You asked for it and here it is . From the vault of a famous UK collector , here comes the famous second BBC session. For sessions 1 and 3 go to your local CD shop and ask them for either "At The Beeb" or for "Queen at the BBC", sessions 4, 5 and 6 were already shared here. Date : 25. July 1973 Studio : Studio Langham 1 Produced by : Jeff Griffin Broadcast on: 13. August 1973 on Bob Harris' Sounds of the Seventies Originally aired without KYA as a 3-track session, repeated 24. September as a 4-track session Tracklist 1. See What A Fool I've Been 2. Liar 3. Son And Daughter 4. Keep Yourself Alive It's Queen's 40th anniversary this year, I hope we won't have to wait for the 50th anniversary till we get an official release of the BBC sessions :-) Download link: Multiupload : link Rapidshare : link Megaupload : link Depositfiles : link Hotfile : link zshare : link I don't know HOW do YOU listen to this, but I personally created a 4 CD compilation for myself, disc 1 includes session 1, session 2, In Concert (Golders Green Hippodrome), Disc 2 includes session 3, session 4, session 5 and the Live Aid performance, Disc 3 includes my Hammersmith Odeon 75 compilation, and disc 4 includes session 6 and an edited Alexis Korner interview with Brian May on Guitar Greats from 1983. If "somebody" could create a cover for something similar, it would be great :-) Enjoy |

Thank you very much for sharing this BBC-Session! : ) |
John S Stuart 26.02.2011 10:02 |
Basically, the BBC cut the famous "Ogre Battle" intro, as they thought it too uncommercial for repeated airings. Unfortunately, the BBC never did re-air the session. Unfortuately, by the time Band Of Joy published their "Queen At The Beeb CD" in the early 1990's, the intro was well and truely lost. However, having downloaded from the above link - Here is [pittrek's] re-creation of Ogre Battle : link All I can say is that he has done an excellent job. I don't really know how he was able to do it - but this is the best attempt at stitching both these bits together I have heard, and believe me, I have listened to some dodgy recreations. I also think this should be retittled as "Ogre Battle" (BBC Complete Pittrek Restoration version)! |

To Sir GH; knock yourself out bud! I often wondered what QPL could do - if they were to release these officially - so it would be a bit of a bonus if you could spare the time to give them a bit of a dusting and brush-up. My only request would be to kindly ask that the good people of Queenzone do not corrupt these sessions by reproducing as MP3's or in other lossy formats. Let's keep the gene-pool as pure as possible, so that even more fans can finally enjoy them in the quality they deserve. |

where does ogre battle (pittrek's recreated version) stand in the setlist? first song as an intro? |
Catbert 02.03.2011 16:49 |
Presumably Ogre Battle belongs to session 3, but is a more complete version than on the CD. I'm curious to know how GH works out what the correct speed of session 2 is. Is it by pitch, assuming they were playing to concert pitch, or by length of track? |
The Real Wizard 02.03.2011 22:20 |
By the pitch. I just tuned it to concert pitch. On this old analog stuff, tape speed and pitch are intertwined. If a tape runs too slow, the pitch is also affected. |

Hi ALl, I'm new to all this sharing and download. seen the links for the Beeb sessions, click on the links and get redirected to rapidshare.com, do I need to download their programme to be able to download the music files? thanks just been to stormtroopers too ! |
pittrek 03.03.2011 02:03 |
1. Choose a server from which you want to download it. 2. Click the link 3. You'll get redirected to the download page 4. Depending on the server you choose you need to find some "download" button / link 5. Download the zip file, unpack it in any zip unpacker (e.g. WinZip) 6. After extraction you get 4 (or 5) FLAC files 7. Use your favourite player to play it |

I'm 99.9% sure that these BBC recordings from JSS are not masters. Lineage must be something like this: Master reel => 1st gen copy (tape cassette) => MD => WAV => FLAC 1) Liar from bbc session 2: First second is lost on JSS recording. 2014 broadcast includes compete intro. 2) Incorrect speed. 3) Unbalanced channels (2-3 db difference) with the same amount of hiss. 4) 2014 broadcast has much more clearer sound with less amount of hiss. Anyway, 2011 JSS shares are a hudge upgrade to the prerviously available copies. Thanks to him. |
