WHAT IT IS
The 40th anniversary celebrations continue for legendary rock band Queen as they invite talented videographers and filmmakers to create an original music video for their 1977 classic track 'Sheer Heart Attack'. The winning submission will be used as a music video and featured across Queen’s social media channels and on NME.com. This will be the first original Queen video since 'Under Pressure' in 1999.
Queen are looking for fresh and innovative ideas, reminiscent of Queen’s past iconic videos as well as quality of editing from both a music and visual aspect and a balanced inclusion of all the band members.
There are 2 rounds:
Round 1: participants are invited to submit their reel showcasing their talent (must feature original content) for the chance to be selected as a finalist to then participate in Round 2.
Round 2: the selected finalists from Round 1 will be provided with the video of the ‘Queen on Fire Live at the Bowl' performance of 'Sheer Heart Attack'* to cut together, use as stop animation and work with their own original footage if desired. It is not essential or mandatory to use any Queen footage or visual material in the video and Queen openly encourage participants to use their own assets to create a wholly original piece.
* If participants choose to use the footage provided, there must be a balanced inclusion of all the band members.

Live At Wembley Deluxe DVD? What's this? Maybe a new release sign...
I hope this kind of projects (design a t-shirt, make a video) are not main projects for 40th anniversary. We all want to see some new releases, I think...
I know it is limited to film-makers for quality purposes, but it is maybe a tad unfair as there are many amateurs out there who could also make a great attempt at a new Queen vid. All you have to do is look through QZ to know that!
I think that they are looking for creative talent and skill, so as long as a person has made a few good films or videos as a hobby, then that person could make it through the first round. It sounds like a great opportunity. Exciting and fun! This is exactly the sort of interaction they should be having with their fans. Bravo.

yeah, i think too, its a good way to get involved, and it inspires creativity, rather then just setting up a program that allows people to just merge into the videos that are already made.
But i also hope that they do more re-releases or something. Or better still NEW material released :D

Sorry dude, your video doesn't contain any original content so it won't be included.
Hey guys! What is with the rules? There were a notes that there are allowed videos with ORIGINAL CONTENT only and not re-edited videos that infring the copyrights? Meanwhile there are some videos which are in fact only re-edited and compiled from previously existed Queen videos. It's inconsistent in comparison with the contest rules.

You are really annoying with your double posts - that's 2 of the same in the general section and now the same thing here in serious - and it's exactly the same thing you've slagged others for rofl - get some consistency man!!
