I was very lucky to receive for my birthday today two Japanese CD's entitled 'Queen In The Mirror' which is the complete BBC sessions and Queen In The Mirror Again' which is the Golders Green Hippodrome and the 74 Hammersmith gig. I thought they were bootlegs but they say EMI under license from Queen Productions. They look official and come in miniature vinyl sleeves. I can't find much info about them online. Anybody know anything about them? There's a few on eBay. |

They're bootlegs. Very nice ones too. |
Back2TheLight 12.09.2011 05:33 |
How's the sound quality on the Hammersmith gig? Though I don't think it's from 1974, but I could be wrong... |

Looks good think i will get it. link |

Nicely presented bootlegs. Not sure about audio quality (there's bound to have been a better Pitrek share here) or that the BBC sessions are complete - but nicely presented all the same. I contemplated buying them until JSS shared all the Beeb stuff here. |

Apologies folks, disc 2 is Golders Green and the Rainbow March 31st 1974. The quality of disc 2 is really good although Freddie's voice is somewhat distant on the Golders Green gig. Disc one isn't quite as good quality but it's nice to have it all on one disc with the packaging. The CD's come in the miniature vinyl cover with a picture insert and a lyric sheet with song information. |

yeah i got those too about 7 months ago. very nicely done bootlegs! there's also Gettin' Smile mini vinyl replica from the same "bootlegger".. and also freddie's mr. bad guy.. |
dysan 12.09.2011 09:42 |
May aswell say it here - it's odd that those 3 '73 BBC session tracks didn't get added to Made In Heaven as they were used as b-sides, like Rio Blues. |

The Mr. Bad Guy Pressing is beautful :) I have the original Japanese LP and CD anyway, but for £11 or whatever it was, it was really nice and fits in with the real mini-LPs beautifully. Will need to get that Smile one, cos the sound quality of their stuff on "In Nuce" and "Pre-ordained" is shocking. |
dysan 12.09.2011 10:40 |
I don't even know where Pre-Ordained would've got those songs from for them to be so bad! That said, I searched out the Straker albums after hearing those tracks on there because I liked them so much. |

I don't know if they are "really bootlegs" or o choise to make believe this. the only think that give me a doubt is the sectrum analysis that reveal a lossy source format in all the track (except from 1 to 4). This about IN THE MIRROR. |
Lplix 13.09.2011 03:16 |
...mmmh, sorry, i mean SPECTRUM analysis........ |

I was AFRAID that they simply bootlegged my shares so thanks for the confirmation. They are indeed bootlegs, which means NOT official, from what I have seen I think they come from Russia. And there is no such thing as a "Pittrek license" :-) |

And there is no such thing as a "Pittrek license" :-) You're wellcome, Pittrek it was so strange to me there are not lots of people posting here about these bootlegs.....the "In the mirror again" Hippodrome is your 2009 remaster, and the Rainbow your last I know I don't still listen "In the mirror", but I guess probably the same . One doubt, in Queenlive talk about it as it appears a straight copies of the Godfather and Wardour bootlegs, but your hippodrome remaster is 2009......they also say it's a 2001 edition (I think it's simply a mistake). Another one...you said it is a russian bootleg..even if has the appearance of made in Japan?..I suspect they have no fear whatsoever of legal reprisals. I'm sorry to see you involvedin thes problems, I think the quality of your work is very tempting for the real pirates. It's a shame people want to take advantage o others' work economically. Many thanks abd excuse my english, greetings from BCN |

Ouch !! I was out from Queenzone for a while it seems. But this really pisses me off. Here is what I think about it. 1/ These are clearly bootlegs. 2/ If it says EMI under liense from Queen Productions, I would say I doubt they come from Japan. I don't think Japanese bootlegs usually use the EMI name. They have their own way of editing bootlegs, and I can't remember having seen the EMI logo on them, even on the most unusual labels. I doubt it comes from Japan. I'd give my bet on Russia too. I guess they take a lot of risk using the EMI name, and if they assume that and don't give a fuck about it, then I think they come from a country where they feel more "protected" by the law (or absence of law, I don't know). Russia could be that country I guess. 3/ Anyway, you should clearly stay away from these bootlegs, usually publish one or two bootlegs (sometimes interesting as this one) before disappearing all the same (taking the money before leaving of course). When it's hard to consider that a bootleg label can be "serious", there are far more interesting products with other labels, such as Tarantura at the moment, or Wardour and Uxbridge some months / years ago. Though it was just about copying and pasting things from collectors (some from here, some generous tapers etc...), adding their own touch (sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad), they were not again bringing something new to the fans, or bringing some upgrade on the sound etc... Here it is just a copy & paste operation on something onur fellow Pittrek worked on. Avoid at all costs, don't pay money for that. Send your money to Pittrek instead. No, don't read that last sentence. Turn your back to that and take a closer look at Pittrek's work. You'll know who deserves a "thank you". Kind Regards, Olivier, Belgium. |

These are the exact same tracks I freely donated to Queenzone for fans to share, and Pitrek remastered. This is exactly why I (and others) do not donate to the community anymore, and why collectors tend to become "hoarders", because with all the goodwill in the world, some scumbag will eventually rip-off these free-downloads and finacially exploit genuine (but gullible) fans for their own ends. Once bitten, twice shy, as it were. |
The Real Wizard 21.11.2011 11:36 |
This is a Russian bootleg designed to look like a Japanese official release. The material is exactly what is available here for free. |

I think you actually enjoy a lot of people given us all that beauty in the form of music. Thanks and excuse if I'm not able to explain. |

Yawara: Sorry; but you misunderstand. This is neither new or a surprise. This has gone on for years, and is merely the latest episode in a long-running saga of "rip-offs", so it no longer "bothers" me - it's just par for the course. But it is important for Queenzone readers to fully understand why collectors no longer share their collections, or why collectors are quite happy to be labled as "hoarders" - because at the end of the day, these bottom-feeding parasites have ruined it for everyone else. I am not complaining - or carrot dangling, but simply relaying the way that it is. As long as such people exist (in any walk of life), there will always be a mistrust of uploading the really rare and valuable, because once those tracks are "out there", they can actually work against you! |

Sorry, but sometimes with a passion to listen something we like, we forget to put ourselves in the place of another, in this case in your place.
