What do you think about parodies? You think it is good or is it bad?
Parodies can be different, but they often make fools of the stars and they can be hurtful.
As for a example, I want to show you the parody to Kylie Minogue from the British puppet show "Spitting Image".
Here's her famous I Should Be So Lucky song released as a single in 1987 and on album in 1988:
And here's the parody from Spitting Image from 1988:
If you compare both videos to each other, it will make laugh and it seems to be funny. But is it right to make such kind of parodies? I think they told much of shit about her in that parody.
Didn't watch them cos i'm listening to something else at the moment, but in general? I like some parodies, they can be genuinely funny, without being 'hurtful' as you said, or without being particularly disrespectful. There are a few Lady Gaga parodies going around that i love, but more that just really aren't that funny. If they're well done, and respectful i dont see what the problem is. I guess it makes a difference if it was made by someone who actually loves the song, or by someone who hates the song/singer.
Ha ha, I was going to show that one too :)
The Queen parody is an example of the good parody though.
The Kylie parody, as I said before, is very funny, but in the comments to that video I read that Kylie was pissed off at this sketch. It means it wasn't the good one.
From a Dutch TV programme called 'Koefnoen', which is known for their excellent parodies.
