Today is right 25 years after awful Chernobyl disaster happened. It happened on April 26, 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the Ukrainian SSR (now Ukraine). Many people died and now it's a "dead" place. No-one lives there since then.
At 1:23 A.M., reactor four suffered a catastrophic power increase, leading to explosions in its core. This dispersed large quantities of radioactive fuel and core materials into the atmosphere and ignited the combustible graphite moderator. The burning graphite moderator increased the emission of radioactive particles, carried by the smoke, as the reactor had not been encased by any kind of hard containment vessel. The accident occurred during an experiment scheduled to test a potential safety emergency core cooling feature, which took place during the normal shutdown procedure.
Radiation was spread at the whole world. People, animals and plants, who were there near Chernobyl, have mutated and it has led to awful mutations at all.
There were many courage and brave people who went there to save people's lives and all they died right on the next day or a few days after disaster had happened. They didn't think about themselves and they gave their lives to save other people. Let's remember them in that day!
Yet we still don't seek alternative energy sources. If this won't teach people, nothing ever will ..
Chernobyl has become a mere source of humour and little more. What used to be "When hell freezes over" is now "After the Chernobyl Olympics."
Nonetheless, I'll be thinking about those people today.
