Coming soon: Earl's Court (first night) audience recording
| inu-liger 04.09.2011 12:26 |
I guess some people didn't catch on to the news elsewhere, so I'll make a dedicated topic here :-)
We announced on our #PM-Radio podcast last night, as summed up nicely by Kef:
Kef wrote: What was announced on the show will rattle the collectors and the other QZ users who may have heard the announcement, I'm quite sure of that. it was a rather major announcement indeed. ... Alright, here's what I jotted down from the announcement: 1. It regards Earl's Court. (AKA one of the Queen shows which has been the tangent of a certain troll in the past couple months...) 2. A 'mutual friend' of Gregsynth was given an authentic audience tape of the June 6th 1977 show about two weeks ago. Prior to then, the only known source was the audio of the dry soundboard from the video. It is a legit audience tape(the podcast mentioned high-generation copies of Seattle '77 being falsely claimed/labelled as audience tapes for Earl's Court), and is of decent quality. As evidence that this recording's the real deal, the taped intro for Procession, Tie Your Mother Down, and Death On Two Legs were played from the audience tape on the podcast. 3. Aforementioned mutual friend asked Gregsynth to restore/pitch-correct the tape. Inuliger will then have the recording professionally remastered. 4. According to the podcast, it'll be shared by mid to late November, no later than November 24th 2011(the 20th anniversary of Freddie's death). If you want to hear "Procession (Intro)/Tie Your Mother Down", "Death On Two Legs" and (somewhere close to the end of the show) "'39" from this E.C. audience recording until the November release happens otherwise, you can catch it somewhere on the reruns for last night's show which run until Tuesday evening: http://radio.ppnstudio.com:8202/pmradio.aac (Copy-paste this into your audio player's appropriate stream URL input. This show will NOT be downloadable, it can only be streamed. Enjoy the show, though be warned the whole show lasts 5h 12m :-) ) |

Hands up if you thought this was a performance of Coming Soon at Earls Court? \o/ |
| e-man 04.09.2011 15:16 |
is the podcast available to download? |

I can't cach the Queen gig... i only hear voices |
| Gregsynth 04.09.2011 19:25 |
PM radio is really fun: Being silly with people for 5 hours, playing music, talking about stuff that doesn't make sense, etc! |
| lazydeath 05.09.2011 02:23 |
The fact that there is such a record I heard from the man with the nickname DJGreg. |
| inu-liger 05.09.2011 02:43 |
I can say this much, the tape did NOT come from DJGreg, whether or not he had knowledge of it otherwise! It comes from someone I'd say is closer to Queen than Mr. DJGreg! |

Doesn't mean he necessarily has it, you tool |

There are people who want to hide from me this recording of the concert. They behave like little children |
| inu-liger 05.09.2011 04:57 |
They WOULD like to, since you ARE a dickhead, but in reality it's impossible without cutting out the rest of the more honourable real Queen fandom ;-P So please, fuck off and come back in November. The recording will be out then, there is nothing more for you to bitch about you stupid little boy. |
| GinjaNinja 05.09.2011 05:24 |
Excellent news! I guess this would also mean that (if they so desired) QPL could do a matrix of the audience recording with a mix from the multitracks to gain the vocals that weren't recorded (from the piano mic I think) :) |

Cmon Richard no need to get mean here.. especially since you weren't even the one who found this recording. All these other fans are as equally important so why should you be allowed to shut them up and be rude? |

PM radio stuff isn't downloadable (it only runs through a stream--which has expired). If you are interested, there are two downloadable files as a "preview" for the audience recording: link (Somebody To Love) link (Bohemian Rhapsody) This is all I can offer at the present moment (I don't have access to the rest-yet), plus the recording is going to get remastered and released in November. Once again, I apologize for the inconvience. -Gregsynth |

| Gregsynth 06.09.2011 23:47 |
Well, I won't be doing the remaster (I can't remaster to save my life). A friend of a friend is taking the recording to his own professional studio, and he's going to get the recording in the best quality that he can. I've heard samples of his work, and I was impressed! My source for the original recording (he sent it to me), wants the recording to be in the absolute best sound quality that we can get. I already fixed the speed/pitch on the available samples (Somebody To Love and Bo Rhap), the remaster is going to sound much better than the sample. |

I'm looking at Mediafire, Megaupload and torrents (as well as the Hub) as the main channels of distribution to start off with. And please minimize your comments dude. Multiple posts in a row constitute spam. |

If put aside all the negative aspects associated with greed QPL, what do you think which of the days of performances at Earls Court in 1977 they would be released? |

There's no way they can release this without overdubbing in lines from other '77 era shows - which as we know would spark fury in the Queen puredom...I mean fandom. And who knows how many multi-tracks they have from those late 70's concerts that are usable in that context! So it's a double edged sword :-( |
| Bad Seed 17.10.2011 04:33 |
I don't think the mic problems would prevent this being released at all, it would be an easy thing to fix. However I do think it could be a good excuse for QPL not to release it. |
