Does the Royal Family, at this point in time, have any crucial role in the country itself? I know here in the states, for some reason, there is all this hype of the English Royal Wedding coming up. For the English in this situation, are you guys all hyped up too or basically don't really care as I do?
well im from england and every shop i go into there is always merchandise about he royal wedding, mugs, flags of will and kate, key rings, money boxes, plastic cups and plates, aprons and much more (i admit, i bought a mug) but on the news theres bound to be something on about it every day. and theres always a tv add with something to do with them, it pisses of some people but for me i think its quite nice
Had you asked this question about 15 years ago, I would have droned on and on about the royal family being parasites and how nothing less than their public executions would be sufficient to deliver this country from the shackles of so on and so forth.
10 years ago I would have pretended that I didn't care but I'd put so much effort into not caring that the anti-royal venom would start to spill over.
5 years ago I honestly couldn't have cared less.
Now I say good luck to them and I hope they're happy together. I wont be waving a union jack on the big day but I've come to realise that they do more good than bad and the money they spend on diamond encrusted toilet paper and roast swan sandwiches is a fraction of the money they bring in via tourism.
fatty.

Not really, apart from public relations and tourism everything else is done through parliament, the queen can't even behead anymore.
The Queen does have the power to dissolve parliament, which she did last year.

I personally couldn’t care less, but business wise, being a newsagent, I’m going to sell more newspapers and magazines.
Amendment 3(a) of the British Imperial Rulebook states that all colonials have to organise a street party and celebrate a royal wedding. All Canadians, Americans, New Zealanders and Australians should get started right away on that. There needs to be lots of Union flags, and the protocol is that they must fly higher than your own colonial flags. It should look a little like this street party on the Falls Road in Belfast: link
All ladies must dress tastefully like this, especially Canadians: link
So start looking jolly and for the next fortnight, celebrate your imperial ties and subservience to our Royals as the consequences of non-compliance can be severe. Our superheroes, Union Jack Jackson, Captain Britain, D-Day Dawson and err... Dangermouse are in a state of readiness to enforce Imperial protocol. link
Now Queenzone, let me hear three cheers for her majesty: Hip hip, hoorah! Hip hip, hoorah! Hip hip, hoorah!
Excelsior.

You know, this is really sad. Rich, poor it doesn't seem to matter. You get married and your whole sex life just goes to shit.

There! See? See this world and Queen Productions? And Joxer? This is the way you do it! Never, never forget the Canadians. And though America is a great country, once in a while you just have to let Canada come first. Otherwise Canada gets really stressed out.
i look at it like this,if the Canadamericans and the rest of the colonies all throw a party then it means that i dont have to,its bad enough that my taxes are paying for it!
*goes back into his shed and carries on tending to his Dahlia's and bemoaning the whole thing*
Canada actually pays more per capita to retain our ties to the monarchy than do Brits. Strange but true. So it's costly, but how much is history and your own collective story worth? It's not something I'd choose to see abolished in Canada, but I suppose it's inevitable at some point. Besides the Queen is really funny when she visits. She brings a bunch of hats and looks grumpy for days at at time. It's great!
I know there have been other Royal Weddings since Charles and Diana, but it will be kind of nice to have a chance to reset the love and romance button for this family and those in the public who attend to these things. C & D turned out to be such a sad and prosaic story.
