My daughter had me watch it well let me say I threw up in my mouth all 4 of these so called stars screwed up Queen so bad not one hit any of the notes all I could say is they should never let untalented people sing Queen songs Bo Rap was a joke and the guitar solo wow Brian must be pulling his hair out on that one |

Your daughter should have made you use interpunction instead. |

Listen punctuation Nazis, if you had throw up in your mouth you'd be in a bit of a hurry too. As for The Voice, that karaoke medley was indeed remarkably awful. |
Sith 08.06.2011 07:38 |
There were 3 things I loved in that performance: 3. The enthusiasm of audience. 2. Seeing the Red Special. 1. The ending of the entire set. I like Xtina as a singer, but she butchered WATC. As far as the rest.... F.R. AWEFUL |

It's just small minded and utterly tedious. |

Wow, Really are you kidding me! I left school before you ever heard of Queen ! My daughter for the record is in collage for art and she is always busting my horns about that to. Im use to it but really if you call that music I dont know what you heard sounded like a bunch of shit. |

Sith wrote: 2. Seeing the Red Special. Yes, seeing indeed. The guy "playing" it was miming though, which is a shame since it's very rare you see people covering Queen songs on TV using the correct instrument in terms of guitar :-P Was it a Burns model though? It didn't have the half moon plate on the bridge... |

They medley was Bo Rap, WWRY and WATC. Song portions: Bo Rap - Really weak WWRY - just barely ok, but not really at all, because I would not want to hear it again WATC - way overblown (Christina) Guitar portion: this could have been cool, but considering the above, no. Overall: Cringe I'm usually more forgiving but this time disappointed. Am I glad they just covered the music? Not really. |

Not seen it yet, but I'm a little surprised to hear such news as I always thougt Cee Lo Green's voice would have suited some Queen stuff. I think he's a great singer. |

Rick wrote: ... and write gibberish from now on. ========== Oh nonsense. The OP's thoughts were perfectly clear, and not an invitation for anybody to go over them with a red pen. That person is using the forum as it's meant to be used, and you are on about somebody's ability and/or willingness to write to your satisfaction and standards. Some posters will think your average language enforcer is a great wit, others won't give a shit, and others will think you're behaving like a tedious, arrogant tool. You're of course free to write whatever you want on Queenzone. But people who think their own writing skills are some great personal accomplishment make me laugh. Our own intelligence, school life, home life etc. pretty much just happens to us. Nobody has any idea about the circumstances of anybody else's experience and why they have or don't have whatever skills you're being a jerk about, or whether it matters one bit to what they have to contribute in life. To me, if you're over 14 years old and not eager to be an idiot you should be able to respond to the thoughts behind this real person's (you know, with feelings and stuff) communication, or move on to some other thread. |

queenUSA wrote: Overall: Cringe I'm usually more forgiving but this time disappointed. Am I glad they just covered the music? Not really. ============================= Exactly. I'm not even sure it's neutral. Badly covering a lame medley of the same three songs so often that you actually make them seem old and sad is so much less than could and should be done. Would it kill somebody to take even a teeny tiny risk on these shows? |
The Real Wizard 09.06.2011 18:03 |
I understand both views here .. I fully agree that a lack of punctuation makes it a difficult read, as it actually requires time for the reader to piece it together into cohesive sections. But not everyone has that skill down pat. For many people it's actually a part of the brain that connects written language to spoken language that isn't fully developed. I have a cousin who went to grammar school for years and he still can't put a sentence together. But he's a brilliant mechanical engineer making six figures. That said... smugly pointing it out isn't going to suddenly fix their problem. But I did like your run-on sentence, Rick .. made me laugh ! |
Dusta 09.06.2011 19:16 |
I was actually disappointed. And my expectations are annoyingly low. The only reason I watched the show. I guess I was just surprised that the caliber of singers available could so dismally cover Queen. I'd always chalked it up to less than talented vocalists, in the past. |

'Queen - General Discussion.' Maybe we need a sticky personal thread about grammar if its an issue. By the time I got to the end of the thread, I had forgotton what it was about in the first place! And I have never heard of anyone being banned from anywhere for a Nazi reference. :/ |
Donna13 10.06.2011 13:35 |
WWRY isn't really a singer's song - it is all about the guitar solo at the end, so I'm surprised they included that song in the medley. Christina seems to belt out songs and also she puts her runs into any song, and that is a matter of taste, but I don't like it in every song. I like her voice on some songs, but it didn't work on "We Are the Champions". They only did the first segment of Bohemian Rhapsody. I have only seen small amounts of this show because I cannot watch it for more than about 10 minutes. |

I understand the urge to "make it your own" with Christina reaching into her style bag of runs - but it just does not belong in WATC - so blew it. The sad part is ... do they even know how it fell short, either them or the audience? At the medley's end they were all standing there preening as the audience clapped - they looked like the cats who got away with the cream (but we on QZ all know better than that). These songs were created while Queen was still battling to make it, living a hard scrabble life in London's dog eat dog competitive 70's music scene. It was a tough city - it still is today. it took a lot to make them and it takes a lot to sing them and reproduce them properly. I feel a bit ashamed that this happened on a Live American TV show in primetime - don't want to be the laughingstock of the world. |

The comments on youtube are scary, most seemed to think she nailed WATC. Each to their own I guess |
