His high notes are incredible. I always thought on the 84/85 and 86 tours, they could of performed another song rather than wasting time and effort with these Impromptus. |

I have always hated these things, and always skip them on CDs/DVDs. They could easily have replaced this with an early 70s track, since they had already revisited Liar and KYA, another 70s effort would have fitted. I suppose, as it is yet just another piece of Freddie indulgence, they could maybe just have popped a Made In Heaven or IWBTLY in there instead. Just a thought.... |

Those things were fun for the band and for the audience that was there. So it's great, when a band does something different in a concert to make it special. The only thing I might critisize is, that they did not dare to bring in a third chord.....that might have made it more exciting for the "bootleg listeners".... |

Been listening alot lately to my favourite impromptu, one that you posted (ps many thanks for that): link Now if only I could get a good audio file copy for mp3 player etc! Any ideas? I love how together the band are with Brian mimmicking Freddie's vocal impros beautifully. Admittedly I generally only listen until Bri does his 'Beatles' riff. But those first three minutes gloriously illustrative of a band who are sewn into each others' pockets! |

Thanks Hi Queenman, The Radio Ga Ga footage from Sydney is the only full song from this show. There is also the beginning of the show, Tear It Up and the band walking to the stage. The only other officially filmed video from 84/85 are from the two nights at Rio and the Tokyo concert from 11 May 1985. There are no soundboard recordings from the 1984 European shows. |

The Queen "impromptus" are a good example of the type of thing that works well live that doesn't translate well when listening to dozens of bootlegs from the same tour. U2 does a lot of stuff like this, where they throw in snippets of other songs and billions of references to the city they are playing in to give something a bit special to the audience... but gets grating when listening to a bunch of recordings. |

I'm sure that some day they will find those soundboard recordings and announce it under " recently discovered, recovered or previously unheard material" just like with the material used in The days of our lives documentary.... They just haven't dig it up from the pile of their tapes... I hope:) ! . As it was stated in the QOL interview, there are many tapes with only "QUEEN" label so if they didn't labelled and researched every single tape...than stating that "no we haven't got even one recording from that period" is plain wrong. I'm sure one day they will find recording from their first Works show, remember those words. |
