Wembley Greatest Event top 5 (1923 – 2010)
1. 2007 Muse (H.A.A.R.P Tour)
2. 1988 Michael Jackson (Bad Tour)
3. 1986 Queen (Live at Wembley)
4. 2009 Take That (Circus Tour)
5. 1966 World Cup – England v Germany
I think Queen is situated at the correct place here, baring in mind the Wembley gig isnt the best of its tour and what most people have heard of it was been heavily overdubbed. 3rd Place isn't bad at all. I havn't seen Micheal Jackon's 1988 concert at Wembley so I wont argue whether, however Muse does deserve top spot. While there Wembley gig isnt the best Muse gig you could get (Glastonbury 2010 is their best gig [and best gig of that decade overall period]), Muse's HAARP is just amazing. I can see why some people would consider Muse; New Queen.
In reguards to Live Aid, while it is an amazing concert featuring Queen's best performance, along with some other great acts. You got to remember, most bands that night had some massive fails, due to some of them not taking it seriously.

Ah, but if memory serves Duran Duran played in the USA gig.
Apart from that - I am surprised that a Muse gig is higher than England winning the World Cup!

Guess I was lucky to be at both the Queen and Muse Wembley gigs : )

Duran Daran was at the american live aid, but so was Zepplin.
The 1966 England win wasn't really all that special. Sure it's iconic, and showcases England at their best at football, but since then England have quite SUCKED at that sport, and refering to the 1966 game can be quite deogatory at times.
Also Football is quite an overrated sport featuring overpaid players. So in a way, its a good thing it isn't number 1
Michael Jackson, only reason he got ranking is because he is DEAD!
Pink Floyd played three sold out shows on their Momentary Lapse Tour so that should have been honored and/or mentioned but never mind. Genesis' four night stand in 1987 should be included as well.
Queen at Wembley wasn't best gig, far from it.
I'm biased towards the 1970s to 1982 live era Queen so Live Aid was bland. I give credit they did well in England and restored their popularity in most of the world after the Sun City incident but the US and Canada gave the band the finger as it were (still pissed over Body Language, Radio Ga Ga and the I Want to Break Free video) so the focus went to Mick Jagger and Tina Turner's collaboration, reunions of Zeppelin and Black Sabbath (at the time Ozzy was a solo superstar) and Crosby Stills Nash and Young and a 25 year old Madonna getting the headlines over on this side of the pond.
Live Aid was a missed opportunity for Pink Floyd, Styx and Supertramp
reunions (all three had either disbanded (Pink Floyd due to Roger Waters' ego trip) or lost key members (Supertramp said sayonara to Roger Hodgson) or both (Tommy Shaw quitting Styx led Dennis DeYoung to disbanding Styx as he refused to replace Tommy)). Van Halen turned it down. Rush declined as they were working on Power Windows.

It's funny people now speak of the Live Aid performance of Queen as their best performance (probably the significance rose due to Freddie Mercury dying to get those accolades when he was alive, the rock media and press turned its back on Queen and focused on Van Halen, Def Leppard, Quiet Riot.
I actually fell asleep watching the performance on the Queen Rock Montreal Bonus DVD.
