link Enjoyed watching this. It's good to see an interviewer come prepared with some decent questions and good knowledge of the band. One of the reasons why Queen interviews are so dull is the quality of the interviewer -- same old questions, over and over again. No wonder the band always looked bored. |

That was a good interview...thanks for posting. You know you've got a decent interviewer when Alex says something Geddy finds interesting and has never heard about a 30 year old song given how many times these two have sat down together to be interviewed. On a side note you can always tell Geddy is used to representing internationally because he always pronounces 'Toronto' correctly, and not like people who actually live there/near there and/or visit regularly from within the province. That's something more like 'Toronno' or 'Tronno'. It's kind of unfortunate they used clips from 'Time Stands Still'. It's one of the few that hasn't translated well to Geddy's lower pitch and I always find his voice sounds strained on it. |

Great interview... agreed on all points. But damn, Geddy can't sing Time Stand Still anymore. Heck, he couldn't even do it in 1994. Lyrically it is the single greatest song I have ever heard, and I think they should've retired it for this leg ... Geddy can't do it justice anymore. But he's pushing 60, so I won't blame him. I'll be seeing them next week .. greatly looking forward to it. Every time I wonder, is it the last time .. ? |

I'm seeing Rush this sunday--and I'm gonna record the show! |

It was kind of funny. They played Lakeside Park on my local rock radio station last night, and after the song the DJ was closely paraphrasing Geddy's whole rap about Tom Sawyer and how they didn't have the perspective to recognize it as some of their best work etc. etc. He didn't credit the RS interview at all, and just presented it as kind of mystical knowledge plucked expertly from air vibrating on a frequency only accessible to super duper DJs. I was like "ha ha...I know where you got that!" Bob, sounds like you're maybe seeing them at Copps? That's where I saw them in '91. Greg, hope you have a great night. They're an amazing live show and I'm sure they'll fulfill all your expectations and more. |

I just got back from seeing Rush! Completely awesome! Over three hours of music, excellent playing, Geddy in great voice, and a great crowd. Geddy sang Time Stand Still just fine, got all the notes on Freewill, and embellished notes everywhere! |

Glad it was a great night Greg. :) Let us know if you put anything up on YouTube. |

What about the show itself, not the notes the singer was able to hit? The atmosphere? The videos? |

The show was awesome. Started right on time (7:30 pm) and went all the way to 10:50 pm (with a 15 minute intermission between sets). I remember sitting in my seat getting my recording device ready, then suddenly the lights dimmed and the show started (with the Time Machine movie intro). The place was nearly sold-out, and the crowd was totally into the set (even the newer songs off Clockwork Angels: "BU2B" and "Caravan"). I can also put the myth aside that there's no female Rush fans at concerts. I saw a decent amount of chicks (many great-looking ones I may add) with their Rush T-shirts on, and I overheard a conversation between a few of them on how sexy Geddy Lee's voice was (LOL)! It was also surreal to see guys in their 40s and 50s air drum to Neal Peart's solos and fills (remember, they were my age when Rush was in their prime)! The whole crowd loved the Time Machine movies during the Introductions, and the movie at the conclusion of the show. The guys may be pushing 60, but they aren't slowing down--and they continue to amaze and get better with age: The whole band was very tight, on the money, and they were so into the crowd and the set. I've read comments saying that this show was better (overall), than the previous one (that was filmed for an upcoming DVD release)! I suffered from temporary tinnitus from all the freaking EXPLOSIONS and pyro effects throughout the show (the explosion during "Far Cry" made me jump, and I almost pissed myself--I was full of soda and beer)! Neal's drum solo was amazing (can't believe he can drum that fast at 59), very creative, and all the fans around me were screaming like little school-girls! The band also performed one of the best-ever versions of Working Man--Alex Lifeson performed probably the best solo of that song ever, Geddy slapped and played that bass like a man on amphetamines (as well as hitting those impossible high notes), and Neal looked so serious--yet had to make funny faces during the song! These guys continue to defy their age. You gotta see them live--it's worth every penny. Here's the set-list: "First set introduction" “The Spirit of Radio” - Great version: Alex is on fire, Geddy nails the SALESMEN notes “Time Stand Still” - Surprised that this song was played! Geddy sang it well-don't worry “Stick it Out” - Another surprise--sounded very heavy and raw! “Workin’ them Angels” - Love this song live--one of my favorites off Snakes And Arrows “Leave That Thing Alone” - Absolutely brilliant version - shows why Geddy Lee is a legend “Faithless” - Love Alex's playing on this “Brought You to Believe” - one of two new songs played (AKA BU2B), liked the song. “Free Will” - Fantastic version, Alex really nailed the song-crowd was screaming throughout-Geddy hits the F5s! “Marathon” - Another lost gem. I love the Power Windows stuff live--much better than the album version “Subdivisions” - My personal favorite Rush song - superb version overall. INTERMISSION (15 minutes) "Second set introduction" “Tom Sawyer” - As soon as this song started, the arena went apeshit--awesome version. “Red Barchetta” - another great rendition “YYZ” - I saw dozens of air drumming, air guitar, and air bass to this! “Limelight” - Had an awesome solo by Lifeson--another superb version of the song. “Camera Eye” - Oh man. This epic was intense. Crowd loved it, and I can still hear the synths! “Witch Hunt” - Awesome version, LOVE the effects during the song “Vital Signs” - What can I say? Awesome playing as usual “Caravan” - the other song off of Clockwork Angels. I like it! “Malnar” – Drum Solo - Neals Peart's drumming makes me jizz--and I'm not a drummer. “Closer to the Heart” - I loved that they revived this song. Awesome version “2112 Overture” - Whole arena was jumping up and down to this song and throwing out the HEYs (with a first-pump)! “Far Cry” - Great version--the explosions scared me! Encore ” La Villa Strangiato” - Epic version. “Working Man” - My new personal favorite version ever (the musicianship was unbelievable!)! "Closing movie" Additional notes: 1. I tried recording the audio, but the sound is worse than Sao Paulo 1981 (2nd night). There's good news though, I talked to some people during the intermission, and they said that they are recording the show, and going to put it on sites like "DIME" and "Guitars101." 2. Worth every penny. 3. Loved the set-list (and the whole Moving Pictures album? AWESOME)!!!!! Here's some photos: link And here's some Youtube channels with video: link link link |

Thanks for the set list, Greg. Will be seeing them Friday in Baltimore. Very similar to previous shows. I read where the Cleveland gig was filmed for dvd. I'll assume you saw them at Joe Louis or Auburn Hills. They should have filmed a Detroit concert. Hell, the Q+PR gig there was the best of the NoAmerican concerts. Best fans in the states. |

I saw them at the Palace Of Auburn Hills! |
