It was quite short but really left me wantting to see more. Between this and the video we saw of Queen rehearsing WATC, make me think a lot more video exists from these recording sessions. Check out the happy birthday video on Brians website
makes sense that Bob Harris was behind the cam... and seems like the recording session for the BBC, not the sessions for the NOTW (for me)
Excuse me for my lousy english
Both Champions and Blues are staged videos, NOT videos of the actual recording sessions. Same for Somebody to Love, of course, and even a lot of what's shown on the 'Making of One Vision' did not actually end up on the record, only the bit of Roger hitting the snare on the break: everything else is either a rehearsal or just posing for the cameras.
Thanks for shattering the dream! Seriously, I wouldn't even mind looking at Fredddie pretending to record It's Late. Your info was much appreciated, thanks.
Are we sure about Champions being staged, I can believe the part when they were playing together as being staged, but the part in the control room and the part where they are gathered round the mic singing seems possible as genuine recording footage?

I'm agree with you, buddy! I'd like to see complete hyde park outtakes, video from recording A Night At the Opera, Sheer Heart Attack, A Day At The Races, Queen II and so on....
Maybe I missed something, but I would like to know who was shooting the process of recording the song "We are the champions", Bohemian Rhapsody, March of the black Queen?
>>> Are we sure about Champions being staged
Yes, I am. It's crystal clear.
>>> but the part in the control room
Staged, completely... they were doing a documentary on the band (similar to what ended up being Magic Years nine years later) and footage of them recreating a recording session was useful.

If that'd been the actual recording, WATC would've ended up as an instrumental track, as Freddie and Maylor are singing into the wrong side of the Neumann. In fact, if you listen to the WATC stems and isolate the vocals, you'll realise that the vocals during the chorus are just Freddie + Freddie + Freddie, and Brian and Roger aren't present on those (unlike, say, Somebody to Love, or Now I'm Here).
That studio footage is staged, just like Pink Floyd 'recording' Dark Side (Pompeii DVD IIRC). In fact, a large portion of One Vision is not an actual recording session (except Roger's bit that Freddie conducted - that DID end up on the final cut), it's mostly rehearsals or posing for the cameras.

Nobody, as those recording sessions weren't filmed.
Arrh didn't spot the mic was the wrong way round....blahhh
Shame I was hoping at least the vocals were at least shot at the same time as recording it, if not the actual take, I realised the 'band' shot was staged but again assumed it was at least during the recording process. Would be wonderful to see the full documentary, do we know what happened to it?
It was postponed, then cancelled, and years later they did Magic Years which sort of replaced it and took some scenes from it. A shame really. Maybe Brian and Roger could spend more time rescuing those things and less thinking about showing up on reality programmes.
Well, no, not false. It IS a recording, but not an audio recording and not part of what ended up on an album. Paraphrasing Community, a 'Fake ID' is not fake; it's a *real* one from somebody else than the person using it.
Actually, it's not a big surprise coming from QPL... for the ANATO DVD commentary, they put some stuff Fred'd said about Black Queen and Lap of the Gods and took it out of context so it'd seem that he was talking about Bo Rhap.
And ... ever seen the wankers that work for them?
