i havn't bought the remasters...Don't think it's worth paying for albums I already own on record and CD, but some of the bonus tracks have caught my attention...the one's I like so far are Dreamer's Ball (acoustic version) freddie's voice shines on this one. My melancholoy Blues with the added guitar and spread your wings...how do you think those versions compare with what ended up on the original records?....also, calling all girls live sounds amazing. probably the best live voice i heard from freddie.
MIke,
Ditto here - I downloaded them as torrents once they became available. No sense buying what I already have, but yep - only this set of bonus tracks are interesting. I'd also edge towards thinking that the unreleased material for Flash Gordon is better than what made the release itself.
Having said that though, the sound quality of all the bonus material across both phases of remasters is appalling - the loudness war is in full swing.

Mike, are you saying that SYW and MMB have added guitars to the existing BBC sessions? or are these the original BBC jobs untouched, but you hadnt heard them before?

i'm pretty sure the original BBC versions...i guess that makes these bonus tracks not so special....but, i never heard this version of Dreamer's ball and My Melancholoy blues..never heard calling all girls live either. i know youtube had all these recordings for a while, but didn't care to look.

Queen2 has alway's been a favorite of mine....but the production of the 91 version is muddy. i wonder if the new remaster has improved the sound at all.
Mike
strange thing about those BBC tapes.....i remember in the late 80s(i think) having a copy of the 77 session......it played a little fast (but the sound quality was excellent - esp for a bootleg)......but from that tape right thruall subsequent versions - tapes with faked audience noise (remember middlesex 78 fake bootleg) to at different mp3 bitrate versions, to flacs, to john stuart's mastertapes (flac) to this latest (official) release...the actual sound quality is no better....makes you wonder how much actual work QPL did on those bbc tapes
