Hi everyone,
Long shot I know, but I am trying to track down an old friend of mine, he was well known amongst Queen fans in the 90s and was wondering if anyone could help.
His name is Andy, he used to deal in Queen records at all the big record fairs, particularly around Birmingham. He had a rare record shop in the Oasis in Birmingham around '92 where he gave me my first job. I think his girlfriend was called Nancy, I think. It was so long ago though. I believe he owned one of the coveted BR on numbered blue vinyls.
He was short, slightly overweight, and had long curly blond hair. He would wear Denim a lot. I think he was also quite active at the Queen conventions, and he took me to the Cross gig in Gosport.
Does anybody know him?
Thanks.
Based on your decription, I think I know who you're talking about and he used to do the VIP (or did they take over someone called P & J something or other?) and Transpennine record fairs. I used to buy quite a few things from him back in the day and remeber him mentioning the blue vinyl Bo Rap 7". I think he died quite a few years ago unfourtunately. Maybe someone else has more information?
Shit, you may be right because he was becoming ill with something very serious when I knew him, but as a dumb youngster I didn't really think about the implications and didn't try hard enough to stay in touch. I was just really hoping i'd get the chance to track him down and thank him for being so generous to me as a kid.
I left it far too long. I hope you are wrong, but it rings true to me because it was something I had feared I may discover.
