Hi there ,just been looking on Amazon and the first five 2011 Remasters are just over £11 each. Are you tempted to buy them and which ones first if you are?I think i will but i am not very excited by whats on offer. |
Pim Derks 11.02.2011 04:17 |
I'll probably buy them all on the day of release. |
inu-liger 11.02.2011 04:57 |
I'm inclined to buy into the Japanese SHM-CD re-issues. When I'll get them depends on my financial priorities, but I do plan to get some for sure. |
pittrek 11.02.2011 06:01 |
I'm pretty sure I will buy them in 10 years, when they'll be ultra cheap |
Soundfreak 11.02.2011 06:06 |
So far I'm only interested in the first one - in case it really contains the original Demos. And from there I will see....if the difference in sound is the same as on GH 1 and 2 it's pointless to buy them again. |
tonyyy 11.02.2011 07:13 |
I'll buy the first album of course because I'm interested in those bonus tracks and I don't like the mix of the original EMI album, so I hope it will be better. I don't know if I'llbuy or not the other cds. I think that the material on the other cds is less interesting. I already have many of those live versions. Tony My webpage: link |
Silken 11.02.2011 07:25 |
I think I'll buy the first 5 albums (if they're not excessively expensive) but only because I do not have them. I wouldn't buy an album I already own, no matter how well remastered it is. |
Voice of Reason 2018 11.02.2011 07:53 |
I'm not planning on getting any of them. I was looking at the Thin Lizzy releases (also on Universal). There are in the 1970s at the moment. I quite liked Lizzy's later stuff so I'm actually looking forward to releases like Thunder and Lightning. We'll see what it's like! |
Benn 11.02.2011 08:16 |
Nope - will not be buying them. They don't contain any material that warrants a release at that price point. If I decide I want to get them I'll find somewhere to download them if for no other reason than to believe that I've gotten one over on QPL. |
*goodco* 11.02.2011 08:34 |
Queen I might be the only thing of interest, but I've had the demos for about ten years, and listened to them a couple of times. So, 'no sale' for me. |
lifetimefanofqueen 11.02.2011 08:38 |
right now thinking about the price id say "no way" but when they come out and i see a Queen CD in a shop! id go hyper and probably buy it if i do buy one i'll get "a day at the races" i'm ment to be saving me money but when it comes to Queen i gotta buy |
Rick 11.02.2011 08:54 |
I will definitely buy Queen & Queen II. Innuendo as well later on. |
Rotwang 11.02.2011 09:42 |
Will these be available in the U.S.? I'm really looking forward to see what will be on NOTW. |
joesilvey 11.02.2011 09:49 |
I'll be buying them... |
shamar 11.02.2011 17:13 |
No. i dont buy shit |
Jimmy Dean 11.02.2011 20:25 |
Rotwang wrote: Will these be available in the U.S.? I'm really looking forward to see what will be on NOTW. They will likely be released in the US in the same format at a later date. As for News of the World... they'll likely include the full BBC Session... which is 4 songs if you include We Wil Rock you Fast and Slow as one track. + We Will Rock You Fast live in Houston.... if they had to include a sixth track... probably something random like We Wil Rock You by Queen + Five! lol... Because no one wants an official version of the "Feels Like" jam... that would be too much to ask. |
Back2TheLight 11.02.2011 21:44 |
If they release them in the U.S. in the same format, yeah sure why not? I'm esp looking forward to A Day At the Races...such a great piece of work that one is! :) |
MERQRY 11.02.2011 23:19 |
Over 11pounds?? Why so expensive?? In my country the remastered albums cost arround 6 Pounds (40 argentinan pesos) and i think is a reasonable price. I've all the 70's discography in old (but in Very good shape) LP's except for the oldest cd versions of The Greatest Hits (When the GH II Was bought freddie still was alive) so maybe (And Only maybe) i will to buy the Queen Cd... I'm curious about the "You Take My breath Away" bonus from Hyde Park but i will not buy all the cd for only one track. Cheers! |
Rien 12.02.2011 00:57 |
I already have the GH1 and GH2 Japanese 2011 remasters and I ordered the first 5 on the day of announcement. so, yes, I will buy them. |
Jazz 78 12.02.2011 06:30 |
Nope! No matter how many times these recordings get mixed, re-mixed, re-mixed of the former re-mixes from the original re-mix of a former mix it still doesn't change the original performances of the band. That's what matters! |
dussplus 12.02.2011 08:50 |
No, of course not - looking at the tracklist, maybe Queen I beacause of the De Lane Lea Demos. The remaster products do not fit in the"deluxe" format in any sense. In fact it's the most crappy deluxe edition of the Universal catalog. As we only get snipptes of the bbc sessions and live recordings of the time of album release, we can expect that we do not get the complete regular 12inch versions (which would have been the least of a "deluxe" edition) nor the Highlander soundtrack or other appropriate deluxe recordings. I even did support the Single-Collection-Box Sets, but thats over! Sorry! |
