Hi
I am trying to locate a book or similar that gives me accurate piano scores of how Freddie would have played the part, rather than it being just an arrangement to include the melody etc.
Does any books/sheets exist like this?
Thanks a lot
I have what is called a "Full Band Score" for A Night At The Opera. I't has all instrument parts and the vocal written in standard musical notation, plus guitar tablature. I know such a book also exists for Innuendo. A little, ehm, "creativity" searching the internet will get you a long way.
Hi Thanks
I actually hadn't considered searching for the full band score as I was after just piano but searching this does seem to come up with some results so thanks a lot!
Olly
See, this is what I like. Nice polite, concise discourse, Sometimes this place can get a bit silly.
Usually it goes something like this
Round 1
Grand 2 : Upright 1
Round 2
Grand 1 : Upright 1
Grand wins 3-2 on aggregate
There are books of Greatest Hits I & II called 'Off The Record' which are the full scores of all instruments and vocals (Included the piano of course). There were sold back in the early 90's, but you might find a copy.
Queen, Innuendo, Classic Queen, and Queen Rocks were also available in the full-band 'Off The Record' format.
Not 100% accuate by any means, but worth checking out.
Question... not regarding full band score... but I thought I'd post here as the people visiting the thread may be in the know.
Some piano sheet music has been released for download in the shop at the Queen official site... random tracks from various albums, some that I've never seen released properly before, such as PVG for some Sheer Heart Attack and Night At The Opera tracks... Anyway, does anyone know if there are plans to release official songbooks for each album during this 40th anniversary year? Would be best time for them to cash in on it, surely. Even if they don't release songbooks, what about all the tracks as downloads... that would be better than nothing... As I say, the selection available currently is very random, and I don't understand how these would be done and not others.... Anyone around here know of any concrete plans by Queen Productions Ltd.
I'm also very eager to one day have a collection of full band score for every album, but I know that's never gonna happen!! :(

Thanks - I believe that both of these are out of print now. However I managed to find Greatest Hits I on the Amazon Marketplace.
There is a book currently in print which I have ordered: link which looks pretty good
Go to this site - link - they have midi files on there, which are the full bands recordings. The guy that does the Queen songs is Japanese, he 'lifts' all of the individual pieces from the tracks. Even Mr May rates his work. You can then put the midi files in a notation programme or Cubase, or other programmes. If you need to know anymore, get in touch.
But I suppose you are a muso, so you will know what I mean. Good luck. The site is safe by the way.
Thanks for this - really helpful!
My new books arrived today so I have started working on it now though will check out the midi files as well! already found some innacuracies in the book!
The books generally are very good and accurate to a degree but there are many omissions to parts. (Especially ANATO) Lots of 'artistic' licensing but it hasn't been until I have been making my own transcriptions of the songs that I have noticed the frequency. A good example is 'Good Company'.(which I aim to replicate anon.
The midi files are also a little incorrect too....but, excellent for allowing people to pick out the parts. I have done 'Millionaire Waltz', 'All Dead All Dead' , Prophets Song, MOTBQ transcriptions and many more for my own replication etc and I'd like to feel they are closer than the aforementioned? :-O
It's only the analist in me (sounds wrong..... :) ) that makes me not rely exactly on the Off-the-Record/ midi's but I do understand that most people just wanna get the bits quickly and play.
I don't use Midi at all......not savvy with all that.
I do it the old fashioned way and write on manuscript. The vocal harms, guitar orchestrations, bass (and drums, on occasion-I did for my 'White Queen' version.) Piano sheets I have done(that I can still locate) are All Dead All Dead, Lily of the Valley, My Melancholy Blues...... A lot of the stuff I have mislayed....
A lot of them aren't rhythmically 'perfect' in the notation but it is understood by me and I know what I meant by the note values. eg: I may write a dotted crotchet instead of a minim....etc
