Will you agree? Musically, Lyrically, the tempo. It's just an amazing tune. I could say it's Brian's best performance overall in a song. This song just gives you chills. And just listen to this (MULTITRACK): link You realize how great Freddie was, the keeps amazing me with his wide reperory of vocals. From high to down tone, clean voice and angered voice. Incredible! |

This vocal mix is impressive. Having said that, while I like IWIA and I don't think it's a classic. A good song from an inconsistent and overall quite disappointing album. |

That I disagree. The Miracle is a great, hard-rock, versatile and fun album. It's really underated. Queen went back to being Queen for me in that album. While I think AKOM is a good album, The Miracle beats it in almost every way, especially music. Plus I think it transmit fun and joy, it's a not a bleak algum IMHO. |
The Real Wizard 20.08.2011 13:01 |
It's a great track, and maybe in the top 10 of the 80s. If I had to pick the best 80s track, it'd be either It's A Hard Life or The Miracle. The Miracle was certainly back to basics for Queen - all the trademark sounds and experimentation are there, balanced with a great pop sensibility. I will never get why Queen fans don't like Party and Kashoggi's ship, as they are pure classic Queen in every way. The Miracle remains my favourite 80s Queen album. |
Sebastian 20.08.2011 16:07 |
Drum machines are not classic Queen in any way. As for best 80's Queen song, IMO, it's Who Wants to Live Forever. |
GinjaNinja 20.08.2011 16:37 |
Not too keen on The Miracle (both the album and the track). Best tracks of the 80s are IMO It's A Hard Life, Sail Away Sweet Sister and Save Me. |
Sebastian 20.08.2011 17:02 |
Sail Away Sweet Sister and Save Me are from 1979. |
GinjaNinja 20.08.2011 18:36 |
Damn. They were released in the 80s! :D |
Sebastian 20.08.2011 19:09 |
Yes, but IMO it doesn't quite count. Is Mad the Swine a 90's song? Is Feelings, Feeling a 2011 song? |
The Real Wizard 20.08.2011 19:11 |
Obviously not, but the two tracks in question were recorded a few months before the 80s, not decades prior. Unless you saw Queen in late 1979 (many of which were little club shows), these tracks were first heard by the world in 1980. Silly comparison, man. |
Sebastian 20.08.2011 22:18 |
If they were finished on 31st December 1979, at 23.59 (local time of the place they were recording it), they're still from the 70's. |

I Want It All has a special place with me because it is the song that got me into the band when I first heard it on the radio when I was 9. Didn't play it much here in the USA if I remember correctly, but once was all it took. That being said, I've never picked a favorite song by the band, or thought it was the best. And also, everyone has their own opinion of what their 'best song' from the 80's was. There's no right or wrong answer on this one. But it is a great song and one of my top 5 overall Queen songs actually! |
dsmeer 21.08.2011 05:03 |
IMO It's A Hard Life |
Rick 21.08.2011 05:51 |
I love Party and Khashoggi's Ship as well. A great way to open an album. These two songs are typically Queen. I usually skip all the songs that were singles, because I heard them too many times :-) The new remaster will hopefully change this. |

Was It All Worth It. |
k-m 21.08.2011 15:17 |
I Want It All is a good song, but not the best. The problem I have with it is that it was given this 'first single' polish. Would prefer if the sound was a bit more raw. But anyway, the top 80s song for me is probably Under Pressure, followed closely by AOBTD and Radio Ga Ga. I Want It All would probably make the top 10 for me. |
gooddrills 21.08.2011 15:45 |
I want it all is a great track and without a doubt a Queen classic. The Miracle album was my first 80's Queen album, it was lent to me by a friend on cassette and I couldn't stop playing it. I think it's an awesome album and the track order works well. I love khashoggi's ship, Was It All Worth It and Scandal especially. Great album cover, great tracks and great videos. What's not to like? |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 21.08.2011 18:40 |
No offence intended, but I remember hearing I Want It All and thinking: "oh, my God, Queen now is a sub-Bon Jovi." It bothers me less and less over the years, as they brainwashed us all by making it a constant presence. If I would choose an 80s song, I would think about the likes of Princes of The Universe, Dragon Attack, Under Pressure and Was it All Worth It. Cheers, Ogre- |

When I first heard I Want It All I remember thinking "here we go again - another Queen 'Kitchen Sink Song'." :-) I first thought that when I heard Somebody To Love. Strangely enough I didn't think it when I first heard Bohemian Rhapsody. :-) It was the video that surprised me - less fun than usual. :-( Martin |

For me it should be in the top 5 Queen ROCK songs from the 80's. I repeat ROCK. I also think Party and kashoggis ship are good songs |
jamster1111 22.08.2011 00:02 |
I would say either Play the Game or Save Me. Both classic tracks with a great melody and beautiful harmonies. Worst track from the 80's... Tear it Up. |

I think between Jazz and AKOM Freddie lost his way. He was too preoccupied with partying and living life. His writing skills suffered quite a bit from this lifestyle. Songs like Don't Stop Me Now, CLTCL, Body Language...are all not very interesting composition wise. Only a couple of songs from that period are genuinly brilliant. Good example is It's A Hard Life, although it has been said by the band that they were aware they were making a BoRhap'esque song and therefore probably approached it that way. It is not until Princess of the Universe that Freddie starts to incorporate his rich musical influences again (A well composed cinematographic pop song without a base-key.. quite brilliant) And later even exceeding boundaries with compositions like The Miracle and it's out of this world change at the end of the song. I guess for me it would be one of the following: - Princess of the universe - The Miracle - Was it all Worth It (Best Guitar riff EVER in a Queen song) |

The 80's had a lot of good queen tracks.....they were brilliant in the 70's, the 80's wern't brilliant, but they were still a very good band.....I could list a bunch of other songs i love from the decade..... |

You've forgotten about such great track like Hammer To Fall. It is one of the best songs from the 80's, IMO. |

I love IWIA. I don't know if it is my favourite track from the 80's (probably not), however I do love it. The 80's were nowhere near as good as the 70's, but there were a few songs which were outstanding, and IWIA is one of them. I think it's one of Queen's best hard rock songs, with one of Freddie's most forceful performances, and awesome guitar work from Brian. The vocal interplay between Freddie & Brian was classic Queen. :D |

I specifically sparked up the old sound system tonight just to listen to 'Keep Passing the Open Windows'. Understandable why it was never in contention as a single but some great drumming, guitar work, tempo changes and Freddie falsetto. A true hidden gem. |

I love that song. :D Apart from the 'love is all you need', I think it's a terrific song. It's certainly my favourite song off The Works. BTW, why is it 'understandable why it was never in contention as a single'? |
mooghead 25.08.2011 15:43 |
Don't know really, just not a commercial song. Would have been another 'Spread Your Wings' (ie brilliant, but over the heads of the record buying public) if it was a single.. |

This would be my top-5 from the 80's 1. Was it all Worth it 2. Under Pressure 3. Save me 4. Breakthru 5. Play the Game |
