No pleasure cruise. Queen had their share of kicks in the face, but they came through - and this is how they did it. Set against a backdrop of brilliant music and stunning live performances from every corner of the globe, Queen: ‘Days of Our Lives’ - available in both Blu-Ray and standard DVD formats, released 28th November through Universal Music, brings Queen’s 40th Anniversary year to a close in suitably regal style.‘Days Of Our Lives’ began as a two-part documentary produced by long-term Queen collaborators and life long fans Rhys Thomas (the comedian who famously broke the Mastermind all time record points score with a specialist subject of Queen) and Simon Lupton, and directed by the renowned director Matt Casey. After 10 years of making Queen DVDs, Lupton and Thomas were asked by the band to produce the definitive 40th Anniversary documentary and after almost a year of painstaking research and editing, this was the result. Split over two episodes, Part One covering 1970-80, Part Two 1980 – present day, the documentary is a genuine rollercoaster of rock and roll history. In this film, for the first time, it is the band that tells their story. Featuring brand new interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor and unseen archive footage - including their recently unearthed first ever TV performance - it is a compelling story told with intelligence, wit, plenty of humour and painful honesty.Rhys Thomas comments, “We set out to make the definitive Queen documentary. It's a funny, honest, inspiring and ultimately tragic account of ‘a certain band called Queen’, as told by the band themselves. We tell the story of four students who met in West London, slogged hard and conquered the world, ultimately changing rock music forever.”When originally broadcast in the UK on BBC 2 across two nights in May of this year, ‘Queen: Days of Our Lives’ was the highest rated TV show on in its slot, beating every other channel and peaking with 3 million viewers. It has been widely regarded as one of the finest rock documentaries made and the critical reaction was outstanding. “Funny that,” says Thomas, “considering Queen were always denounced by the press!”Say Queen’s Brian May: “The Boys did a fantastic Job on this documentary ... with little interference from us ! I think this one will set the bench mark for years to come.”Thomas explains the transfer of the original BBC documentary to DVD release: “When originally making the series it wasn’t easy condensing 40 years of Queen down to just two hours. In fact, there was so much more to be said and so much more to be seen. Thanks to Blu-Ray and DVD, so much more of that story can now be told". “As the two documentaries worked so well, we resisted the idea of making an epic 3-hour ‘Extended Cut’. They are always boring, and as Freddie said to his manager Jim Beach in his last days: “Do anything you want with my music dear, but never make me boring!“So rather than simply dump a load of ‘deleted scenes’ onto the DVD and Blu-Ray, Simon and I decided to edit them all with as much love, time and care as we put into the main documentary. What we have as a result is a great companion to the main story and some real gems, most notably covering the formation of the band and the making of the last three albums which was only touched upon in the televised version. For instance, we learn from Brian how John Deacon made a cut in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ for the record company and Freddie’s reaction; the revelation that Freddie was not sober during the making of ‘Spread Your Wings’/’We Will Rock You’ in Roger’s back garden, and a hilarious sequence about Queen and their love of Scrabble.“As well as the new sequences, there are 7 new videos. Excerpts were featured in the main documentary, but we have completed them, and here on DVD and Blu- Ray they appear in full.”The Blu-Ray format allows for additional bonus material and therefore differs in content to the Standard DVD release. Please check credits for each release. ‘Queen: Days of our Lives’ Blu-Ray & Standard DVD content descriptions:Documentary Part 1 – 59 minsDocumentary Part 2 – 59 mins.ADDITIONAL VIDEOS – Blu-Ray and Standard DVD (24 mins):Seven Seas Of Rhye 2011: A compilation of all four Top Of The Pops and Rainbow Live performances from 1974 – all unseenKiller Queen 2011: A compilation of two Top of The Pops performances, one the familiar 1974 Christmas Special, the other - discovered in the late British comedian Dick Emery’s private collection, hasn’t been seen since 1974, the original master tape wiped from the BBC archives.Somebody To Love 2011: This is a new edit of the video using the four takes shot on the day, most of which has never before been seen. why does no one yet explained why the dvd less bonuses than Blue Ray? After all, they could do two disc edition of this documentary |
| cmsdrums 20.11.2011 16:03 |
If you buy the Japanese two disc DVD version I think it has all the same content as the Blu ray, PLUS the additional 40 mins or so. Therefore the Blu Ray has LESS content than that edition of the DVD |

That sounds like a good definitive answer then. I guess we'll wait to hear for sure until all the versions are released. |

does anyone able to download the Blue Ray version of the documentary Days of Our Lives on any file sharing and give me a link to download |

The thing I find annoying about all documentaries, including DOOL, is there is virtually no discussion of musicality decisions or developments. For instance there is some great footage of Brian adding one guitar part in WATC, why not have a little chat about the music theory going on there? Or have him tell us when he first knew he could widdle away up and down the fretboard with the best of them? I want more music discussion, no just band career milestones! |

So we have one guy in the UK with the Japanese DVD. He should put us all out of our misery and upload the extras to youtube. If QP play these games they should expect some backlash. |

The picture is ok but the sound on the concert stuff is not that great but it is great to see the Lap Of The Gods finale - that's a lot of smoke! The 1982 concert seems the same quality as the songs that were included as a bonus on the Milton Keynes DVD. The crowd at the Seibu Lions Stadium sing LOML very well. The Freddie Mercury Official 65th Birthday Video is a nice compilation of clips that we've all seen before but is still a nice way to end the DVD - as other people have said you can get it easily from cdjapan.co.jp.Hang On In There wrote: I finally got a copy of the Japanese edition (no thanks to you, UK Customs) - it's lovely! definitely the one to getwould you mind posting a quick "review" of the additional 40 min? how is the picture / sound on the live stuff? better than what's available?
