I was listening to this concert--and I notice something weird about Freddie's voice: He sounds extremely dry/thin, and has little power on the higher notes (throughout the whole concert):
Now compare to this version:
At Brussels, he has his chest power, his vibrato, and correctly sings the verse. At Stockholm, he almost shouts the notes, sounds very thin, etc.
Can anyone help me out on this?
Freddie sounds absolutely knackered in that Stockholm clip! Agreed, very "thin" sounding indeed. Brussels is not too much better, IMHO, but definitely has more power, if you like. It's quite difficult to understand why this might have been, as isn't Stockholm the first gig of the tour? Brussels a few nights in? Dunno, maybe it was something daft like he had a cold or something (which would be unlucky on the opening night), or maybe first night nerves? Or perhaps it is just dread at having another 20-odd of these to go! Maybe the realisation had just kicked in that he was "committed" to yet another tour. The doc last night explained that Fred was tired at this point.

On the later gigs--it was getting tired, but on the early leg, his vocals were superb!
It's more of an observation than a discovery.
EDIT
This doesn't contribute to the thread, why do I say anything when I don't have anything productive to contribute? Uff!

Stockholm is the very first gig on the tour! I don't understand why Freddie sounds so dry/thin! I've had people say that the climate/weather had a factor. Maybe he did have a cold or something (maybe a chest cold--since his chest voice is really thin-sounding). Freddie sounds much more powerful and better on the later gigs!
Brussels is way better than this--at that gig-Freddie nails the 1st verse! Even on his weaker gigs (Wembley, Marbella, Zurich, etc), Freddie always sounded powerful--he never sounded dry/thin like he does on Stockholm!

Still not a fan of that Brussels effort, tbh.

You don't like it? Ah, fair play then! I've seen comments saying that they love Zurich's version (hehe), so I've seen it all!
You're probably right--he probably had a cold or something!
Could have just been the way it was recorded too...I mean you're dealing with aincient tape recorders from the 80's that captured these gigs. It's kinda tough to really say...just a thought...

Was thinking about this today while listened to Berlin 86 gig. All these stadium-gigs (especially Leeds 82, Stockholm 86, Stevenage 86 as for me) have dry and thin sound without indoor reverb.

There is a difference though: On the other gigs you mentioned--Freddie has alot more chest power and I can easily hear him sing very chesty. On this Stockholm gig--there's almost no chest power!
