Didn't know this:
"Gold is also known for his biggest UK hit song "Never Let Her Slip
Away", which was a UK #5 hit twice, by him and again at #5 fourteen
years later by Undercover. Freddie Mercury, who was a friend of Gold's,
assisted him with the harmony background vocals of the song."

Hi! I listened to the song and I suppose "assisting" in "harmony backgrounds" did not include singing, as I didn't hear Freddie in the BVs. What do you guys think about it?
Cheers,
Ogre-
R.I.P indeed for Andrew Gold! I'm saddened to see he has crossed the final frontier. Gold's claim to fame in my eyes is singing the classic renedition of the magical theme tune 'Final Frontier', theme to the amazing States sitcom Mad About You. Thank you for doing that tune, Andrew Gold. It spurs on my thoughts of a Mad About You revival.
I'm dragging up this old post as I had never heard about Freddie contributing to this track before. Does anybody have any decent/reliable information on this?
When it says 'assisted him in the backinging vocals', do we know if this menas actually performed on the track, or just helped him structure them?
I've asked the same before about Roger's involvement on Starffleet, where Brian's sleeve notes say something along the lines of thanking Roger for his help on the backing vocals; my guess is that in that case Roger does actually sing on that rather than Brian just using him to help arrange them, as that's most likely something Brian would be well equipped to do himself.
Interestingly Roger says in the new Mojo interview that Freddie used to ring him up and ask for him to contribute backing vocals when he was recording Mr Bad Guy - do we have a definitive list of whether, and which tracks, Roger may have sung on for that??
Haven't got it on my iphone at work but pretty sure that I could hear Freddie clearly when I last listened to it.
I've just listened to the itunes preview and there is one particular backing harmony line - it goes "on a schoolday afternoon". Two voices, Freddie is the lower one.
And then the "ooohs" that follow do have a distinctly Queen flavour.
Make sure the version you are listening to is the original 1978 version from the album "All This And Heaven Too" because AG re-recorded it in 2008.
Wikipedia says..."Freddie Mercury, who was a friend of Gold's, contributed sparse harmony vocals to the song as an uncredited background singer." That statement is well referenced.
OK, hopefully we'll get this sorted one way or another soon.
i have just zapped off a number of emails to various engineers, studio staff and musicians tha actually worked on the AG album.
Will keep you posted.

Perhaps demos, but probably not on the final versions. Roger and Mike Moran do sing some BVs on the 'Barcelona' track, though Freddie still did most of them.
Ok. First reply in. Brock Walsh was producer and vocalist on the album. Also a Queen fan. He has emphatically stated that the story is just that. A story.
Freddie did not sing on Never Let Her Slip Away.
That's from the producer himself.