Rael 12.02.2011 09:54 |
I'll buy them all :). I don't like the extras that they are putting out, but hell... I love this band. |
philip storey 12.02.2011 12:10 |
I have to agree that these are in no way Deluxe Editions of the first five albums. They are going to be issued on the 50th Anniversary [IMO].By that time will there really be an appetaite for such releases? It smacks of pure greed by QPL and in my opinion Roger and Brian have not come out of this which much credit.I have loved this band all of my life, for as long as i can remember and yes i will shed out more money, but we the loyal fans deserve so much more. |
Joey2504 12.02.2011 12:38 |
No!! I have all the Queen albums on vinyl & japanese compact disc. And my harddisc is full with extras & bonustracks ;-) VINYL ROCKS and the japan first pressings CDS are in perfect quality. SHM is unnecessary. I will buy only a box set and DVD audio!! |
*goodco* 12.02.2011 14:07 |
borrowing a friend's line: if there had ever been a release called 'Queen Farts', the Stepfords will buy it. And they'll buy the remixes or 'deluxe' (hack) editions. |
the dude 1366 12.02.2011 14:12 |
Don't bother if you are buying them for improved sound quality. They are likely just "louder". Search "loudness war" to see what I mean. Don't give up your original cd's or vinyl. MFSL, Original pressings (especially Japanese non-remasters) are best for sound. Vinyl is another topic of course, but I'm referring ot CD's only. Do the research and save money. Record companies lie about 99% of the time when they say "remaster" is an actual sound upgrade. If you're buing for bonus tracks, that something totally different of course. just don't throw away your old cd's |
Crazy LittleThing 12.02.2011 14:30 |
Nope. Already have them. Call me when they release something I haven't already bought multiple times. |
Bo Alex 12.02.2011 14:48 |
Maybe I'll buy one or two, just to prove. Probably Queen II or Races. If I like them, I would buy some more. I already have the complete CD collection, so I doubt I'll buy them all. |
micksea173 12.02.2011 18:25 |
I won't be buying them as I have some of the extras tracks on my Hard Drive as well as the original albums on CD. I rather save up my money and buy the Rolling Stones Boxset when it is released as I seem to get more value for money than I would be buying any Queen deluxe album. |
A Word In Your Ear 12.02.2011 18:56 |
Don't Know??? Maybe, Just a shame that we have most of the extras already, Can't believe Greg B is sitting on a gold mine of stuff that could have been included on the discs, but we get 2011 remixed stuff. "Bohemian Rhapsody" Opera bit. Could have remixed that myself a dosen times over, in different ways with the multis :-( |
Rotwang 12.02.2011 20:36 |
I would take a proper full and complete soundtrack of "Highlander" over any of these. |
ITSM 14.02.2011 17:01 |
I'm really looking forward to Queen II and A Day at the Races. Also Queen (I), and Innuendo in a while... So yes, I will be buying them. Maybe I'll have a small problem buying A Night at the Opera (because of the 30 years edition), but I'm weak when it comes to anything that's labeled with Queen. |
Ron 15.02.2011 02:33 |
Yep I'll be buying them.. cause I'm a sucker for things like this :D |
HamsterP 15.02.2011 03:41 |
Nope. I'm ULTRABORED of listening to the "same old song and dance, my friend" (quoting Aerosmith!). Re-re-re-releases with something catchy scattered here and there.... Please, QP, .... stop it! |
thomasquinn 32989 15.02.2011 05:33 |
Not a chance. Buying these will only make QP think that re-releasing crap we've had twelve times over is a winning strategy. |
GratefulFan 15.02.2011 15:54 |
Re: the above, it's kind of a catch 22. The other potential message of poor sales of a back catalogue to a profit minded record company is that there isn't sufficient interest in the band to dig any deeper. |
NOTWMEDDLE 16.02.2011 18:38 |
Hollywood Records (which is the band's label here in the US and north of the border in Canada) won't release these new remasters. They already re-released the first eight albums in the 8-CD box set The Crown Jewels in 1998 with a stellar remastering job and also the mini-LP sleeve which was the perfect touch (though they used an alternate front cover for The Game). Also the back catalog was remastered once already (some with great bonus tracks (Queen I and II, The Works) and some not so great (the rest of the catalog with cheesy rap and techno remixes)). At the moment, Hollywood is too busy with Miley "Britney Mach II" Cyrus. Once they drop that floosie then they will get back to Queen. Universal handles the distribution of Hollywood in the US and Canada. I guess the label doesn't want to get rid of Classic Queen and Greatest Hits (maroon sleeve) from its catalog. I say erase them, Stone Cold Greatest and some of the pointless compilations and just have the Gold and Platinum Collections. |
