thumbs up for Feeling Feelings, Sail Away Sweet Sister and It's A Beautiful Day. BBC Sessions? Nice, but we want it all!!! |
Rick 04.06.2011 12:44 |
What about the live tracks? They sound ace! Action This Day has a good balance between Roger and Freddie, vocally speaking. Roger sounds a bit muffled on the MK version, for example. Sheer Heart Attack is a rocking one. Great. Can't wait for these releases. |

Especially ones from previously released albums. If they can put a couple of live ones out, then they can put the whole show out...they know we'd buy it :) |
drmurph 04.06.2011 17:00 |
Wow, those were great to have a wee listen to. Unfortunately Thistleboy, QPL also know we''l buy these CD's too with only very few extras so why bother going all out with live releases? Still, I'm really looking forward to the release, let's just hope the polished up sound from Hyde park is a sign! |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 04.06.2011 19:20 |
Thank you very much for the heads up, silver_salmon! QPL knows the ocasional fan will probably buy and they certainly know we, the "creepy" fans (as Roger says) will buy it. Anyway, I'm very excited with these, even if they contain so little new stuff, it is still something. I need my Queen fix :). I am particularly happy with Flash Gordon. I was affraid we'd get a couple of Ah-Ah-Capelas. ;) Cheers, Ogre- PS: Feelings Feelings... ROCKS!!! |
Back2TheLight 04.06.2011 19:25 |
Pretty sweet version of Dreamer's Ball on the extras... |
YannickJoker 04.06.2011 19:32 |
I can't wait to hear It's A Beautiful Day in full. |
Isle0fRed 04.06.2011 20:04 |
The Battle Theme on Deep Cuts 2 is abit dissapointing. The NOTW seems like the best value for purchase |
Rick 05.06.2011 03:01 |
Is it me or is the live version of Calling All Girls a different mix from the one on the Live at the Bowl DVD? |
Vali 05.06.2011 03:54 |
thumbs up to most of the bonus material in the 2nd batch! can't wait !! The most fascinating to me, definitely, is The Kiss/Football Fight running together as one song! Fantastic !!! |
liam 05.06.2011 04:50 |
Awesome! While I think DSMN could've done with some more guitar, I can see why they ended up removing the guitar shown here from the final mix. It just doesn't sit right. |
The Fairy King 05.06.2011 07:29 |
Hope they'll release a boxset, so i can buy all at once. :P |
Hangman2011 05.06.2011 09:03 |
I hope that we'll see anything worthwhile until the end of this year. And I do not wanna hear and see again tour with Paul Rodgers |
Ziggy_SD 05.06.2011 09:11 |
OMG! The long-lost guitars on Don't Stop Me Now sound superb!! Can't believe they took them out in the first place! |
Ron 05.06.2011 11:07 |
The Flash Gordon extra tracks sound very promising! I also expected a stripped down version of Football Fight but this appears to be a whole different take incl piano. Great! I also hope the booklet will tell us which take we get of Feelings Feelings. |
Kevinrm15 05.06.2011 13:33 |
Take 10, it's stated so in the press release. |

Rick wrote: Is it me or is the live version of Calling All Girls a different mix from the one on the Live at the Bowl DVD? ============= It's hard to tell because the samples are in mono. We'll have to wait and see. I hope they didn't change a thing, as the version from the DVD menu is absolutely perfect. |

Once you actually have the tracks out in front of you to check out, you realize how utterly lame -- overall -- these deluxe editions are. I am, of course, VERY happy and excited to have the true rarities here, like Feelings, Feelings, DSMN, Dreamer's Ball, The Kiss, Football Fight, Sail Away Sweet Sister, Beautiful Day..but that's just seven tracks on five CD's! I mean, seriously, how could they not include the COMPLETE NOTW BBC Sessions.. It's mind boggingly inane. It makes absolutely NO SENSE! I just don't get it. It's so aggravating...and the inclusion of live tracks already released, more than once in some cases, is utterly stupid and shameful...and advertised as 'rare bonus tracks'??? Come on!!! I guess I shouldn't complain and just be happy that we've gotten the above mentioned true rartities, the few pieces on the first set of releases and -good lord- the De Lane Lea demos complete..can you imagine if they only put on 1/2 of those..? Still, these deluxe editions could have been and SHOULD have been much, much better....so sad... |
Djdownsy 05.06.2011 20:21 |
'Sail Away Sweet Sister' and 'Dreamer's Ball' sound class, IABD sounds like it's missing something, which was obviously found on MIH. |

