Hi !
Sorry for the blank post above.
I'd like to ask if there is "more" to these demos/early version as presented on 11' Ep's ("deluxe") comparing to the archives.
For example, on the It's a beautiful day (original spontaneous idea) near the end of the track Freddie says: "go on the [...] yes..." and CUT. This draw my attention. The treatment as if the tape has been cut.
By this QP is trying to tell us "there's nothing more" ? The ending of It's a beautiful day - raw track - clearly suggests that there was another try/take.
It would be tremendous if JSS or GB or GT could let us in on the matter.
like i said on another thread recently... if they're doing at least TEN takes of "Feelings, Feelings" and it JUST saw the light of day... i'm convinced they have (as GB has confirmed) a vast studio recording archive. It took them 40 years to realize the kick drum was left out of the mix of one of their album tracks. So, imagine (again, as GB has confirmed) the wealth of material that they began, weren't pleased with, and tossed off half-finished...
i've noticed that many of the bonus tracks on these reissues have been Brian and Roger guide-vocal demo kind of things... but we KNOW there is, for instance, a fully produced version of Rock It (Prime Jive) with Freddie's vocals throughout, and I've read that Mack said it was SUPERIOR to Roger's take, but since it was his song, and to offer some variation on the album, they went with it.
Look at the BoRhap multitracks... at least 3 other alternate vocal takes of various parts that survived to the end of the sessions...
i believe there's more there than we can imagine...
and yes - i would also love to know what else is on the tape that contained Freddie's spontaneous "It's A Beautiful Day" idea...
Greg Brooks / Gary Taylor - it seems to be a studio quality recording (as opposed to a soundcheck or something)... what else happened at that particular session??
What else is left in the vaults? All the official stuff, such as extended versions of The Works, an extended version of One Year of Love, to name a couple. These so calles bonus cd's has nothing thrilling to offer, okay a few things. But to mark the fact that it is 40 years of Queen, why not opted for fully flegged bonus cd's? So with all the extended versions, extended mixes. Hot Space is a shamble without the extended versions. What else is left in the vault, what is gonna to happen with all the rare stuff GB played over the years during the conventions? Was that a simple tease, in the line hear what I've got and you never will? Me as a long term follower of the band, and a serious collector finds this a complete miss. No boxsets, no lavish treatments, just another milkcow..............
Cheers, Tom
