Just put on The Game on DVD-Audio for the first time in years - un-be-fuckin-lievable.
Is there any hope we may see more releases someday? I have The Game and A Night At The Opera - the job done on these is (of course) PERFECT. Oh to have 'em all. The ultimate dream.

I don't really think the format is in question, rather the quality of the audio. The DVD audio quality was stunning, so whether released on DVD or Blu-ray, it would be nice to hear them all in such quality. You could argue that CD died a while ago, but that hasn't stopped them re-releasing the CDs again.
DVD Audio like Super Audio CD (SACD) was meant to be the replacement for the standard CD, simular to HD DVD vs Blu Ray replacing DVDs, however unlike the hi def video war where there was a clear winner, the new higher quality audio war between SACD and DVD Audio never manage to capture peoples attention (or money) due to lack of new material being released on thoses systems, and the high cost of the machines to run.
It's also worth noting that the following album tracks have also been mixed in 5.1 surround and appear on the Greatest Video Hits DVDs:
Killer Queen
Tie Your Mother Down
Somebody To Love
We Will Rock You
We Are The Champions
Spread Your Wings
Bicycle Race
Don't Stop Me Now
Body Language
Calling All Girls
Under Pressure
Radio Ga Ga
It's A Hard Life
A Kind Of Magic
Princes Of The Universe
The Miracle
Scandal
Breakthru
The other tracks for these videos are the single or video versions, so would require another session to mix the album version into a surround sound mix, but it also means that some tracks are done, which wouldn't require starting entirely from scratch except for Queen, Queen II, Innuendo, Made In Heaven and The Cosmos Rocks.
I think Queen II in full surround would result in a rapturous experience for fans so awesome few would survive! :-)
IIRC, Brian May said after The Game was released that A Day At The Races was going to be the next release. As DVD-A has become obsolete (there are stil SACD releases) I think this was shelved. They could easily organise a blu-ray release for all the albums. Blu-ray handles higher resolution audio than DVD audio anyway. Warner Brothers are supposed to be introducing Hi Resolution audio releases in 2012.
Neil Young releases all his albums on blu-ray these days to take advantage of its hi-resolution audio. I suppose it depends on whether Universal believe they can make any money out of releasing hi-resolution multi-channel versions of the Queen albums - especially when, these days, people are more interested in the portability of music with MP3 players than high quality audio for the home (which is why DVD-A & SACD never took off)..
My YouTube channel currently has some of the stems listed above: link
Please grab these while you can because I will be removing all official Queen material by the end of August due to a re-branding of the channel.
I hope they do release more multichannel mixes in the not too distant future.
I found ANATO an interesting listen, but didn't particularly like The Game that much. In the end, both were a little loud for my tastes. Plus I didn't really like the fact that they used a different take of Coming Soon. Just irked me a bit
Much prefer to listen to the mixes that the band (as they were at the time) were directly involved in.

Fascinating definitely; but should it have replaced the original album version? I say no.
.....Bonus track, sure.
They didn't have a choice, the individual track for that original Roger vocal was missing. So they used an alternate take and switched the cover of the album to reflect that this was NOT the original album we were buying.
Given the choice of an alternate take replacement or no release at all, I'll take the replacement. If it had been done throughout the album on multiple tracks, I would still find it interesting, but would called the album The Game 2003 and consider it a separate album from the original (like The Beatles' Let It Be...Naked).

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
wasnt that because they lost the masters for Coming Soon? and had to re-do it from a stereo mix?
on the subject of dvd-audio.....yes it's a relic now.....but relics are not necessarily unusable....
i know people still using outdated tech.....laserdiscs, cdi, etc
modern science is littered with great stuff that quickly became junk-yard debris
betamax, mp3 discman, 3½ and 5¼ inch floppy drives, iomega zip 100s, all went the same was as laserdiscs and cdi....and i predict that bluray and the current format of DAB radio will be the next big casualties.....maybe a year or two yet...but they're going
There is a BluRay version of the 'A Night At The Opera' audio out there. I can't comment, however, on how much better it is than the DVD-A as it's the only BluRay disc I own and I don't have a BluRay player as yet..!
When I eventually get around to getting myself one, this will no doubt be the first thing I play. Purely to 'test out the speakers', of course..! :P

I have both.
The Lossless 24/96 5.1 mix on the Blu-Ray is way to loud.
The DVD Audio lossless 24/96 5.1 MLP is at a much more acceptable level.
In my opinion the DVD Audio is better in this respect.
Also, the 24/96 stereo LPCM on the Blu-Ray is from the 2011 re-masters, if you like that sort of thing.