In fact, all albums have been improved a lot. Also, A Beautiful Day is really a demo. A lovely demo. John did a great job in making it a complete track. It has to be said. |
dysan 06.06.2011 03:51 |
Amazing stuff if you ask me - Brian mumbling the words to SASS, the Flash tracks are fantastic - It's A Beautiful Day will always sound like a shit 90's song so kind of ruins The Game for me. All in all - well pleased. |
The Loser In The End 06.06.2011 05:16 |
I always thought that "Hot Space" could benefit from additional remastering; a bit more of everything basically. So I'm indeed currious how this edition will turn out. Obviously they will be using compression to make it sound 'up to date' and, well, to make it sound like they've actually done something -- which, in most cases, I seriously regret, but for "Hot Space", it could actually result in something surprisingly nice... |
Jazz 78 06.06.2011 06:14 |
Feelings, Feelings sounds like an alternate take. |

But, still, when you think of some of those true deluxe editions put out by artists like Elton John, where you get a second disc with anywhere from thirteen to Twenty rarities, it sort of makes you imagine what could have been. |

Maybe QP has more surprises in store for us. |

I got my first five accidental imports in their nice Queen box late last week. I am currently losing the battle with my wiser self to resist buying the rest as overpriced imports so they "match" and so my nice Queen box doesn't have unsightly gaps. Sigh. My original plan had been to buy the domestic releases up to The Game. Nutty how a 35 cent cardboard box can make me think this way. |
MercurialFreddie 06.06.2011 14:06 |
Now I am wondering, why the It's a Beautiful Day on MIH has that "fresh" sound - especially the piano and the demo lacks it... they've left it that way... I mean the demos are cleaned up a bit(not altered but "remastered") ? |
woodstar12 08.06.2011 05:09 |
Some reasonably good stuff here...mixed with not so good. Feelings feelings...brilliant...... Don't stop me now (guitars)....sounds heavier...brilliant Beautiful day...excellent I never liked : Sweet sister or dreamers ball much though. The live stuff is good, but better to release the whole gig....not snippets Overall I will buy it...for the collection....so thanks....but I am itching for some better live stuff in its entirety |
Catbert 08.06.2011 17:20 |
I can't help feeling the instrumental and a capella versions are harbingers of remix/HD/DTS/whatever releases to come. |
TheBelgianKillerQueen 12.06.2011 09:32 |
I suppose there won't be a box or something special for those who have already the Queen40 Box ? Cuz I don't know if I can pre-order now or if I should wait a bit more.. |
sbazb 13.06.2011 04:26 |
New preview clips now up on iTunes! Jazz and Hot Space are sounding great - much better than the 1994 remasters, which seem to lack a lot of the bass end to my ears, and generally sound quite flat (dynamic-wise)... Also loving Don't Stop Me Now (with long-lost guitars)!! |
dysan 13.06.2011 04:54 |
In response to the 'what might have been' comments (that I have though as well) - it might be possible there actually isn't that much material left over. We're getting live takes, alternate versions etc I just think this is all there is to offer us. I'm sure the guys have demos etc, but would maybe not consider them worthwhile. I'd rather 5 or 6 tracks per disc rather than endless live versions watering the albums down further. |
Rick 13.06.2011 06:23 |
Only two weeks remaining. Can't wait :) |

That cover for Deep Cuts 2 is so damn great. Are they by any chance selling a poster of just that?? |
