Ok my dvd arrived today and i have just finished watching it I know that the friday concert was test filmed and what they have managed to put together out of that is pretty good, though there is some dodgy camera shots ie out of focus and shaking in places, some very close up of Roger, the cameraman couldnt of got much closer, even more than the saturday show Freddies voice does appear to be quite raw in places but overall i am impressed and i enjoyed it |
plumrach 07.09.2011 13:34 |
Funniest moment was Freddie declaring during Hello Mary Lou that he did not know the next bit "fuck it" he says before Brian takes over (the same bit he did on the next night) |

Excellent version of Who wants to live forever. The guitar solo is a bit odd though. |

jamster 1111 wrote: thanks! love it! so much fucking better than the second night! Indeed my friend... I just had to see it with my own eyes, all these things the other guys were writing about their performance that night... and they were right !! QP should change the name of the box set coming in november simply to: Queen on Fire ! Live at Wembley Stadium 1986!! |

BoRhap is amazing, especially Freddie singing at the piano first part of the song and the closure of the song. Freddie looks very proud at the end of it. And surprises everybody at the end doing a couple push ups. lol. How does this BoRhap rate in this one GregSynth? Curious to know what you thought of this one. |
Gregsynth 08.09.2011 19:36 |
I rank the first night's Bo Rhap pretty high on the Magic Tour versions! It's better than the next night overall (where Freddie sounds like he's struggling to hit notes), and I love watching Freddie SPIT when he hits the first verse Bb4s! |
Snackpot 08.09.2011 20:16 |
First night was far superior. You really question the logic of having the 'day after' concert as the main feature. Why not do as happened in Montreal and film completely two nights with the option of picking and choosing better performances? How great a state did they imagine Freddie's voice to be in less than 24 hours after performing at Wembley stadium anyway? I much prefer the camera work too. It may have been more static but ten times better than the Saturday show that couldn't hold a shot for three seconds. This totally killed the hand-clap visual effect of Radio GaGa for me. |
99jaystang 08.09.2011 22:16 |
I liked the camera shots around Roger, and sound of his Yamaha kit sounded better. the toms have more thump to them than Sat. |
queen79luca 09.09.2011 01:44 |
Me too i like the cameras shot about Rog , but just in the first songs! After 4 some reason they go behind him.....much better the first songs! |
plumrach 09.09.2011 02:41 |
I watched the whole thing again last night and i am still very impressed with it. I like everything even some of the dodgy camera shots but its a great concert imho |
Queenman!! 09.09.2011 05:39 |
I think we must all be happy they captured the fridaynight too. For some reason it seems logical to me if they had filmed it with the same amount of cameras as saturday. At the end they could choose between two concerts and made a compilation like Rock in Rio. |
NEOLOGiX 10.09.2011 00:09 |
The full Friday night concert all in one full-length video can also be seen here - link |
Snackpot 10.09.2011 14:34 |
The band seem to be more relaxed for the Friday show too. Freddie certainly looks as if he's having more fun |

When I first heard the audience recording of Friday concert, I said it was better than the Saturday one, and now I see how many people do agree with it. But years ago, they wouldn't be agreed. Does only video footage change people's opinions? |

But years ago, they wouldn't be agreed. Does only video footage change people's opinions? I think it's a combination of things Lostman. - The DVD has a new soundboard audio mix - Some people relate more on visuals as on audio - A DVD creates more a feeling that you were actually there on the concerts. So many of us needs to be convinced with a total product. |
Rick 11.09.2011 03:37 |
The Friday concert sounds much fuller. John is more prominent in the mix, the drums sound more powerful. What the hell was Brian doing right before the first chorus of I Want To Break Free? Clearly not his best night! |
Darko 11.09.2011 07:46 |
I was very surprised to hear how well Freddie's voice was sounding on the first night at Wembley stadium. I rate the first night at Wembley very high, it is certainly one of the best gigs of the magic tour. I think it is in the same league as Knebworth. On the first night at Wembley stadium his voice was in such great shape, just like the Knebworth concert. Now we must wait for QP to release Queen's possibly best concert ever on DVD, Hammersmith 1979 (fantastic bit of singing from Freddie). |

Rick wrote: The Friday concert sounds much fuller. John is more prominent in the mix, the drums sound more powerful. What the hell was Brian doing right before the first chorus of I Want To Break Free? Clearly not his best night! Indeed. It seemed that he was somehow over-nervous or something like that. Lots of very nervous playing and forgetting parts and the BR Solo was absolutely horrible. I don't know if the solo from second night is reworked from studio (anybody knows?) like many of Freddies Vocal parts, but the 2nd night he did a brilliant solo. I know for sure, that at least one bit of his guitar was overdubbed on 2nd night, as he does some cocking up on One Vision (first verse). You can hear this from the live radio broadcast on wembley, alongside all the other things that differ from the official release. So there was overdubbing going on... But back to the first night. I think all the band was "on the edge" more or less for this show. Freddie did really wonderful things with his voice and also ad-libbed a lot of his vocal melodies...even to the point, that he sometimes seem to over-do it... Roger didn't play as steady as on the 2nd night and Brian was doing a lots of mistakes. But all in all, the energy was huge for this show. |

ploughman wrote: I don't know if the solo from second night is reworked from studio (anybody knows?) ================= It was all live, as confirmed by the audience recording. Perhaps he was disappointed with himself after the first night and worked this one out during the day on the 12th to some degree. Either way, it is quite amazing how he can go from blundering on the first night to sheer brilliance on the second. Those 9 minutes are pure magic, particularly the last couple minutes. As for the first night as a whole, I think a lot of us are inclined to over-rate the first night due to our over-exposure to the second night over the last 20+ years. No doubt, Freddie's voice was in better shape on the first night, but this show has its flaws. I think it's fair to say that they're both great shows with their pluses and minuses. Gotta love the bass slides in the guitar solo of Who Wants To Live Forever. Classic Deacon style. |

I think we have all watched the Staurday show so many times that when this new show arrives it seems much better. Personally I felt the show was a bit rough in places but really wonderful to see them performing knowing it was not going to be shown...it feels free and relaxed in many ways, however it doesnt feel as polished as Saturday. I liked the shots of roger from behind the kit purely because as a drummer it shows in a little more detail what he is doing with the bass drum, but I can see why they didnt bother for the main event. The sound of the drums is pretty good considering they are Yammys...always hated them and lety out a loud groan in the stadium when I saw them!, having said that in the actual gig they sounded pretty good live. still missed the Luddys tho. I love Freds little outbursts during teh show and it was amazing to watch Brian struggle in the rain with the ovation guitar Overall very pleased with the dvd, dont know why some are moaning about the format...go buy a decent tele mate... |

Every Queen concert has flaws. That's why it's live! As for the first Wembley, yet it may have some flaws but overall, it was a hell lot better than the second concert! During most of the second concert Freddie sounds pretty damn rough (though he's sounded worse before). At least at the second concert he actually sounds better. The only flaws I could think of from the Friday night are Roger hitting the drums to late at the beginning of tie your mother down (right when brian starts the riff), his guitar solo on WWTLF, freddie still sounds rough on a few songs, and that's about it! Overall, I even have to say the atmosphere was better at the second concert as the rain really made it a special concert. After watching the complete concert, I'd list it as one of their best gigs of all time. |

The only flaws I could think of from the Friday night are Roger hitting the drums to late at the beginning of tie your mother down (right when brian starts the riff). I think what happens there is that Roger is still finishing One Vision and Brian actually comes in too early with the riff to Tie Your Mother Down - there's great bit just before that when Brian gives Freddie a slightly nervous look as he goes down to front of the stage! |
