ok....so QPL and Island are almost at the end of the remasters/reissues/deluxe editions/quick buck exercise, yet with each re-release the number of "angry voices" increases...why?
some facts:
1. QPL have never given a flying fuck for the fans and collectors
2. these things are meant to have bigger market appeal - ie those who may not have the cds and see this as getting an extra or two for free
3. we ALL know what the missing tracks are from each album session....they're all unfinished and Queen couldnt be arsed to polish them up enough to release them
4. they know that serious collectors have a copy of most stuff by now (with the exception of hangman and a couple of other tracks) the vast majority is in the "wild" by now
5. if they release all of the rare tracks we want on these "de-luxe reissues" (notice hyphen) then NONE of us will buy the anthologies*^^
NOTE:
* use of mythical terminology implies existence of said beast......rumoured for 10 yrs plus now
^^ chance would be a fine thing
you're deluding yourself if you even think they have the remotest interest in what we think. and please don't cite teh freddie boxset as evidence that they give the fans what they want. mos tof the stuff on that set needed very little cleaning up so the cash rewards were worthwhile. and anyway - he died - which was reason enough
all theya re interested in is the mass-market....unless there is some new way to generate huge sums of cash from an anthology series (and so far only the beatles have managed that)...then QPL will not bother. facts are: a full proper anthology series (a la beatles) would require too much love care and attention to detail...and QPl will not invest that much effort unless the financial gains are massive: they're not
the rumours have existed for 10 yrs...and still nothing......surely the message (for most queen fans) should be received and understood by now...."cat" and "hell's chance" spring to mind

than than the list of "what couldve been on there" ?
fe :
all the b-sides
all the 12" + single edits
different live-versions
hard to get-stuff (if you wanted to get No One But You... you would have to buy the whole platinum collection
to get this one track)
was this so hard ? I didnt even ask for demos !
Even some of the more "interesting" choices for demos or stripped back mixes(just vocals or just instruments)
arent doing anything for me ... like ..... is this the only existing take of Sail Away Sweet Sister with Brian mumbling
on it? what else is there ..half a BO RAP multitrack segment.... short Demos of The Kiss and Football Fight :( a let-down!words? I can go on and on forever ...... but, what will be the next release ?
*Amanda waits patiently*
I don't understand why QP keeps focussing on the general public. Queen, the name, the band, sells by definition. A 70s live release with unknown material? Doesn't matter. It has the name Queen, thus it must be good, thus it sells.
Just make your own bonus discs from the bootleg and official material you have in your collection - better sound quality and a wider selection of material to choose from.
Plus, you have the feeling of getting one over on QPL by not giving them any dosh.
Bada bing!

It is so very disapointing to be let down by Queen again...I don't think we will ever hear some unreleased material or real rarities....

Have you seen the track listing to the reissue of Flash Gordon just released? What exactly are you hoping for?
QPL missed an opportunity with the bonus disks - no excuses. A simple singles version, 12inch versions, B sides and then the current content would have been excellent and brought al the offical stuff together at least.
Perhaps they don't have that much to release though?. We've all heard the leaked demos etc. Some good, some terrible. Certainly most are interesting for a couple of listens but nothing amazing although there are exceptions to this.
I don't actually beleive they have that much of anything half finished. Freddie said on the magic years vid that if a song isn't working its left and they move on. So maybe the reason for no anthology is simply it wouldn't be that big?
My own extensive collection confirms this. 2-3 CD's per album inc. the 12inch, singles, edits and b sides. Infact the eatly Cd's probably 1 CD and a lot of it is not comercially viable. The freddie box set was really just all the released stuff with a few nearly finished alt. takes. Infact it was quite repetative.
BTW I LOVE QUEEN!!!!
i wonder if some people really miss the point of a proper anthology
the beatles anthologies only included two new tracks - both Lennon tracks reqorked in '94 by the surviving members....
proper anthoologies would give you interesting versions - outtakes, early versions, demos and the like of already well-known songs...now unless Queen systematically burned very single unused recording tape...there must be tonns of this stuff around...my reason? the complexity and evolution of many queen songs would mean there must be very many "bits that didnt work" or "work in progresses"...
i personally couldnt give a fuck about most of the unreleased songs....they're interesting as someone already said "for a couple of listens".....what i want to hear is
the outtakes and early recordings of masterworks like Queen II - side black, somebody to love, stuff that showed how songs evolved and what a fuckign genius brain FM had
