If not, anyone know where we can watch it from the US? |
mc7t 29.05.2011 17:13 |
Hi, Yes, i've recorded it to DVD, just waitng for part 2 tomorrow.. Haven't watched it yet (on a late at work), but just flicked through it & saw the lost performance of "Killer Queen" Brill!! |
brians wig 29.05.2011 17:15 |
So it was "Killer Queen" that turned up on Dick Emery's tape was it? |
Hangman_96 29.05.2011 17:16 |
I've just ended watching it. Unfortunately, I couldn't record it. This damn function didn't work in the Internet TV, but Oh God! That was AWESOME! They showed the footage of Queen recording We Are The Champions in the studio!!! And many other rare and unseen videos. |
Russian Headlong 29.05.2011 17:25 |
I sky plussed it. Its fucking awesomne, the best documentary about Queen ever. If part 2 is a tenth as good it will still be great. Anyone know how to convert from skybox to dvd. |
Raffy 29.05.2011 17:29 |
Please if someone could post this on Queenzone it would be amazing... I'm from Italy and unfortunately we can't receive here Bbc2... thanks! |
advanced159 29.05.2011 17:34 |
i love the footage of the band recording we are the champions ....here a photo: link |
Bo Alex 29.05.2011 17:34 |
Please share it! It would be great. Here in Argentina we can't watch BBC2. |
Adam Baboolal 29.05.2011 17:39 |
Excellent first part. Really looking forward to tomorrow's 2nd part. Also, it's on the BBC HD channel tomorrow, so maybe best for someone with HD recording/editing capabilities to try and get hold of that for us on QZ? I have HD, but while I can record it, can't get it off the drive to edit :( Adam. |
Djdownsy 29.05.2011 17:40 |
Even the NOTW tour behind the scenes bit is awesome. |

At the risk of sounding condescending, have you tried connecting a DVD recorder to the scart output on the back. It's not a difficult concept to grasp..... |

heres a link to part one of the first half. cheers to the uploader. link |

I believe it was Seven Seas that was on the Dick Emery tape. They did show some of the "lost" totp of Killer Queen. Surprising bit for me was Brian's emotional tears when he was talking about his Dad being at the Madison Square show. That caught me for some reason. But yes, this was one of the best documentaries (so far) about the band. |
KevoM 29.05.2011 18:34 |
Can't see the HD version adding much to it as It'll only be the new interviews that will be in HD, so more wrinkles and grey hair! OK, I can forgive them for showing only short clips of the 'lost recordings' as it has to fit into a one hour broadcast but why would you want to crop them to 16:9??? Pure sacrilige! Why not just pillar box them to 4:3 like other archive doc/sport programmes do. Let's hope (and I DO mean HOPE) that a future DVD release will show the clips in their original 4:3 entirety. |
Back2TheLight 29.05.2011 18:58 |
Two words about this documentary so far...fucking amazing! :D |
Doga 29.05.2011 20:49 |
What is the different from show it in 16:9 or 4:3? It looks better in 16:9 i think |

flu wrote: What is the different from show it in 16:9 or 4:3? It looks better in 16:9 i think You lose approximately 33% of the original picture (divided between the top and bottom portions of the footage) when you crop footage originally shot in 4:3 full screen to 16:9 widescreen. Also taken to be a major 'fuck you' to us collectors especially when it involves previously unreleased or unbootlegged material. |

Some great moments, nice to see a docu that isnt just stuff we've seen before in a different order. One thing it did for me was inflame my HATRED of Paul Gambafuckingcinni. I swear to god if I dropped dead today he would turn up at my funeral making out we'de ben best mates all our lives. Hopefully the Champions studio footage will appear in full at some point, why was it black and white? The world had gone colour by then!? |

Anyone know how to convert from skybox to dvd. There should be a USB outlet on your Skybox to allow you to connect directly to your PC. You can then (if you have the software to do so) author it and burn to DVD. |

One of the best way to put to DVD (in the UK anyway) is to record it using a Freeview Hard Disk/DVD recorder combi from the likes of Panasonic. I use a DMR Ex77 which also allows for basic editing/trimming and adding chapters. No quality loss. In fact all my Queen nDVD TV stuff is done this way. They also do a HD HDD/Blu Ray version now but v pricey. |

Anyone notice they used bootleg artwork about 1:30 in ?? link |
Rick 30.05.2011 10:59 |
Not until now. Interesting, haha. Roger: " I remember people saying: "You guys are bad". Now what does that mean? It means you're good." Gotta love these anecdotes. |

OK I couldn't resist and I downloaded it and watched it. I L O V E IT !!!!!!! If somebody from Queen Productions Ltd. will read this - PLEASE RELEASE IT ON DVD ! Also, we seriously need a complete BBC TV performances DVD ! And it's great to know they have the soundboard multitracks for Hyde Park, I hope the cleanup job and remixing means we're gonna get a CD / DVD soon :-) |
Rick 30.05.2011 11:56 |
Haha, I feel the same way, Peter. I crave a Hyde Park release! Love these two shots: link link |

Then again they may just remain locked away in the Queen vaults with all the other 70s gems ! |

Do you see the bits from Sao Paulo, that footage was shown on 4:3, but Rio, Wembley, Budapest, Live Aid, Hyde Park... in 16:9 so maybe they was filmed originally in 16:9 with more quality that we can expect from those crapy bootlegs that we saw all this years. Even Rio looks superb, so maybe that gigs were filmed with good cameras and losed quality in the conversion to the VHS. |
GinjaNinja 31.05.2011 04:47 |
I think the really low quality stuff was kept in 4:3, but the stuff they have on serious formats or in good quality was cropped to 16:9. The Sao Paulo footage would have looked awful cropped to 16:9. |

No, they were originally shot in 4:3 and cropped to 16:9 to fit the overall 16:9 format of the doc. The exception being Budapest which was shot on 35mm film like Montreal 81, could potentially be cropped to 1.85:1 (16:9). |

They showed all the album covers at the beginning of each new 'section' apart from The Game....why? |

KevoM wrote: They showed all the album covers at the beginning of each new 'section' apart from The Game....why? ------------ You're right. It's not there. Strange. To the one who sent me a PM: I can't reply for some reason. But I have one thing to say: you could make lots of people happy by sharing what you have. That is how Queenzone basically works. Give it some thought. |
